OT: JT Daniels, USC QB, out for the season
He tore the ACL and meniscus, so is out for the season. We've had lots of speculation about Clay Helton keeping his job after this season. Without his 5-star QB, does he even have half a chance of keeping it? I don't know who the backup QB is, but I've thought for a long time that Helton was done after this year. Meyer must be deleting some texts to make space for all the phone calls that Lynn Swan will be making...

That should do it for Helton and make Urban Meyer the next USC head coach.
At least, that is the rumor in S. Cal.

Urban is not going to USC. He is not going to coach at a school with lightweight AD who is absolutely clueless. USC wanting it to happen isn’t enough.
September 1st, 2019 at 10:56 PM ^
I heard some rumors today that Swan's also on the hot seat.
September 1st, 2019 at 11:16 PM ^
Did you hear that from someone playing Counterstrike?
September 1st, 2019 at 11:23 PM ^
Actually, that makes perfect sense for Meyer. With a clueless AD, Meyer can have free reign to do whatever he wants.
September 2nd, 2019 at 12:02 AM ^
After the fallout with Smith the last year, I agree that from Meyer's point of view it might be perfect to be in a position to have an AD that will bend to his will.
September 2nd, 2019 at 9:58 AM ^
Meyer and Smith didn’t have a falling out. The falling out was with Urban and Smith with Drake. I get the “Urban wants a lightweight AD” thoughts but the reality is any good coach knows you need a strong AD to partner with and USC has a nobody. I am 100% sure Urban isn’t going to USC but that’s just my opinion.....although I’d be willing to bet a Mgobeer on it.
September 2nd, 2019 at 1:00 PM ^
Oooh. He’s going after that Full House Aunt Becky Money!
September 2nd, 2019 at 8:13 AM ^
That's exactly what Urban wants a lightweight AD. That way he can do as he pleases.
September 2nd, 2019 at 10:03 AM ^
Swan is likely on his way out with Helton. If Swan knew what he was doing Helton would not still be the coach. Either way, I'd be shocked if Urbs wasn't their next coach.
And then Harbaugh can finally beat him, in the Rose Bowl.
September 3rd, 2019 at 7:54 AM ^
I heard that Spencer Strasmore is helping recruit Urban to USC.
September 1st, 2019 at 9:26 PM ^
Predictions on Urban’s salary at USC?
I’m thinking 5 years / 7.5 million... obviously with incentives.
Honest question though... if Urban becomes the next USC Trojan head coach... how many (if any at all) current Buckeyes enter the transfer portal to play for him? And who does he poach coordinator and assistant coach wise?
September 1st, 2019 at 9:36 PM ^
I think Swan will give him whatever he wants. If Swan is smart (he's not), he won't try saving a few bucks. I'm not sure the USC job will attract the top tenured coaches from elsewhere. Well, not with Swan as AD, anyway...
September 1st, 2019 at 9:37 PM ^
Whoever he wants! Hopefully Larry Johnson is on his way to socal with him.
September 1st, 2019 at 11:10 PM ^
Zack Smith is available.
September 2nd, 2019 at 12:29 AM ^
Urban is a lock for USC. Have u seen yes cheerleaders out there???
September 2nd, 2019 at 2:52 AM ^
Hell yea! Stud central!
September 2nd, 2019 at 8:23 AM ^
Sidenote: people tend to laugh and make fun of male cheerleaders, but you'd be surprised at how many of those same male cheerleaders have talked about how easy it is to get a date with the female ones. Clever ploy!
September 2nd, 2019 at 9:25 AM ^
Michigan had all male cheerleaders until 1974. They were mostly gymnasts, divers or pole vaulters from the other varsity teams. Newt Loken was the coach and they used the mini trampoline a lot,
September 2nd, 2019 at 10:05 AM ^
That's the way it was in 1964. Very athletic group, as I recall.
September 1st, 2019 at 9:27 PM ^
Does USC currently have a QB on the roster that fits perfectly into Urban's scheme?
September 1st, 2019 at 9:31 PM ^
I don't think so. Every time Urban takes a job it's set up perfectly for him.
September 2nd, 2019 at 12:04 AM ^
Transfer portal and a lawyer who can argue a case for immediate eligibility should do the trick.
September 2nd, 2019 at 7:10 AM ^
Tate martell will transfer to usc for urbs
September 2nd, 2019 at 7:36 AM ^
I heard someone on campus looked at Justin fields funny...
September 1st, 2019 at 9:32 PM ^
I think their backup is Jack Sears who entered his name in the transfer portal last week. I'm guessing he'll be back in the team next week.
Ed. Nevermind, he's 4th on the depth chart
September 1st, 2019 at 9:37 PM ^
I wouldn’t doubt that most USC diehards are giddy about this. They want Helton out, and this helps the cause. Plus, Daniels preserves a year of eligibility for the next coach.
September 1st, 2019 at 9:41 PM ^
Maybe I'm the only one that thinks Urban would never go to USC. UF to OSU was an upgrade. OSU to USC is a downgrade. I think Urban is done.
The only way he's not done is if OSU forced him to 'retire' due to the various issues from last year. But, I'm not 100% sold OSU would actually do that.
September 1st, 2019 at 9:45 PM ^
Hollywood is a definite upgrade compared to Columbus.
September 1st, 2019 at 9:52 PM ^
So are the coeds.
September 1st, 2019 at 9:59 PM ^
can confirm both of these.
September 1st, 2019 at 10:05 PM ^
I live in Columbus, I can confirm it blows here.
September 1st, 2019 at 10:29 PM ^
You poor soul you! Why do you stay in such a cesspool? Move!!
September 2nd, 2019 at 10:47 AM ^
A truer statement was never made. Comparing the two places is like comparing a juicy, prime filet mignon with a moldy Twinkie.
September 1st, 2019 at 9:48 PM ^
I think if offered, he takes it.
That USC Fox panel of Leinart and Bush are in his ear every week...and I don’t see Meyer as a long term analyst.
September 1st, 2019 at 9:58 PM ^
Ammoral coach who will do anything for enough money; ammoral school that will pay anything for glory again. It's going to happen.
September 1st, 2019 at 10:55 PM ^
I feel like USC is not as great of a job as people make it out to be. Sure it's got a lot of talent around it, but the area will always lean towards pro sports unless the team is really good. It's not a college football crazy school. Pete Carroll did awesome there, but he was like their 3rd choice at the time behind Dennis Erickson and Mike Bellotti.
September 2nd, 2019 at 12:08 AM ^
USC lucked out getting 'stuck' with a candidate further down the list, he was exactly what they needed to get people excited and interested in USC's program. Not just on the west coast, but the east as well. Meyer doesn't have the charisma that Carroll had, but the name recognition and general success should compensate.
September 2nd, 2019 at 7:12 AM ^
USC is such a recruiting hot bed, he could recruit better there than at osu, be like the good ole days with Pete carrol
September 2nd, 2019 at 7:40 AM ^
USC is a top 5 job under the right circumstances. Great facilities, in the middle of perhaps the strongest talent base in the country, campus, fan base a step up class wise from osu.
September 2nd, 2019 at 10:11 AM ^
I still think Meyer's likely next job is right back at OSU again. Ryan Day ends up being sucky and Meyer pulls a Bill Snyder and makes his triumphant return
September 2nd, 2019 at 2:49 PM ^
I wouldn't bet against this.
September 1st, 2019 at 9:49 PM ^
Lot more trouble to get into in LA than your first three stops Urbz.
September 1st, 2019 at 9:53 PM ^
He had a bad year last year. And now this this year. Hoping he can recover and get back on his horse next season.
As far as for Clay Helton, the schedule is very tough. There's no let up until November 16 against Cal.
September 1st, 2019 at 10:07 PM ^
they might win 4 mayyyyybe 5 games this year.
September 1st, 2019 at 10:13 PM ^
The artist formally known as the fighting rich rods lost their opener to Hawaii. I bet that is a win for USC.
Speaking of which, and not to get too far off track, but Mississippi unveiled their new offense with their new offensive coordinator and did it go horribly!
September 1st, 2019 at 11:21 PM ^
BYU, U of A, Cal and UCLA are all bad. I don't think Stanford, Cal or Utah are particularly good.
September 1st, 2019 at 10:13 PM ^
Urban Meyer ? ?
September 1st, 2019 at 10:49 PM ^
Man that sucks. USC gonna go, what, 4-8?
September 1st, 2019 at 11:07 PM ^
College football is better with a good Usc imo. Hopefully the liar takes the job...
