Fuck that--today's the day to rock out with your cock out!

May the pavement outside Skeeps rise up to meet you
May you break wind lying on your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face, and your vomit fall soft upon your shirt
And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand and say "Get up, you drunken, puke-covered sophomore and get your dumb ass back in class."

☘️? I like your "Irish Blessing" best. ?☘️
When I get home from work tonight, I'll find a stone in my driveway, call it a Blarney Stone, kiss it, and drink a beer. It will not be green beer - I refuse to put food coloring and fruit into my beer.
MARCH MADNESS BEGINS TOMORRO... Wait. Fucking Covid. A NCAAT opening weekend that runs Friday-Monday is madness, but in the wrong way. This is not natural. Somehow, the NCAA managed to fuck up the best 4-day weekend of the entire year!
Alas, this shall continue to be the best 4-day weekend of the entire year! Go BLUE!!!!
NIT begins today. Not quite as exciting as the larger tournament, but better than nothing. Pulling for Toledo to win out of the group - good for us, too.
If I'm not allowed to take the day off, I can at least show up drunk.
Dude - Everyone working at McDonald's is drunk...
Btw - are shamrock shakes still a thing? If so, throw some Bailey's in mine and let's have a party!

Yes, I had one last week. It was delicious.

Still live on the website.

I’m not Irish but have admittedly hazy, fond memories of the South Side Irish parade from when I lived in Chicago. Great time. Only complaint... too many Norte Dame fans; screw those guys.
Yes, lots of Domers in Chicago. Think about it, though. When else are you going to have an excuse to wear a bright green outfit?
Bang me. I’m Irish.
Posbang?!? Nooooo, I really shouldn't. I've got too much work to do....
Well, OK, maybe this ONE....
Go Blue!! Excited about all the basketball this weekend, one of my favorite times of the year.
This will likely be the first dry St. Patrick's day for me in a number of years. Not because of a problem with alcohol, I just don't really like it much anymore. Maybe I'll have some green milk later
Gonna be a sober St Patty's here. I'm just getting too old. I'll have a few drinks on the weekend watching Michigan win.
My only complaint is being expected to wear green around the NCAA tourney so even though I'm Irish I try to wear as little as possible so as not to be confused with a Staee fan.
That and it being it in the middle of tax season so I don't partake as much as I want. Either way I'll make it out for a Guinness or two later today to hear my buddy's band play. Enjoy the day all! Slainte and Go Blue!
May you all be in heaven a half hour before the Devil knows you're dead
back in the day dooley's opened at 0600 hrs IIRC.
that said, it's been since college that i did anything for st. patty's day. i do remember drinking pitchers with the reichsteiner brothers one st. patrick's day. that was a fun day.
Also my wedding anniversary. 32 years!
Happy St. Paddy's Day! And as always, to hell with Notre Dame.
No excuse to not start the day with an Irish coffee. Then replace the daily water bottle with Guinness.
Irish for a day is alright. Just not Figthing.
Happy St. Patty's Day all. Go Blue!
I see what you did there ?
Happy St Patty's Day everyone ?
The Hell with notre dame ?
Go Blue ???
Miss "normal" Boston on St. Patrick's Day, excuse me "Evacuation Day" so Boston city workers can get a holiday. Lines would already be formed in front of The Black Rose, Mr. Dooley's, etc... Maybe next year!
Queue the ABC Warehouse "Bargains & Bargains" commercial - a staple of my youth: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6AmESTuLKQ
Haha, nostalgia is fun?

that ought to be a 'guess the year' contest. 13" magnavox color TV (tube, not flat) for $162. and the 'new' walkmans with those fancy new-fangled CD's.
Not exactly PC, but on-topic (and probably familiar to many):
A Texan walks into a bar in Ireland and clears his voice to address the crowd of drinkers. He says, "I hear you Irish are damn good drinkers. I'll bet 500 American dollars to anybody in here who can drink 10 pints of Guinness back-to-back."
The room is quiet and no one takes up the Texan's offer. One man even leaves. Thirty minutes later the same gentleman who left shows back up and taps the Texan on the shoulder. "Is your bet still good?" asks the Irishman.
The Texan says yes and asks the bartender to line up 10 pints of Guinness. Immediately the Irishman tears into the pint glasses, drinking them all back-to-back. The other patrons cheer as the Texan watches in amazement.
The Texan gives the Irishman his money and says, 'If you don't mind me askin', where did you go for the past 30 minutes?" The Irishman replies, "Oh.... I had to go to the pub down the street to see if I could do it first."
Miss Ireland 2020 approves of this joke. And I approve of her.
To hell with Notre Dame!
Here's to ID'ing our first opponent!
I'm a tiny bit Irish--a many-great grandmother came from the emerald isle. I'll be heading home from work a few minutes early this afternoon to make some Irish beef stew and soda bread for my family's traditional March 17th repast. Might wash it all down with a Guinness or few. I'd offer to share the stew with you, but some years ago I took some to my elderly neighbor and the next morning she was dead--true story!

No doubt she departed with a smile

And happy St. Paddy's day to you, comrade! Skip the Stoli and go for a Jameson's shot and green beer today - good things will happen.

Listening to local music from the Emerald Isle today at work. Some decent options out there on Radio Garden.

Sober St. Patrick's day in our household. Working all day and waiting for news on how our dog's surgery went. He's getting a lung tumor and his spleen removed so we'll be on pins and needles until late afternoon hoping he did well. I've definitely had better St. Patricks days than this one.
Have the day off on Friday and I can't wait to finally just decompress, put my feet up and just watch some basketball.
March 17th, 2021 at 12:08 PM ^
I know that feeling and it's tough. Best wishes for a successful surgery. I'll have you and the pup in my thoughts today.
March 17th, 2021 at 12:16 PM ^
Thank you, my friend. The last couple of weeks have been very emotional here with figuring out his prognosis, but we figure if we can add another year or year and a half to his life and not worry about sacrificing his actual quality of life in the process, its a no brainer.
Dogs are family.

Maybe I am getting a bit older and maybe I won't be going out and drinking the bar dry with a bunch of my fellow Irishmen (we're all Irish on St. Patty's day) but I will still continue my annual tradition. I will pour a wee bit of Jameson's Irish Whiskey and offer a toast my late father, a true Irishman!!

And this would be a good day to listen to the Cranberries, No need to argue album. Zombie is a clear swipe at the IRA -
Counterfactual: Imagine if the Zimmerman Plot had been a success. The vanquished are not vanquished if they do not consider themselves as such.

I heard Bill Bennett tell a pretty funny story on his show a few years back, talking about the Irish propensity to get into fights. He grew up in an Irish-American neighborhood. He said you'd be in the middle of a fight and some stranger would walk up and ask "Is this a private fight or can anyone get into it?"
In fact, a great movie fight scene is in the movie A Quiet Man, set in Ireland. It's between John Wayne, an ex-boxer who moved from the US back to Ireland, and Victor McLaglen, the brother of the woman John Wayne is courting/marries. They have a 10 minute fist fight that winds through the Irish countryside and ends up at a bar where they share drinks before Wayne knocks out McLaglen. Very entertaining, if not a bit unbelievable.
Happy St. Patty's Day!
