How not to behave on Twitter

After yesterday's game, this man of genius - who apparently is employed by the university - thought it was cool to tweet at Dug McDaniel, telling him "please transfer."

Do not be this guy.

Disappointed about the game?  Guess what, the players are 100 times more disappointed than you are.

I'm 42. I'm a man. Fuck Twitter. Don't have an account and have literally zero desire to create one.  FB is toxic enough.  Social media is shit.  Makes keyboard warriors who would never say 99% of the stuff they say on there to your face. Furthermore, I blame social media for many of society's issues. Rant over, now get off my lawn.

When my children were younger (before college) - I usually used a framework for our “post game” conversations - and, this applied to our academic, athletic, and social discussions.

I usually asked two questions…. Which were… “What did you do well?”, and “What could you have done better?”

I viewed the glass as being half full.. and didn’t want to place our conversation in a negative context.

So, for the Men’s hoops team.. they could probably 1) run sets better, 2) go deeper into the clock on offensive possessions, and 3) find floor position for rebounding.

Ripping into a young man.. or woman.. well, it’s not a very mature thing to do.  And, one could argue that social media brings our the worst in almost everyone.  Social media isn’t about accuracy or insight - it’s about clicks and people commenting on what you posted.

Twitter doesn't not give you the right to tweet at anyone, anything that you want.

Simple test: If you wouldn't say something to someone one to one, mano a mano, then it probably is something that crosses the line.

who's still on twitter anyways...lol

What an asshole.

Dug has been pretty good this year for a freshman PG who is forced to play heavy minutes and be relied upon. I think he'll be one of the best PGs in the conference as early as next year, but unfortunately for now, he'll be inconsistent as he learns.

I also don't get the Hunter hate. Yes, he's more or less the same as last year, but there were stretches last year where he was playing at an All American level and they relied so heavily on him. I don't think he's really improved, but I also don't think there was much more room for improvement. I don't think they feed him in the post as much, and he has had a little more trouble finishing than years past, but he's still the best player on the team.

There is a very good reason that you NEVER talk - especially negatively - about work, or anyone you work with, other people at the same place or clients and contractors on social media just as a general rule. I imagine this guy is finding out why as his Twitter account is now locked.

You shouldn’t tweet at kids

With that said I also remember football being bad and kids responded all the time on Twitter to BS like this.
