Gattis / Offensive strategy for THE GAME
Michigan needing to strategize outside the box so to speak isn't news to any of us here. Having said that, I am thinking we see 2 back sets with Edwards in there as well in the slot. Haskins, Crum and Edwards on the field at the same time gives osu something to think about. Control the clock is an obvious strategy and a defensive tactic the offense can deploy
Inserting JJ and running RPO's at certain times throughout the game would also prove to be a change of pace and be productive as JJ is elusive and has proven to be a playmaker
What are other options we can utilize this coming Saturday?
Go Blue! Playoff football starts this coming Saturday!

cade will be pulling and running the ball 2 times when it will really matter, actual read options. you heard it here first.
November 23rd, 2021 at 9:36 PM ^
Kinda like what Dwayne Haskins did to us in 2018? He was supposed to be a mostly immobile QB and kept getting first downs with QB runs in the few instances when our secondary did manage to stop a crossing route. I’d love to pay that back to Day.
November 23rd, 2021 at 9:38 PM ^
If you had said 1 time I would have thought you were being bold. Twice? Just insane.
November 23rd, 2021 at 9:55 PM ^
I said the same thing to my son. I think it will happen. I hope it works.
November 23rd, 2021 at 10:04 PM ^
Agreed. I think we'll see Cade keep on read options and/or scramble by design a handful of times to break tendencies. I also think we'll see a couple play action deep shots from JJ if they can get into some 2nd and short situations (or 3rd and short in 4 down territory.) Even if they keep it close or lead midway through, I pray they don't play conservative on offense and bank on stopping OSU for 4 quarters.
November 24th, 2021 at 7:57 AM ^
I will say I have a lot of confidence the "play conservative" thing is out the window. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Harbaugh wants to control the ball but in his interview he seemed pretty straightforward and not delusional that osu is going to score and michigan needs to punch back.
November 23rd, 2021 at 10:22 PM ^
Rope a dope.
November 23rd, 2021 at 10:54 PM ^
goddamn i would *love* it if cade suddenly becomes hypermobile and rams it down their throats
November 23rd, 2021 at 11:36 PM ^
Better yet let Haskins qb so we can hand off to Cade so he can flash his 4.3 forty quickness and Mike Hart-coached vision. Cade going full Biakabatuka on ‘em
November 24th, 2021 at 12:30 AM ^
Cade pulled against Maryland to roll out and throw a pass but got tackled before he could. I like Cade but a big reason they're not running him is he's just slow. A real read option game with Cade is not how Michigan beats OSU.
November 24th, 2021 at 4:36 AM ^
correct, a 'real' read option isn't all that viable. but ohio will forget that he might ever pull it and will crash their DE's. cade will pull and be around end for 10-15 yds when we really need it. and it will have the effect of actually slowing the backside pursuit down.
November 24th, 2021 at 9:35 AM ^
Yeah his 40 time is 5.1, which some OL prospects run that lol
November 24th, 2021 at 9:46 AM ^
Cade needs to pull out before he pulls the trigger!
November 24th, 2021 at 5:11 AM ^
Gosh, I hope not. He is slower than John Navarre. Let JJ do that.
November 24th, 2021 at 5:34 AM ^
i get it, but as you look for instance some of the UFR gifs, it is so open even a 5.4 40 guy like cade could make a decent chunk. heck, he had a pretty good scramble v. maryland last week.
it only has to happen a couple of times to keep them honest, but it should happen.
November 24th, 2021 at 8:45 AM ^
There was a breakdown on here a couple of years ago that showed you dont need your QB to run for a boat load of yards in order to get the primary benefit of having a QB run. They just need to do it a few times, make the threat "real" and the defense slows down just that much which opens everything else up.
Cade doesnt need to scramble 10 times, 2-3 decent scrambles on the obviously easy oens is all it really takes.
November 24th, 2021 at 11:25 AM ^
On 3rd and one. He only needs the yard but may get more.
November 24th, 2021 at 11:26 AM ^
On 3rd and one. He only needs the yard but may get more.
I recall Shea doing it vs MSU for maybe the 1st time and it surprised the shit out of them.
November 24th, 2021 at 5:54 PM ^
and he ran a long way, like 25 yds, didn't he?
November 24th, 2021 at 6:45 AM ^
I like it. Cade pulling and running, JJ keeping and throwing strikes.
Unleash the Kraken.

More Andrel Anthony. Dude has done nothing but make plays on the ball.
November 23rd, 2021 at 10:14 PM ^
Oh yeah throw it deep to Anthony he is a dude.

-1 for not putting the effort in to fully spell out Corum. Come on man!
November 23rd, 2021 at 10:42 PM ^
No that's our newest weapon on offense, Denny Crum

Brad Crum

He has a nice scrum.
November 24th, 2021 at 8:30 AM ^
Thought he was referring to Viktor Krum.

Play to win. Pedal down. Aggressive, aggressive, aggressive. No moral victory crap.
November 23rd, 2021 at 11:36 PM ^
We've got all week to gameplan, and no doubt we've set some practice time aside each week strictly for OSU prep. Here in my prediction for the opening drive:
Play 1: Haskins 2 yard run between the tackles.
Play 2: Haskins stuffed at the LOS trying to cutback with no holes up the middle bc the LBs and S are sucked up in the box with no respect for our passing game.
Play 3: 7 yard pass attempt on 3rd and 8 is rushed bc of pressure on the obvious passing down and incomplete. Had the receiver caught it, he'd be about a yard short.
Please fucking prove me wrong, Harbaugh.
November 24th, 2021 at 5:47 AM ^
You seem like a lot of fun at parties.
November 23rd, 2021 at 11:38 PM ^
Defense: that's going to happen. I have 100% faith in Macdonald.
Offense: I don't know. My faith in Josh Gattis left in the Army game when Charbonnet had 33 carries in the "speed in space" offense. What I've seen since then hasn't change much. THANK GOD Matt Weiss has been here and made changes. Maybe his changes will be enough in this game.
November 23rd, 2021 at 11:47 PM ^
Seriously? There were some beautiful plays in the last few weeks and your take is it is Weiss. Crap on him for crappy plays but also give the man his did respect for good plays. Be fair.
November 23rd, 2021 at 11:55 PM ^
I was at that Army game - if Shea hadn't spent 36 holes on the golf course that summer we would have won in regulation. People didn't trust Josh after that game but we had a half-engaged QB.
I do expect a game plan with enough twists and some "routine" stuff that teams like Oregon, PSU, and Nebraska showed OSU couldn't stop.
Payton Thorne had a pathetic game, which is why what could have been a 42-21 loss turned into 56-7.
November 24th, 2021 at 12:07 PM ^
I've never understood this myth that Shea playing golf somehow ruined him as a QB. Golf isn't even a contact sport.
November 24th, 2021 at 8:36 PM ^
Contact sport? No. But it’s a stupid sport.
Don’t trust anyone that golfs more than twice a week.
November 23rd, 2021 at 9:58 PM ^
Winning strategy. Score more points than the other team.
November 23rd, 2021 at 10:16 PM ^
That’s a bold strategy

MOAR MESH AND MOAR DEEP SHOTS!!!
November 23rd, 2021 at 10:09 PM ^
Limit OSU offense by keeping them off the field with long scripted drives. Includes running the ball a lot and passing when needed.
November 24th, 2021 at 10:41 AM ^
Like to see them run a couple of option plays and see how that works out. Have not seen that in any of there games.
November 23rd, 2021 at 10:11 PM ^
Would love to see them try to stop Denny Crum

Nervous Pervis.
November 23rd, 2021 at 10:38 PM ^
Counter trey all day long with the occasional fullback dive. Yep, catch 'em off guard. Throw in the dead goat drop and we have a plan that will reach the magic 45 points.
