Is that Michigans first Outland ?
December 8th, 2022 at 7:36 PM ^
Surprisingly yes. You would think Michigan would have had one before considering the tradition on the OL, but he is the first. Jake Long, David Baas, and Greg Skrepenak were all finalists for the Outland.
December 8th, 2022 at 7:41 PM ^
Thanks I couldn’t remember if Skrepenak had won it !
December 8th, 2022 at 8:38 PM ^
Looking back, Skrepenak's year would have been '91, but happened to be going against Steve Emtman who was an absolute wrecking ball
December 9th, 2022 at 8:39 AM ^
Wasn't he the 'roided out dude from Washington?
December 9th, 2022 at 10:04 AM ^
But didn't the Rose Bowl happen after the awards were given? Emtman did dominate that Rose Bowl (and I don't know if he was on roids, iirc he had a terrible knee injury after being drafted)

One of the best, no doubt
I'm also partial to the Clinton "warlord!" sketch in McDonalds
And the "President Reagan, mastermind" sketch

Never seen that but that is hilarious! Thanks.

I'm pretty sure it's the writer Jim Downey ... the principal from Billy Madison.

Well-deserved Olu - probably the best lineman transfer of all time!
December 8th, 2022 at 7:34 PM ^
Outland too? Fucking awesome!
December 8th, 2022 at 7:35 PM ^
Next up, national championship
December 8th, 2022 at 8:52 PM ^
First, Joe Moore award. Then, National Championship
December 8th, 2022 at 10:27 PM ^
Don’t forget we also have Brad Robbins up for as nominee for Peter Mortell Holder of the Year.
December 8th, 2022 at 7:39 PM ^
OUTSTANDING!!! This man deserves to be in NY at the Heisman ceremony next to Blake! What a gift he was from UVA - I hope we don't owe them anything in return!
December 8th, 2022 at 8:26 PM ^
Send $ to help the victims of the tragic murders on campus. It's not owed, but is a nice gesture.

Corum unfortunately missed out on the Doak Walker Award. Bijan Robinson wins it. I always thought it was going to be hard for him to win it while missing the last 2.5 games, and Donovan Edwards blowing up.
December 8th, 2022 at 7:57 PM ^
-urns.
I was saying
December 8th, 2022 at 9:55 PM ^
Corum not winning the Doak Walker award is a fucking crime!
Robinson was so valuable to Texas this year they trusted him with the ball at the goal line to beat TCU....oh wait...
December 8th, 2022 at 11:14 PM ^
THIS. What a damn shame. I don’t mean to hijack the greatness of Olu. But the amount of snub Blake has gotten is bullshit.
Blake: 10 less carries and 100 yard less than Bijan Robinson. Let’s break this down. Harbz, if you remember, played him sparingly in the cupcake OOC. 12, 9 and 13 carries in those three games. Unlike SEC or BS teams, they only used him at minimum at those games. Michigan uses BC more in those games, way more yardage and touchdowns compared to Robinson.
Let’s look at the schedule cause the entire damn narrative prior to OSU was how easy the schedule was right? Well, too 15 defenses in the country were: Illinois, Iowa, PSU, OSU. 3 of which finished top 10. Texas? 1 top 10 (alabama) followed up by Kansas st (ranked right behind OSU). Sure, I didn’t break down rush d, but I think you know who would still have a better schedule. Robinson had 21 carries with 2.7 average rushing at Bama. Iowa and Illinois statistically were better on d with PSU tying Bama. BC didn’t average less than 4.6 yards with 100 yards over each game. Robinson had 57.
In conclusion, these awards are absolute scams. BC should be the heisman winner (bias maybe) at worst 4th. Worst of all, comparing his body of work vs that of the Doak winner Bijan is beyond laughable. Not even close how much better BC was a whole. By and large Bijan Robinson got majority of his yards on cupcake teams and Michigan rested him on said cupcake teams.
In Blake we trust.

December 8th, 2022 at 8:25 PM ^
To be fair they don't follow the sport.

CBS has a anti Michigan tinge to its reporting.

Pleasantly surprised about the Outland, so SO deserved the Rimington, way to go Olu!
December 8th, 2022 at 7:51 PM ^
NICE JOB OLU-SQUARED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a feeling that you would give it to your teammates.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Molk won the Rimington in 2011
December 8th, 2022 at 7:58 PM ^
And also Bass in 2004 I believe. Not sure if you were referring to the “since 2005” part of the OP. If so, you misread it:
Michigan's first Outland winner and first center to win it since 2005.
December 8th, 2022 at 8:29 PM ^
Indeed. He and Denard were special and also beat that team from Ohio.
December 8th, 2022 at 7:52 PM ^
That's Outlanding!
December 8th, 2022 at 7:53 PM ^
Wow! So cool!
December 8th, 2022 at 7:53 PM ^
Olu!!
December 8th, 2022 at 9:59 PM ^
Exactly...as in Offensive Lineman University!!!
The tradition continues!
December 8th, 2022 at 7:54 PM ^
Why does the Outland specifically say "interior" lineman? They give it to tackles. I'd never seen that description before, but it says it on their website.
December 8th, 2022 at 7:59 PM ^
Interior lineman = any lineman playing on the line of scrimmage (usually between the ends). The award can go to an offensive or defensive lineman (ends are not eligible) which makes it pretty tough to win, especially as a center. I think the award usually goes to an OT or a DT.
