Patrick Beilein out at Niagara
Obviously more will come out, but he’s out without ever coaching a game. He’d moved up from LeMoyne this past offseason. Ex Duke PH and Syracuse QB Greg Paulus taking over.

I read that he had back surgery at U of M in September, so maybe related to his recovery?
October 24th, 2019 at 11:28 AM ^
In that case I think he would just take a leave of absence and not completely leave the job.
October 24th, 2019 at 12:01 PM ^
Here is Patrick Beilein's quote:
"Personal reasons I can no longer take lightly have led me to step away from my dream job. Going forward, I must give singular focus to dealing with these issues, so that I can become the man that I strive to be."
It's a shame. The language sure suggests he...ahem...was less than faithful. Hope he can become the man he strives to be. We all have to walk this earth in our own skin.
October 24th, 2019 at 12:05 PM ^
I know the Beileins are very standup people, but I still would have trouble believing that he would quit his job and set back his career over simple marital infidelity. It's gotta be something more than that.
October 24th, 2019 at 12:08 PM ^
Could the problem be that his dream job is Niagraa?

Growing up I was friends with a kid whose dad owned a restaurant in Ypsilanti. He had an affair with one of his employees and the only thing that saved his marriage was to sell his business and move far away. So yes it's entirely possible.
I actually just ran into them not long ago and they're still together.
October 24th, 2019 at 12:50 PM ^
I do not believe that story one bit.
Why would he have an affair, then let his wife ruin his life that way.
Further proof: Most of us should absolutely NOT get married in the first place.

Or people who can remain happily married to a significant other without cheating. But yeah, far more likely the guy saying you can't let a woman "ruin your life" by trying to make it so her husband will stop cheating on her is the villain.

If you are, indeed, the pharoah of filth, I would imagine finding a partner is pretty challenging.
October 24th, 2019 at 6:45 PM ^
Fucking people, man.
Your entire thought process is bad, and you should feel bad. But the mere fact that you typed in what you did and clicked "save", means you almost surely won't feel bad.
I agree that people like yourself probably shouldn't marry. But thankfully, most people aren't like you.

"Why would he have an affair, then let his wife ruin his life that way."
His thinking process is so screwed up it's not possible to understand what he is trying to say.
October 24th, 2019 at 1:03 PM ^
I'm guessing that guy's restaurant was probably not doing well anyways though, so it was convenient to close shop and do something else.
Patrick Beilein is a rising star in the NCAA, and this will undoubtedly set him back and cost him hundreds of thousands of dollars. Also as an FYI, from my experiences marital infidelity becomes more or less "tolerated" as people reach certain upper income levels and are away from home often.
October 24th, 2019 at 1:12 PM ^
Nope. It was a very successful restaurant and most people from the area would recognize it immediately. It's still in business operating under the same name.

EYB has had 20 minutes to shoot this down. This was obviously it. I was going to guess Bomber, Sidetrack or that Dairy Queen right down the street but I think you nailed it.
October 24th, 2019 at 5:42 PM ^
Haab's has had the same owner since the mid-1970s.
I think Sidetrack has been in the same family for decades as well.
October 24th, 2019 at 7:25 PM ^
Was he talking about Deja Vu then?
October 24th, 2019 at 10:17 PM ^
No, he was talking about Dairy Boy, bro!!
October 24th, 2019 at 1:36 PM ^
Is there also one in Ypsi?
October 24th, 2019 at 1:34 PM ^
How dare the guy insinuate that an Mgoblogger would even associate with someone who was not eminently successful.
What kind of kerfuffle would ensue?
October 24th, 2019 at 1:31 PM ^
I'm glad you're so understanding about your wife and my special relationship.

Simple marital infidelity?

Just your run of the mill side chick. Doesn't everybody have one of those?

The 25% of married guys who cheat on their wives don't tell many people it......
October 24th, 2019 at 1:37 PM ^
I'd like to see the data and collection methods nailing this at 25% LOL
October 24th, 2019 at 1:42 PM ^
It was very scientific. They hired a bunch of hookers to go to bars and try to hook up with married men. Then they tallied the data and released their report.
October 24th, 2019 at 1:45 PM ^
Going to bars? I think that would slant the data. If that came out as 25% I would think the true number would be closer to 5%.
Unless the hookers were really undesirable to help balance it out.
October 24th, 2019 at 2:04 PM ^
The algorithms used are VERY sophisticated. The true number is 21.437%
October 24th, 2019 at 8:40 PM ^
5 significant digits? I believe it then.
October 24th, 2019 at 4:13 PM ^
The Kinsey Institute has it at 23% for men and 19% for women, at least in one sample from 2010.

Simple marital affair? Perhaps that phrasing indicates why you cannot fathom it. Not everyone thinks an affair is “simple.”
October 24th, 2019 at 12:34 PM ^
Maybe Viagra could fix the Niagara issue?
Sorry.
October 24th, 2019 at 4:09 PM ^
I'm sorrier that I didn't think of it first.
October 25th, 2019 at 11:10 AM ^
I would think viagra would only make the situation harder.
October 24th, 2019 at 12:15 PM ^
FWIW their have been fidelity rumors dating all the way back to when he was a GA at UM.
We are told from an excellent source that Patrick Beilein was not schtooping a side piece. He was trying to, but she hired a lawyer and reported him for sexual harassment. Please note that as this is not confirmed from more than 1 source, this is at this point a rumor not a fact.
