Report: Broncos reached out to Harbaugh. Prognosis: Extremely unlikely.
I deleted the other thread because the OP did such a terrible job. NFL reporter said Broncos have reached out.
The Broncos recently reached out to Jim Harbaugh, Mike Florio (@ProFootballTalk) reported on Sunday Night Football. pic.twitter.com/KsaST161Z6

Since Harbaugh's made it clear he's not taking calls, until there's any sign of reciprocation this is just NFL reporters getting the annual Harbaugh clicks. On the Michigan side at least one insider already has a "not happening" source.

Elizabeth, I'm coming to join you, honey. I'll be the one with the bottle of bourbon and the broken maize and blue heart.

Champipple!
January 2nd, 2023 at 7:55 AM ^
No it is bourbon now. Fred has also moved on up and only drinks the good stuff, probably a Basil Hayden's kind of guy.
January 2nd, 2023 at 10:48 AM ^
Fred would never drink the good stuff. Strictly Old Grandad for him.
January 2nd, 2023 at 3:55 PM ^
Old Grandad is not bad Stuff. Especially for the price point.
January 2nd, 2023 at 10:11 AM ^
Fred to "Click Bait" Florio: "you big dummy!" One of my favs growing up and in college. Sanford and Stooges (2 Curley's and a Shemp) on Channel 50 before Letterman. Ah, the good ole days!
January 2nd, 2023 at 10:46 AM ^
You also watch The Ghoul on Channel 50?
January 2nd, 2023 at 11:04 AM ^
Our hero and leader! He knew how to blow up a froggie.
January 2nd, 2023 at 11:06 AM ^
Poopdeck Paul is more likely. Poopdeck took over from Captain Jolly on Ch. 9 from Canada.
January 2nd, 2023 at 12:11 PM ^
I watched the Ghoul, and still watch Svengoolie
January 2nd, 2023 at 12:45 AM ^
Teams can reach out all they want. I am more interested in what Harbaugh does.
January 2nd, 2023 at 6:09 AM ^
Normally I'd be in favor of him saying nothing. But after the self-inflicted debacle of last year, and the way that the "almost to Minnesota" news put a big dent in recruiting, I'd like to see a brief statement that would cut this story off before it starts: "Thank you, but I'm not interested in leaving Michigan." A simple yet direct preemptive strike.
January 2nd, 2023 at 8:12 AM ^
Didn't he already make a statement around the time of the BTCG saying he'd definitely be back for 2023? He shouldn't have to go to the press every single time a dumb twitter rumor appears.
January 2nd, 2023 at 8:48 AM ^
He doesn’t have to. But it would majorly help if he did continue to reiterate that he is not interested.
January 2nd, 2023 at 8:48 AM ^
Or maybe he does? I mean we are talking about indecisive 17 and 18 year olds who now live and breathe social media, believing everything they read. Coaches do a lot of things to try to appeal to kids to commit to their school. A simple tweet, while maybe “unnecessary”, probably goes a long way with recruits and their families. Especially while other schools try to negatively recruit. It would take him all of 10 seconds while he’s taking his morning dump.
January 2nd, 2023 at 9:05 AM ^
Unfortunately he will probably "have to" because last year sure felt like he only returned because he wasn't offered a job. That may or may not be the case, but it definitely looked that way.
January 2nd, 2023 at 11:51 AM ^
He shouldn't have to, but it sure would help if he did -- quickly, decisively, and every single time. I wish he would do exactly this.
January 2nd, 2023 at 12:46 PM ^
This isn't just a dumb Twitter rumor, though, because the Broncos need a coach, can't afford to screw up the hire again, and apparently expressed interest. He can shut down the speculation with a simple "Thanks, but no thanks." Last year, his silence in response to the Vikings rumors turned out to be legitimate interest, so it would not be unreasonable to draw the same conclusion from the same non-response. Unfortunately, that's part of the deal.
January 2nd, 2023 at 11:09 AM ^
Just because Harbaugh is clamming up in public doesn’t mean he and the rest of the network aren’t talking to their targets on the side.
January 2nd, 2023 at 12:47 AM ^
Thanks Seth. Yeah. No, this move is not happening.
January 2nd, 2023 at 12:51 AM ^
I don't know why folks have such a hard time believing Coach?
He said he's done with the NFL. I think we should believe him
January 2nd, 2023 at 5:56 AM ^
Agreed.
It's really bordering now on full psychosis for these NFL media guys that he just has come back to the league. It doesn't even matter if he is a good fit or not, these "reporters" are creating the narrative Harbaugh and the NFL are meant to be together like some weird ass rom com. I think Harbaugh could be sedated in an iron lung, someone would still say they link him with 2-3 coaching vacancies.
January 2nd, 2023 at 8:25 AM ^
I think the psychosis, if any exists, is rooted on trying to generate clicks for your story. I don't think the media particularly care if Harbaugh goes to the NFL. But it is proven, putting his name out there gets clicks. Plus, he is a proven, big name coach, so his name probably does come up in many coaching searches.
January 2nd, 2023 at 8:46 AM ^
Bronco's fans and media have been talking about getting Harbaugh for over a month now. They all know it's not likely, their f**** with that Russel Wilson deal.
January 2nd, 2023 at 11:38 AM ^
Anyone who pays attention to coaches knows it's not "psychotic" to speculate about Harbaugh and the NFL. He's already flirted with it, and anyone who knows anything about coaches knows most of them harbor NFL dreams. Harbaugh is no different. It wouldn't surprise me at all if he takes an NFL job, either now or in the next year or two. What's baffling is that this surprises you. Harbaugh constantly prefaces his claims with "no one can predict the future." So he's giving himself an out, and rightly so. If he gets the right offer, he'll take it. Raback it.
January 2nd, 2023 at 3:35 PM ^
Denver likes Super Bowls. They bit the bullet and made a big offer to Peyton Manning. It worked as they wanted it to. They could do the same now with Jim Harbaugh. Looking at his track record with San Francisco that could pay off for them too. He could be gone.
If he goes, the next real hot topic will be who will be the head coach at Michigan.
I'll say these will be the hottest 2 names: Sherrone Moore and Matt Weiss. Matt Weiss is probably the more ready of the 2 to be a head coach. Moore could stay with the O Line and get the title of OC. I don't think I'd want him to be away from being the O Line coach.
January 2nd, 2023 at 11:06 AM ^
weird ass rom com
Harbaugh humiliates himself with awful loss in Glendale. Warde calls Harbaugh in and gives him hell for the embarrassing performance. Harbaugh drunkenly wanders the streets of Ann Arbor at 3am with a bottle of Bourbon beseeching the heavens to reveal why God forsakes him. A homeless vagrant befriends him and counsels "go south." The next morning Harbaugh bids Sarah farewell and embarks on a Greyhound bound for Houston where he implores the Texans to consider him to resurrect their dumpster fire of a franchise. The Texans want nothing to do with him but, in typical Texans fashion, do it anyway. Harbaugh calls old friend Colin Kaepernick to play quarterback and Houston goes on a magical run to Super Bowl victory. Redemption all around. Harbaugh spots Sarah in the crowd and races to her. Fade to black.
January 2nd, 2023 at 8:33 AM ^
It isn’t that they don’t believe him—it’s that hyping rumors gets clicks, and that’s what it is all about in 21st century media.
January 2nd, 2023 at 9:55 AM ^
I do believe him. The problem is people use this against us especially with very impressionable kids. He should probably just meet it head on and say yes they contacted me and no I’m not leaving
January 2nd, 2023 at 11:40 AM ^
He could easily and promptly knock these rumors down, as many coaches do. If he doesn't, that should tell you he's either considering job offers or at least wants it known that he's wanted.
January 2nd, 2023 at 3:45 PM ^
He's never definitely shot the stories down before. I likely won't definitely shot the stories down now.
I just don't think he feels completely settled in at the college level. You can't change the heart.
January 2nd, 2023 at 9:55 AM ^
I believe him but I can see how someone without a stake in wanting to believe him could be a bit skeptical that a guy who five minutes after making it to the final stages of getting an NFL gig said never mind I’ll never have any interest ever again.
January 2nd, 2023 at 11:29 AM ^
To be fair he said "nobody can predict the future". Another thing he said in his post-B1G championship media presser that people have misconstrued is "we'll be back coaching" not "I'll be back".
Look. Harbaugh is an odd man. Do I want him to leave? Hell no. Would I surprised if we as fans have to deal with the same NFL shit as last year in which he interviews with a team? Nope. Not at all.
January 2nd, 2023 at 12:52 AM ^
Harbaugh will not pick up the phone, believing the Denver area code is a call to extend his car warranty
January 2nd, 2023 at 1:31 AM ^
Very much appreciate what he has done at Michigan, but Harbaugh actually seems weird enough to be the type of person that answers a phone call from a number he doesn't recognize.
January 2nd, 2023 at 5:58 AM ^
he's getting to the age that he'll start getting the 'medicare gap coverage' calls along with the usual:
is your car running? well you better go catch it!
warranty calls.
January 2nd, 2023 at 8:12 AM ^
I'm sure Jim's call went like this:
"Dave. Do you still own the property on 411 Woody Hayes Dr? We would like to make you a cash offer."
January 2nd, 2023 at 11:09 AM ^
Trust me, you start getting those medicare gap calls in your early 30's at the latest.
January 2nd, 2023 at 7:39 AM ^
It's the 2020s, man. Extended warranty was 2010s. You mean his Camp Lejeune settlement.
January 2nd, 2023 at 8:52 AM ^
The most common scam I see in Harbaugh’s demographic is catfishing for money through Facebook Messenger.
January 2nd, 2023 at 12:53 AM ^
Reach out I'll not be there. Right Coach?
January 2nd, 2023 at 1:38 AM ^
Mike Florio is one of the most annoying people on TV/Radio. He is a professional concern troll. How he has a job doing this for a living is amazing.
January 2nd, 2023 at 1:42 AM ^
If we got a lot of these this offseason I'm going to start enforcing a "Hater Tots:" tag in the headlines.
January 2nd, 2023 at 9:50 AM ^
The scenario is similar to Harbaugh being a pretty girl in high school and a lot of guys either ask her to go to the prom or want to ask her.
Truly nothing to see here but can understand why teams would at least attempt to ask him out.
January 2nd, 2023 at 10:56 AM ^
I am actually drinking Brawndo with bourbon this morning.
Watching the slappies here who wanted him fired and replaced by the Iowa State Coach a mere two years ago. Who are now desperately pretending like they didn't and now desperately wanting to keep Harbaugh.
Neg all you want, Harbaugh is awesome, but getting kidnapped to watch Kabuki Theater comes with some grumbling.
January 2nd, 2023 at 12:03 PM ^
Will- I did want him fired two years ago. And rightfully so. And, no, I am not claiming I ever wanted otherwise.
But neither you nor anyone else predicted what the next two years would be like. So get off your high horse. He’s still got work to do
January 2nd, 2023 at 3:41 PM ^
Go back to 2020 and read my posts.
I am on the record saying they would greatly improve after the youth and pandemic 2020 team.
January 2nd, 2023 at 3:48 PM ^
Let me do it for you.
November 30th, 2020 at 4:42 PM ^
I played college sports and the difference between my game as a Freshman versus my play as a Senior was absolutely astounding. And that pretty much went for everyone on the team. It was night and day. Have you ever seen a still growing kid go up against a grown man . . . yes, you have, this has been our 2020 season. The team will be much improved next year, and the year after that.
I really don't fully understand how Harbaugh was supposed to win with this roster?
And at the same time, I can't help but marvel at the number of players he has sent to the NFL, many of whom left early, and created the depth problems we have had the past few years at various positions.
The problem here, in my opinion, is trying to build a college program in the modern era of college football. It takes time, and you blogger types are impatient, unrealistic and immature.
