Adrian Martinez is a hand grenade with the pin pulled. It's only a matter of time until something is going to blow up.
It might be good, it might be bad. But something is going to explode and somebody's band is going to play.
August 28th, 2021 at 2:57 PM ^
And it just exploded last drive…gifted Illinois a halftime lead.
August 28th, 2021 at 5:46 PM ^
M-Dog, did you call it or what?! Awkward fumble for an Illinois touchdown, breakout run for a Nebraska touchdown.
August 28th, 2021 at 7:04 PM ^
Martinez gonna Martinez.
August 28th, 2021 at 1:42 PM ^
The Bielema pumping just won't end. It feels weird to see Peters. Kinda nice just to have "normal" football... iff you can call Nebraska-Illinois normal
August 28th, 2021 at 1:49 PM ^
You can't run the ball like Wisconsin without Wisconsin linemen.
August 28th, 2021 at 1:52 PM ^
He's out there coaching with a natty light...
August 28th, 2021 at 1:43 PM ^
Blind ref costs us two minutes.
August 28th, 2021 at 1:47 PM ^
This would be a very Big Ten start. Punter MVP, open with a safety.
August 28th, 2021 at 1:51 PM ^
haha. that was a NE captain? making one of the dumbest plays i have ever seen. way to go scottie.
August 28th, 2021 at 2:01 PM ^
That is one of the captains? are you serious?
August 28th, 2021 at 1:47 PM ^
Illinois punter is the star of the game so far, and it's not even close.
August 28th, 2021 at 1:48 PM ^
This just shows how little I’ve paid attention to college football this past year.
I didn’t know Illinois hired Bert.
What the hell?
August 28th, 2021 at 1:50 PM ^
I knew and then forgot since most of 2020+2021 is hazy and feels like on very long unfortunate day.
August 28th, 2021 at 4:07 PM ^
It surprised the hell out of me, too, when it came up in a thread a month or two ago.
I honestly have no idea if this is a good hire for Illinois or not. He didn't do a good job at Arkansas against anybody other than Mississippi, but presumably he has better connections in the Midwest.
It's Illinois, though. They haven't managed a winning season since Ron Zook was there.
August 28th, 2021 at 1:48 PM ^
I wonder if after the last punt went out at the 1 if Frost told his return guy to just catch it and make a play. Because that was a really silly decision.
August 28th, 2021 at 1:49 PM ^
An illegal forward pass from your punt returner who had retreated into the end zone.
Your 2021 Nebraska Cornhuskers, folks!
August 28th, 2021 at 2:00 PM ^
Probably should have been a touchback because the receiver's momentum took him back to the end zone and his knee touched the ground ending the play followed by a delay of game 5 yard penalty for throwing the ball. What was most fun was that O'Neill signalled Loss of Down instead of Safety first.
August 28th, 2021 at 1:51 PM ^
Why do they pay Dean Blandino?
August 28th, 2021 at 1:52 PM ^
Raise your hand if you had the first points of the 2021 Big Ten season coming on a safety?
vegas would have paid 15000:1 on that?
August 28th, 2021 at 1:56 PM ^
It's the Big Ten, so I'm gonna say 50-50.
August 28th, 2021 at 2:59 PM ^
And given it's B1G West, I'd say even better than that.
August 28th, 2021 at 1:52 PM ^
Really enjoying Nebraska football these days . Their decision to become a comedy routine was a really good move.
August 28th, 2021 at 3:52 PM ^
Scott Frost 4Eva
August 29th, 2021 at 8:52 AM ^
I've seen that "Oh shit! Here we go again!" routine before.
August 28th, 2021 at 1:52 PM ^
Peters has to be at least 35 years old by now. Came in the year after Henne.
August 28th, 2021 at 1:54 PM ^
Damn just as I typed that he got hurt. He’s gonna get another year now.
August 28th, 2021 at 2:10 PM ^
I don’t believe in jinxes, but yes, the timing wasn’t great. Realistically, the way Nebraska was playing Illinois pass plays, the QB was gonna get hit.
August 28th, 2021 at 1:58 PM ^
What?
Chad Henne's last year at Michigan was 2007. Brandon Peters' first year at Michigan was 2016.
If you're going for the joke, lean into it and say Elvis Grbac.
August 28th, 2021 at 2:00 PM ^
You must do well at parties?
(I was gonna say he came in with Ty Wheatley btw, so good call)
;)
August 28th, 2021 at 2:01 PM ^
My Michigan QB recruiting material kills.
August 28th, 2021 at 2:02 PM ^
Don't need NIL deals when you got social security and AARP!
August 28th, 2021 at 1:52 PM ^
I’m just here for this O’Neill crew. I always tune in to see excellence in action!
and by excellence I mean dog feces.
August 28th, 2021 at 1:53 PM ^
This game is as exciting as watching paint dry so far.
August 28th, 2021 at 1:57 PM ^
Still beats what was on last week: no college football.
August 28th, 2021 at 1:53 PM ^
Ugh John O’Neill still reffing. He’s the worst.
August 28th, 2021 at 1:53 PM ^
Did the BiG Ten refs blow that safety call? Seems to me momentum brought him into the end zone with his knee down. Should have been Nebraska ball on the 20.
August 28th, 2021 at 1:55 PM ^
By the letter of the rule, yes. But Taylor-Britt deserved for that to be a safety.
August 28th, 2021 at 2:08 PM ^
I agree, incredibly dumb to catch that punt and even dumber to try to throw it.
August 28th, 2021 at 2:04 PM ^
I think you are correct on the first part. Taylor Britt could have been flagged for a dead ball delay of game for throwing the ball. So, I think the proper call should have been first and ten Nebraska at the 15 yard line.
August 28th, 2021 at 1:54 PM ^
August 28th, 2021 at 1:54 PM ^
Peters hurt. Shoulder driven into the turf pretty hard.
August 28th, 2021 at 1:54 PM ^
Poor Damn Brandon Peters
August 28th, 2021 at 1:55 PM ^
Poor guy. Hope his shoulder and collar bone are ok.
August 28th, 2021 at 1:55 PM ^
Did Peters’ season just end?
August 28th, 2021 at 1:56 PM ^
Non-throwing shoulder so probably not.
August 28th, 2021 at 1:59 PM ^
Based on his demeanor as he was being carted off the field, it didn't look good.
August 28th, 2021 at 1:56 PM ^
Illini OL is a tire fire.
August 28th, 2021 at 2:09 PM ^
Screen?
August 28th, 2021 at 2:12 PM ^
Illinois, as usual, is a tire fire.
