Onwenu: PFF's Best NFL Guard This Week
Grapes of wrath continues to get good grades.
Some may say this is too much Onwenu content but I revel in Mike Onwenu and Duncan Robinson Day.
Long may they reign. Give us the buddy cop movie.

Give Warriner all the money.

I love the idea of them in a buddy cop movie.

This is one of my favorite comments i've seen on this site. The imagery is fantastic. Bravo.

Onwenu just needs to remember the Will Campbell incident and not try to slide across the hood of the car.

That's the twist. Duncan Robinson dents the hood of Mike's car all the time while sliding over it to get to the passenger seat.

Seeing him stretch into the Miami D lineman and leverage him off the line of scrimmage and drive his opponent into the end zone made a believer of me. The guy has gone beast mode. Great seeing him excel.

Why in the world would this be too much Onwenu content? Young man was one of our starters just last year! Good for him. Go out and represent yourself and your university.

I don't have anything to add other than to say that that's pretty fantastic.

In a similar vein, Cesar Ruiz good some good run at Guard for the Saints, before Peat got hurt. If Peat is out, he could be starting at Guard next week.

I would pay good money to see a Duncan Robinson - Michael Onwenu buddy cop movie.

If Big Mike continues to develop he'll be another example of how Belichick does business. Resigning current LG, Joe Thuney, who's a stud and a starter since he walked into Patriot Place, will cost $14M+ next year coming off franchise tag. Big Mike will be around $700k on the cap for the next 3 years. Belichick will save the $$ and take the comp pick rather than committing the $$, freeing that up for other areas.
Big Mike has been by far the Pats best rookie this year after 3 games. Following Chase from last year and who's becoming a stud. Odds on next M guy being a Patriot, I'm betting on BIG Ben Mason, who is the definition of a Patriot player.

It's hard to tell how far an athlete will go in the NFL, but I had an inkling Onwenu would excel. He's the sort where the laws of mortality just don't seem to apply. You shouldn't be able to max out a scale and move like he does.
At the same time the BPONE in me can't think back to his time here and not get filled with rage at how badly Patterson misused his O-line. I don't mean the losses per se, but the insult. The replays look like repeated slaps to the face. Devin Gardner would've wept on his knees for the sort of interior protection Patterson enjoyed behind Ruiz and Onwenu yet Patterson was all, "Nah, not good enough, Imma Leeeroy Jenkins again."

LMAO at the LeRoy Jenkins reference
It’s even more striking when you consider Bredeson was the LG as well. That’s a mighty group of NFL starter-level talent on the interior OL. (I know Bredeson isn’t a legit NFL starter yet, but if anyone wants to tell me he isn’t that kind of player, I will fight you.)
