OT: Casey Mize struggling
after lighting it up and looking like the next Verlander, his last 5 games he gave up 6, 1, 6, 1, 5 runs respectively. He hast lost his last 3.
Matt Manning is 10-4 with a 2.57 ERA and 134 K's in 119 innings (our first round pick in 2016).
Reliever Drew Carlton has been a huge suprise this year also.

Sums up the Tigers
August 12th, 2019 at 5:08 PM ^
Cool. Now I know that Casey Mize is a baseball player.
August 12th, 2019 at 7:16 PM ^
I dont know if 6-3 in 14 starts with 3.22 ERA, with a Whip of 1.10 is Stuggling.
Yes 3 of his last 5 starts have been below his usual standard.
August 12th, 2019 at 10:55 PM ^
6, 1, 6, 1, 5.
Does he give up 1 or 0 in his next appearance?
August 12th, 2019 at 5:13 PM ^
hes pretty much a rookie in the minor leagues what do you expect? I suspect arm fatigue to be the factor.
August 12th, 2019 at 5:52 PM ^
Exactly. This is the longest season of his career. It’s perfectly understandable, if not expected, for him to start to tail off here at the end a bit.
August 12th, 2019 at 5:24 PM ^
He’s no Tommy Henry.
August 12th, 2019 at 6:51 PM ^
Evidently he is not Tarik Skubal either.
August 12th, 2019 at 9:45 PM ^
But will he be Tommy John?
August 14th, 2019 at 12:13 AM ^
I hope not.
August 12th, 2019 at 5:26 PM ^
I recall reading that he's working through an injury.
August 12th, 2019 at 8:07 PM ^
Don't you mean he's working through "something?"
August 12th, 2019 at 5:33 PM ^
A little more context here would have been nice. Is this a guy in the Tigers farm system? I'm a big baseball fan, but I don't know every team's minor league prospects and not every person on this board has the same pro sports affiliations.
August 12th, 2019 at 5:53 PM ^
Yeah, he was the #1 pick for the Tigers in the 2018 draft. He’s also the #2 overall prospect in all of baseball.
August 12th, 2019 at 6:17 PM ^
You sure you're a big baseball fan? You don't have to know all of every team's prospects to know who the #1 overall pick from last year was.
August 13th, 2019 at 9:10 AM ^
I don't follow baseball at all and even i knew who this was.
August 13th, 2019 at 10:31 AM ^
I guess I'll claim the fourth spot for completionist's sake.
I don't follow baseball. I don't know who Casey Mize is.
You're welcome.

Weren't you supposed to be hooking up with some spartie hottie, if you ever got up the nerve to ask her out?

We need OT discussions of "useful grooming products" or "things to eat at night while high and dieting." I actually need help with these topics.
August 12th, 2019 at 6:32 PM ^
Alright here’s my contribution for grooming recommendations. Really excited about getting this guy in the mail the next couple days...

For us follicly challenged folks that shave our heads, this is as good as it get.
I don’t burn anymore, but if I did, pork rinds would be my fix. I’m on a Keto diet so these things have been a god send at times. Just don’t get the barbecue flavor because it’s loaded with maltodextrin usually.
August 12th, 2019 at 9:41 PM ^
Hmmm. I was expecting a link to the verticoli until I read follicly challenged.
So are you saying this is as good or almost as good as a razor for shaving your head?
August 12th, 2019 at 10:10 PM ^
I would say it’s almost as good. Nothing beats a good straight razor but this is as close as it gets without a blade.

Pickles, cheese sticks, and sparkling water.

If only Mize went to Michigan. The meme potential of Casey M(a)ize would have been too good.
August 12th, 2019 at 5:59 PM ^
Mize had some shoulder soreness about 6 weeks ago after starting the season dominating Double A, including a ho-hitter. At first it looked ominous, but the injury was minor and the fact that Mize is pitching again at all this season should be seen as good news. They might even been limiting to fastballs and change-ups to protect his arm, which could explain why he's getting knocked around.
August 12th, 2019 at 5:58 PM ^
He didn't do much better as a hitter for Mudville, i hear.
August 12th, 2019 at 6:11 PM ^
Underrated comment.
August 12th, 2019 at 6:00 PM ^
He's also coming off an injury, so that may be a factor. Kid will be fine.
August 12th, 2019 at 7:24 PM ^
Because he fucked up his arm. He’ll never be the same. Typical Tigers luck.
August 12th, 2019 at 7:30 PM ^
Becoming a big story of late for the tigers is the emergence of AA pitcher Tarik Skubal who as a starter has struck out an unheard of 50%+ of the hitters he's faced since being called up to AA from high ball A ball six starts ago.
Skubal is just 22 years old and left-handed. You don't usually see a guy come out of nowhere like this as a 9th round draft pick 2018.
August 12th, 2019 at 8:21 PM ^
Coming out of nowhere is the only way for the Tigers to acquire talent. And all the Tiger pitching prospects should have restraining orders against Zimmerman-in miles not feet.
August 12th, 2019 at 11:05 PM ^
Need to focus on strikeouts, walks, and quality of contact for ML pitchers. There is also some regression to the mean in play here.

Joe Namath says, “hello.”
August 13th, 2019 at 3:03 AM ^
Don't forget that he's coming up on his new inning high. He'll pitch 150 inning this year which will be 30% more than what he's ever pitched. He's a young kid thats still trying to get his arm ready for a mans league
August 13th, 2019 at 9:03 AM ^
I thought he was a WWE guy...
