Who do you follow for game-day twitter?
On game day, I tend to check in on Twitter to see what sort of last-minute stuff is surfacing in the minutes before kick-off and during the game. I don't want to be too distracted by the game, so I try to restrict myself from looking at Twitter except for during commercial breaks. I think the best game day Twitters to follow are:
- Sam Webb (@SamWebb77)
- Maize n Brew (@MaizenBrew)
- John Bacon (@Johnubacon)
- Jane Coaston (@janecoaston)
- EDSBS (@edsbs)
- And of course the MGoBlog folks: Seth (@Misopogon), Ace (@AceAnbender), LSAClassOf2000 (@LorneEC3)
In terms of best game-day commentary, who else should be added to this list as an important/insightful game-day follow?

Scott Bell (@sbell021) is a phenomenal follow. Great combination of humor and serious UofM commentary.

Add Scott Bell (@Sbell021) and @bry_mac
especially if sarcastic takes are your thing.

Love Scott Bell and also like @swankywolverine (though not sure how much of a gameday tweeter he/she is.)
I like Bry Mac but wish he would create a separate account for all his political stuff -- I gravitate to M football to AVOID politics and it's at least 90% politics in the offseason.

Nice tip on Bry Mac! I like him in other forums, not sure why I've never considered following him.
September 1st, 2022 at 10:53 PM ^
I've been been following him for a couple years, though I haven't checked his tweets recently.

Sorry I can’t contribute to this. When I’m in Michigan Stadium - or even tailgating near it - I really don’t follow anyone on media. I have my phone to snap a few pics with friends - and - just enjoy the environment - friends - some food & drink - while letting the Maize & Blue (hopefully) entertain my eyes.
Enjoy. Go Blue!

I didn’t know you could president by twitter, but I still don’t have an account.
September 1st, 2022 at 5:25 PM ^
That's good because you will not have any kind of cell service to scroll, post and sometimes text if you're near the stadium on gameday.
September 2nd, 2022 at 8:13 AM ^
Yeah, this is certainly a bizarre concept for me. When the game is on I watch and enjoy (at least try to) the experience, not really worrying about what is happening on Twitter. I save the analysis stuff for the following week.
I'm assuming this is a younger crowd concept, and would be curious to hear the ages of those that are looking for this type of in-game content. I'm 40, for reference.
September 1st, 2022 at 5:18 PM ^
If it's a road game and I'm at home: just Brian's MGoBlog account, Seth, and LSA.
If it's a home game I'm always there and I ain't got time for Twitter.
September 3rd, 2022 at 1:23 AM ^
I am too busy stressing over the game I am watching to go find other's takes. I like the post-game stuff from folks on Twitter. But when it's game on I am all business.
September 1st, 2022 at 5:18 PM ^
I haven’t watched a game in real time since I became a parent 13 years ago, thanks DVR technology.
I go phone dark most of, or all day Saturday.
I even cover the score ticker on the bottom of the TV screen to avoid spoilers of games in my queue.
September 1st, 2022 at 6:42 PM ^
We are twins. I go into media lockdown. Anyone who would text me knows not to text me about the game. I make sure not to wear any Michigan gear outside. My Saturdays are super efficient. I don't rush through Michigan games but I DVR other games too and I can skip all commercials, time outs, time between plays, injury delays, etc and cut the game down to just over 30 mins. With 3 kids, this is a necessity.

i don't have social media as it is a scourge to the human race
September 1st, 2022 at 6:09 PM ^
This! Social media is a society destroying super weapon.
Every nutcase and asshole has a platform to spread their poison to the masses.
September 1st, 2022 at 8:22 PM ^
But how are people supposed to know what to think without it?

We simply cannot have nice things. LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Loathe social media.

What if I told you that a message board is social media?

Beat writers who are in the press box are good follows. Nick Baumgardner (@nickbaumgardner) is one and he’s also got a good football mind and grasp of Xs and Os so I appreciate his takes as the game occurs. Mgoblog alum Steve Lorenz (@TremendousUM) too
September 1st, 2022 at 6:07 PM ^
Michigan Twitter -
@misopogon (Woot Seth)
@mgoblog
@samwebb77
@sbell021 (Scott Bell if you're not on this you're doing it wrong)
@bucketproblem (Ace only less Ace?)
@_ZachShaw (Zach Shaw)
@JoshHenschke (Josh Henschke)
@chengelis (Angelique)
@TomVH (Tom VH)
@TremendousUM (Steve Lorenz)
@JohnUBacon (John U Bacon)
@Isaiahhole (Isaiah Hole)
@umhoops (Dylan Burkhardt)
@JalenRose (Jalen Rose)
@JuwanHoward (Juwan Howard)
@CoachJim4UM (Jim Harbaugh)
I feel like this is a pretty well-rounded Michigan experience. I've enjoyed refreshing Twitter during gameday and wins last season. It's definitely better than popping in here to see the trauma-in-real-time that is a Gameday Reax thread.
My only issue with some of the "new" media guys like Zach Shaw are they seem to react to their negative twitter mentions more than they probably should. I feel like it gives them a skewed view of the overall tenor of the fanbase. I've never once considered hate Tweeting something about one of their takes and tagging them. But they seem to respond to those types of tweets frequently, which is how I see their responses. My overall world view is "Why try to argue logic with crazy?"
And lastly,
@dog_feelings (Not Michigan but you should definitely follow, good stuff)

If you want the technical side of things @SpaceCoyoteBDS and @colintj are great. Although IIRC space coyote said he wouldn't be live tweeting as much this season.

Well, I am honored. Thank you!

This is a list I put together that I use for game days, it's mostly Michigan and national accounts with a few good people from other teams. https://twitter.com/i/lists/1049708550984007680?s=20
September 2nd, 2022 at 10:06 AM ^
@sgeorgetter as well, who also hosts (yet another) M football podcast with her fiancé. (Fun side note, he popped the question on a certain snowy afternoon where some out-of-state visitors got the flu, but I digress). If you listen to one ep, I'd recommend the NIL EP as they're both lawyers and had some interesting insights there.

Pretty much everyone covered but Jane Coaston is a great follow for many, many things and not just Michigan football takes. One of my favorite Twitter follows.
