Las Vegas Raiders release Mo Hurst
Well, that's a bummer. I thought he had mostly played well for them.
F@ck the Raiders
The Lions could use to help.
don't wish that on the man
Cmon...odds say some day we will catch lightning in a bottle and the stars will align.
The Cubs proved it!
only 44 more years to go!
It’ll be longer
I would actually love to see the Browns snatch him up.
Didn’t they get Clowney too? Hurst, Garrett and Clowney would be a hell of a DL
Me too. I'll be surprised if Berry doesn't try and get him.
I'll be even more surprised if he's successful.
He's the exact kind of rotational guy we could use after letting Ogunjobi go.
Not the DT news I was looking for
Only Quinn was worse that Mayock
Hope he gets picked up...
Somebody find this man a few more years of college eligibility!
On an admittedly limited snap count, he graded out as the #19 Interior Defender in the NFL for 2020 (per PFF). Can't imagine he won't quickly find an opportunity to contribute elsewhere.
Yeah, he's an NFL starter without a doubt. Only makes the NFL's puzzling decision to let Mo drop to the 5th fucking round even more stupid in hindsight.
Mo had a cardiac issue that freaked teams out, even if he had been examined by multiple medical departments (UM and Harvard, if I recall). He's still probably a steal for a team that needs a solid interior lineman.
What the hell are they thinking?
No, wait, don’t answer that.
It's Jon Gruden. Getting inside that man's mind is a ticket for a trip to a place few come back from.
Raiders haven't done anything smart since Gruden was hired the first time. Dumbest team in the NFL.
You do realize that the two largest NFL fanbases on this board are the Lions and the Browns...
Fully aware, stand by my statement.
Lions actively try to suck and the Browns are cursed by God due to their terrible uniforms. Doesn’t make them dumb.
Aren’t the Browns the team that played Jabrill Peppers 30 yards off the LoS?
wrong twice! the lions don’t actively try to suck, they just don’t give a shit as long as we idiots continue to show up...and the browns have great uniforms.
Sorry, I love your work, but I can’t agree with your take on a uniform that liberally uses the color of diarrhea.
You must be having some weird diarrhea...pretty sure mine is scarlet and grey. Once in a while, green and white.
i like your work, too - and i admit i assume you were as old as i am, so you'd like them too...ah, the perils of making assumptions on basically anonymous fellow board members based on their avatars, especially lately, amiright? ;-)
anyway - i take your meaning, i just like the simplicity and the old-schoolness. when the browns are good (i know, i know...), and they're playing on a muddy grass field? love it.
I think the Browns' first round draft picks since 1999 make them dumb, not their uniforms. Johnny Manziel, Justin Glibert, Courtney Brown, Brady Quinn, Brandon Weeden, William Green, Barkevious Mingo, Cameron Erving, Corey Coleman are all on the list and all-time busts.
But at least the Browns make up for it with quality coaching hires, having hired only 12 head coaches since concluding that Bill Belichick wouldn't amount to much as a head coach.
A case could be made that Bill Belichick is an average HC w/out TB running the offense.
So I'm guessing you missed last year huh? I get it, pandemic and all that but here's what happened in Browns town while you were away:
1. Went 11-5 and made the playoffs for the first time in 20 years.
2. Beat the Steelers twice.
3. Won their first playoff game in over 25 years.
4. Have the NFL coach of the year
5. Have an incredibly smart and talented GM in place in Andrew Berry. He "fixed" the O last off season. He's definitely fixing the D this year.
6. Are returning their entire coaching staff for the first time since Christ was a kid
7. Are the 2nd favorite to make the Super Bowl in the AfC behind only the Chiefs.
They aren't a punchline anymore. Not by a LONG shot.

You are quite right, mOld, Cleveland maybe is finally putting their joke-of-an existence ways behind them. 2020 was a strong year. In fact, I'd hazard to say their future hasn't been this bright since the 80's when John Elway was tearing Marty Schottenheimer's heart out every year.
I was in Florida for the winter from Wisconsin. Went to Great Clips for a haircut. Lady says, "You must be a Packers' fan." I tell her I grew up in Detroit, but adopted the Steelers as my favorite team years ago. The woman next to her say,"Don't tell her that, she's a Browns' fan." I thought I watched her closely, but at home I discovered she cut my left sideburn about an inch higher than the left. Accident? I think not,

This is just setting you up for an epic dong punch this season.
Frankly, being a Michigan fan, I'm surprised you haven't learned this lesson.
Jets
Have you seen the Raiders choices this off-season? They got rid of their very solos offensive line. They overpaid for a backup to Jacobs. They drafted Ruggs. Oh well, not my team.
Solos offensive lines are so yesterday.
Would be perfect for the Browns
He will catch on somewhere in the league. I would like to see him in Tampa.
Anybody know if he can play DT?
He has an overall grade of 77.9 on PFF, which translates to high-level starter.
He will be just fine.
At Raiders camp:
”Hey, where’s Mo?”
”Didn’t you hear? He’s in a better place now.”
”Oh, man, I’m so sorry! It was his heart?”
”No, really, he’s in a better place now.”
”Where?”
”Wherever it is, he’s no longer on the fucking Raiders. What do I gotta do to get released?”
”Play good, I guess.”
This is a bit of a head scratcher. Hurst was productive as well as on a very cap friendly contract. I think he would have had a 3 mil cap hit this season. They aren't really opening up cap space or saving money doing this. Odd.
Exactly! It’s the last thing their opponents will suspect!
Hurst was a solid player the past couple of years for the Raiders and a competent starter at a position that (as we've seen) can be hard to fill. Feels like he's going to be snatched up somewhere for cheap and likely be productive.
On the bright side, he's probably going to make much more money this season on a new contract than he would in the fourth year of his rookie deal.
He'll find a good landing spot. He's got some good years of production in front of him. I could see him on the Seahawks next year. He'd add some youth to that d-line.
Raiders fans are scratching their heads as well. From their SB site:
"It’s been that type of offseason for Las Vegas. It has been cutting veterans to sign free agents."
He'll find a spot easily enough. Ravens?
He did play well for them, but Gruden and Mayock are morons.

I am convinced the ghost of Al Davis is still haunting that franchise and making them do dumb shit in spite of themselves. Hurst is a productive DT, but he is not of the ideal size for a DT and the ghost of Al Davis cannot have a player like that in his franchise.
I wonder if this is a Julian Edelman situation in which Mo failed the physical. Otherwise I have no clue why you would cut a high charter rotational DT on a rookie contract before the draft.
