Sonny Dykes has a 56.7% career winning percentage. I doubt he is a top 10 coach in the Big Ten.

Random coaches have random outlier years. It does not mean that is repeatable or the coach is particularly good. Brady Hoke has an almost identical record as Sonny Dykes and has more 10 win seasons.

Consistency and repeatability is the sign of a good coach and program. Harbaugh is that.  You know you are getting a very good product every year. Very few other coaches are that.

Posts like yours are very nihilistic.

I get that everyone is mad and annoyed - so am I - but one thing we have to keep in mind is that by and large, none of us know shit about what's going on behind the scenes.

There's definitely smoke, yes, but we don't have enough information to say that that necessarily portends fire.  This could end badly for us, and it's bad enough that we're in the situation to begin with but - again - unless someone here is secretly Harbaugh's agent, we have no real insight into what Harbaugh wants.

OR he is leveraging for a contract that shows him the respect he feels he is owed and doing it, via an agent, in an pretty confrontational way.  Basically asking Warde to show him the money, like literally but also in a Jerry Maguire kinda way.

I don’t like it either, but he feels his worth to the football program warrants a public confrontation and it’s his right to do so.  And, frankly, the onfield results back him up.  It would be better if he was less abrasive about contract negotiations, but if he was less abrasive, he wouldn’t be Harbaugh.

It’s the price of admission with him. I’m willing to pay it for a mostly good football team that gives us something to cheer for and doesn’t embarrass the university off the field.  I get that, especially right now, others don’t feel that way. But ultimately, none of us know what’s really going on, so all we can do is wait the process out.

Time to cut him loose.  It is beyond obvious that JH pines for another NFL gig, time to cut him loose so he can follow his dream unencumbered by mixed loyalties.

I've ALWAYS been a Harbaugh supporter.  But now I think Michigan needs to move on from him.  He's too much of a liability.  Get someone in here that wants to be here...

People that say they want JH gone are just out of their minds. That said, we are pretty much screwed no matter what. If he stays (for what ever reason) our already compromised ability to recruit gets even worse.

if he goes, we are back to The crappy list of guys we looked at 2 years ago.

Rumor going around Michigan is that Harbaugh believes the NCAA is dumb enough to give him a show cause for his level one violation therefore he’d almost have to find another job.

He can’t sit around waiting on the NCAA and not have a job, so if an NFL team wants to give him complete control and a ton of money then he could leave. He didn’t reach out to the NFL nor did he want to leave Michigan. Hence him saying nobody knows the future and blah blah blah. This isn’t from my usual two sources so take it for what it’s worth. But that’s what I’ve heard. Harbaugh is saying he doesn’t know the future because it is in fact in the NCAAs hands and he’s not going to sit around waiting for a punishment he doesn’t feel is fair. If they find out the NCAA is going to go light then Harbaugh stays. Again take it with a grain of salt. Just info that’s been shared that’s a rumor.

It is amusing reading these comments about Harbaugh every year. There are about six or seven can't miss head coaches on Earth that could coach anywhere and win. Harbaugh is one of them. Most coaches who have winning records do so at one school and there is a certain amount of good fortune that is hard to replicate and those coaches would never repeat it elsewhere. Here are the conference records since 2015 when Harbaugh got here.

1.Ohio State 61-6 (91%)

2.Michigan 51-17 (75%)

3. Wisconsin 47-21 (69%)

4. Penn State 47-24 (66%)

Michigan State 36-32  (53%)

Guys like Harbaugh aren't easy to replace. His replacement *might* work but Harbaugh does work. Harbaugh still had a record in line with Michigan historically at the end of 2020.

College football is littered with programs that become a wasteland after losing a guy like Harbaugh. Texas, Tennessee, Miami, Florida State, Florida, Nebraska, Michigan, USC all found out that winning isn't a guarantee.  It turns out having a brand helps but the coach is the big difference maker.

So we're now going through the same thing as last year after he promised it wouldn't be an annual thing. I keep trying to wrap my head around this being okay, and I can't. If he was walking that talk he would have said what Juwan said and not be interviewing (Zoom or in person).

I suppose only Jim knows whether he simply changed his mind about not doing this every off-season, didn't mean it in the first place but said it anyway (to protect recruiting/whatever), or is taking advice from the agent ("you hired me to do a job, let me do it, this is how it's done").

Selfishly, I hope he's just angling for a better contract at UM, whatever that might entail. Doesn't feel that way, though, admittedly from a distance.

There goes 2024 recruiting. Back to back disappointing classes after the 2 best years for the program since the 90s. It feels like only us can have such rotten luck.

Honestly, Harbaugh is so beyond his years when it comes to stepping back into the NFL. It's going to be comically sad if he does take helm of a professional team with a GM pulling his strings. I have the popcorn ready. Lolololol
