USC getting blown out, OSU probably the 4 seed.
USC on the defensive side of the ball reminds me of a team that has never practiced a tackling drill. My goodness, that was bad.
That said, why would we be concerned that the nuts would back their way into the playoff? It's hard to beat an opponent twice? Utah just did exactly this.
Georgia, more than likely further sets off the OSU fan base by smacking them around in Atlanta. Best case scenario? Harbaugh beats Day 2x in one year for the Natty.

Bring ‘em on. LGB!
December 2nd, 2022 at 11:49 PM ^
If we somehow lose to Purdue tomorrow the committee will put OSU and Bama 3 and 4 and us 5. Mark my words
December 2nd, 2022 at 11:50 PM ^
Absolutely zero chance of this happening. Unless we lose to Purdue 81-3.
December 2nd, 2022 at 11:50 PM ^
lol no.
December 2nd, 2022 at 11:51 PM ^
False. There is zero chance OSU gets in and we do not. 17 million people know why.
December 2nd, 2022 at 11:51 PM ^
Nah, we're a lock already.
Bama could sneak in with a TCU loss.
December 3rd, 2022 at 12:19 AM ^
the top 4 is set. UGA , Mich, TCU, OSU.. it's just about seeding now. I hope UGA , Mich and tcu all win tomorrow.
December 3rd, 2022 at 12:27 AM ^
If they put Bama in i will not watch ESPN again.
December 3rd, 2022 at 12:43 AM ^
who watches ESPN??
December 3rd, 2022 at 5:10 AM ^
yes you will...if Michigan is playing you will watch...
December 2nd, 2022 at 11:51 PM ^
Ok, but that's not gonna happen, even though everyone knows ESPN will be pushing VERY hard for it.
December 2nd, 2022 at 11:51 PM ^
No they won’t. Top 3 are safe regardless.
Its very stupid that USC is about to get punished for having an extra game, but whatever.
December 2nd, 2022 at 11:56 PM ^
Pretty deserved. 0-2 versus Utah. Not exactly top 4 material.
December 3rd, 2022 at 12:35 AM ^
Well, OSU didn't play in the championship game.. Who knows what they would have done..
December 3rd, 2022 at 1:04 AM ^
Been undefeated going in with a maximum of one loss coming out?
December 2nd, 2022 at 11:57 PM ^
December 3rd, 2022 at 12:32 AM ^
In the 12 team playoff it's advantageous to have a championship game, because it increases the likelihood of an upset and a team stealing an autobid. The favored team that loses still likely gets in, and bam now you've got two teams in the playoff.
Same reason basketball conferences give their autobid to their conference tournament champion.
December 3rd, 2022 at 12:35 AM ^
Yes but we’re not yet at a 12 team playoff. So currently, as it stands, having a conference championship game is horrible for the conference because all it does is provide you with an extra opportunity for a loss.
December 3rd, 2022 at 7:21 AM ^
It is not necessarily an advantage to have a conference championship game in the 12 team playoff. Use USC/Utah as an example.
Without a conference championship game, USC gets a first round bye and Utah probably still gets in. So the PAC ccg cost USC a bye and made Utah a higher seed, but didn't get them in and didn't get them a bye. If Utah had lost, it very well likely would have cost them a spot in the 12.
Suppose Utah would not have made playoffs without a win yesterday. Then, the PAC either gets two teams in, or one team in but that team gets a bye. Two in is probably better, but it does come with a cost.
December 3rd, 2022 at 9:36 AM ^
Agree about 90% But take the case of being number 6 going into conf champ week. Now let's say number 4 loses (ie USC) and you at 6 play another game, you get a chance to potentially leapfrog an idle 5 time with a dominant performance. Had LSU not lost last week, they would be playing for a chance to leapfrog OSU. With GA being a lock, a conference title game in some situations can help. Or if the SEC title game were Bama vs GA, then Bama would be playing to impress and leap frog OSU. Or if your conference's highest-rated team is 5 or 6, it gives you one more chance to impress.
December 3rd, 2022 at 10:09 AM ^
Cost a playoff appearance but guranteed a 2nd and maybe 3rd NY6 bowl participant.
December 3rd, 2022 at 12:02 AM ^
90 plus percent of the time, I agree.
But they just lost to the same team two times in one season, and the team they lost to is good but not indicative of a strong conference.
USC sucks on defense and fielded an offense full of portal guys.
I hate OSU as much as the next guy on this site, but people are legitimately smoking something strong if you think USC is better than OSU.
Which makes our win in the horseshoe the most impressive W this year.
December 3rd, 2022 at 12:36 AM ^
To me it’s about earning the right to be in the playoff. And USC played in an extra gem that OSU doesn’t have to participate in. If OSU played this weekend they could’ve gotten a second L too. But they just get the benefit of the doubt because they say at home?
December 3rd, 2022 at 9:40 AM ^
But let's say the top 4 all win, but number 3 or 4 wins ugly. Now a number 5 team playing a conference championship gets a chance to make a move with a strong performance.
December 3rd, 2022 at 10:48 AM ^
I don’t want OSU in the playoff. I do not care about having the opportunity to beat them twice. I want them to have a 0% chance of winning the national championship and a 0% chance of beating Michigan this season.
To make this all about me, which is most important, it would be a brutal few weeks leading up to the playoff, stressful if OSU and Michigan were playing for the title, absolute agony the whole game they play, and a nightmare of OSU were to win.
The odds of Michigan beating OSU twice is much lower than Utah beating USC twice. Save potential rematches for 2024 when the 12 team playoff goes live. I enjoyed hearing how upset buckeyes were after last weekend. They shouldn’t be allowed redemption right after getting blown out.
December 3rd, 2022 at 11:46 AM ^
Yeah but…it sure will be fun seeing UGA tear OSU to pieces in the semi final. More pain and suffering in Columbus? I’m in
December 3rd, 2022 at 12:25 AM ^
I mean at the end of the day both had 1 loss in the regular season if you ignore the extra game so it really comes down to if you think OSU or USC is the more complete team. The reality is USC's defense sucked consistently pretty much all year, UM was the only terrible performance OSU had defensively on the other hand. I think OSU is in fact the better team.
December 3rd, 2022 at 9:27 AM ^
You can’t ignore the extra game. The committee’s responsibility is to put the top four teams in the playoffs, not make sure everybody thinks it’s fair.
December 3rd, 2022 at 9:34 AM ^
Ignore the conference championship game for a moment, does USC at 11-1 deserve a playoff spot over Ohio State with the same record? I'm not so sure, the resume of USC wasn't the strongest
December 2nd, 2022 at 11:56 PM ^
That's the dumbest thing I've read all day.
December 2nd, 2022 at 11:58 PM ^
There have been a lot of takes but this is the dumbest one yet at least this year for the playoff bids.
December 3rd, 2022 at 12:05 AM ^
Please stop!!!! Or tell me that you meant to put a /s at the end...
December 3rd, 2022 at 12:31 AM ^
I mean aren't you the guy in the other thread who said UM should just rest all starters tommorow and not give a shit about winning a Big Ten title. Is bad takes your goal tonight?
December 3rd, 2022 at 12:40 AM ^
Yes he is.
B U S T E D!

December 2nd, 2022 at 11:49 PM ^
Well shit! That escalated quickly!
December 2nd, 2022 at 11:50 PM ^
”The last refuge of the incompetent rich: USC.”
December 2nd, 2022 at 11:51 PM ^
Bama can make it in too... Tomorrow will be interesting.
December 2nd, 2022 at 11:57 PM ^
There should be ZERO chance Bama gets put into the playoffs...
2 losses....
No real signature win....
But we shall see how much ESPN will try and drum up "drama" for their 4 hour show for what should be a no brainer now...
1 v 4 = UGA v OSU in Atlanta
2 v 3 = Michigan v TCU in Phoenix
December 3rd, 2022 at 12:28 AM ^
that's IF Michigan , TCU, and UGA all win. there could be a few shake ups, but I do agree that's the four teams in the top 4..
cheering for UGA , tcu , and Michigan wins
December 3rd, 2022 at 7:25 AM ^
If TCU gets smoked, I could see Alabama making it. Not a slam dunk Alabama doesn't make it in over OSU either.
December 2nd, 2022 at 11:58 PM ^
The talking heads in the media keep pushing this dumb-ass narrative. There is no reason either Michigan or TCU should be out of the top 4 based on their resumes. Who exactly has Bama beaten this year, (24) Mississippi State and (20) Texas who they beat by 1 point with Ewers out? TCU also beat that same Texas team with their first-string QB healthy.
December 3rd, 2022 at 12:21 AM ^
Zero chance. 2 losses, didn't make the title game, and no wins better than Michigan, OSU, or TCU. It's virtually locked. And win or loss, TCU and Michigan are probably locked as 2/3 or 3/2. The only thing that can really make a change is Georgia losing and Michigan or TCU winning and going to #1. OSU is the 4 in every scenario.
December 2nd, 2022 at 11:51 PM ^
Ughhhh I don’t want OSU in the playoff. If they do just make them play Georgia.
December 2nd, 2022 at 11:55 PM ^
They are in the playoffs. That's a done deal.
December 3rd, 2022 at 12:08 AM ^
What if the kid playing ncaa14 in this simulation still has the controller, and the last 2 years was just to make it hurt that much more
December 3rd, 2022 at 12:32 AM ^
Nope they will move Michigan to 1 to play 4OSU. Urban just said it
December 3rd, 2022 at 7:26 AM ^
Seems highly unlikely that they have Mich-OSU in semis.
