Will Cade retain his cyan circle next week?

Corum and Haskins earned every yard the hard way. Blake took some rugged shots.

Yeah, that's still my concern. Wisconsin having a great run D aside, a significant portion of the offense is built to deliver the RBs into a mess of bodies. Sometimes it works like the Washington game where a crease opens and Corum can rip through it. Other times, they burn downs getting 1 yard with almost no chance of success.
Not every run will be successful, but far too often it seems like they just burrow into the line and hope to get 2-3 yards instead of giving Corum open space or Haskins a 1 on 1 with a LB/S and letting him stiff arm them into the center of the earth.

not a mechanics expert, but looking at Cade's early throws where he is missing low and behind, it looks like he is stepping towards the sideline instead of into his throws.

Yes, he looked hesitant and definitely settled in later in the game. I’ll give Harbaugh credit here.

After rewatching, my optimistic side says ~half of those "bad" passes are miscommunications between QB/WR. I don't know who is to blame on them, but it just looked like Cade was throwing to a spot that the WR was not going to. Hoping that we can get that figured out, and if so I think this becomes a good enough offense to win some big games down the road.
Overall, without the stress and anxiety of the original watch, I thought we better than expected.

You beat me to this by 11 minutes.
I hate being negative during what has been such a positive first five games, but there are quite a few passes that seem to be going to no one.

I watched the "Game in 60" last night on the Big Ten Network.
I'm loving how the season has played out so far...and the lack of turnovers has been a huge positive.
But, is anyone else concerned about some of the passes that seem way off the mark? Is there anyone with more expertise who can evaluate whether this is a QB issue or a receiver issue?

Every one needs to be evaluated on its own merits. Not all are decidable. What I DO like, though, in re-watching, is Cade's demeanor. He seemed wobbly in the beginning, but settled down as the game went on. In a way it's just as important that he stays in control after a miss as that he makes it.
EDIT: Cade looks even better on a third watch (of the second half). He had three throws, by my count, that were simply off, three or four that were catchable--broken up by good D play or couldabeens. He's more than a game manager; he's a good passer. I don't see J.J. passing him this year.

Also, this was first road game in front of a crowd. Camp Randall is not an easy place to play, I think he earns some credit for, as you said, settling in and becoming more efficient as the game went on.

I guess time will tell.
There have been quite a few instances in almost every game where it appeared as though the QB and receiver weren't on the same page.
But, it is early in the season...with new players at almost every skill position.

I didn't appreciate how much of a beast Haskins was in this game. He is certainly thunder personified.

He runs with such momentum into defenders and gains extra yards. I haven't seen anyone mention it, but I felt he got robbed of about 2 yards on his first carry after we recovered the muffed punt. He clearly runs to about the 2.5 or 3 and they mark him short of the 4? Hard to understand how bad that spot was.

Cade looked decent from the stands. Re watching though, he actually looks really good, and has made huge improvements this season.

I'll grant that the receivers might've messed up their spot a few times (like Baldwin not stopping in the soft spot in the zone) but some of the slants and things of that nature were just way behind. Hopefully just a function of road game jitters that are settled now

Thanks for providing these.

I don't think I ever noticed really before how Cade "flicks" the ball verses having a full throwing motion and stepping into it. He also seems to throw off his back foot a lot. Maybe that is just his style? Having these successive plays like this really made me see that. I wonder if that leads to him throwing short or behind guys at times.
I will say .... that throw at 9:25 ..... man .... a thing of beauty. It was a truly perfect toss by JJ.
