NFL Combine - OSU WRs are Crazy Fast
NFL Combine Results Says it All OSU WRs vs UM DBs ...
40 Times at the combine:
- Parris Campbell 4.31
- Terry McLaurin 4.35
- Johnie Dixon 4.41
That is crazy fast and no wonder we got torched by Haskins. Thank God they are gone.
Eagerly awaiting a comment from this new douchebag B1Gfootball2111
Are you gonna go cry to the mods?
Looks like the OP said everything that needs to be said. OSU receivers were much better at football than Michigan defensive backs, its not that complicated.
I have a feeling this is Shawn ....
Oh my god seriously, how is there not an "ignore user" button on this site yet?
For fuck's sake.
There kind of is. Push the up arrow next to the date of his comment.
Literally every other message board has an ignore user function that you click once and no longer have to see that person. It's ridiculous that with as many trolls as this site gets they haven't added that basic function here yet.
Where those other message boards created by professional web designers over multiple years? Well this one was!
Seriously. They just don't care, apparently.
The comments portion of this site has been botched over and over again. It's clearly not a priority for them; either it fell off the back of the site re-design backlog or it was never in the budget to begin with. Over the years people have asked for:
- The old down-vote auto-hide threshold back
- Reddit-style most up-voted on top
- Ability to hide certain users via preference
- Ability to report posts or users to mods
- To be notified when someone responds to their comments
To be fair, I come here for the main page content and rarely venture into the board, mostly because I think many of the users here are either Brian sycophants that are unable to form their own opinions or trolls. I might venture on to the board more often and stay on the site longer than the time it takes me to catch up on the main page if at least one of the items above were implemented.
....and I can't wait to see what name B1Gfootball2111 takes on next.
Never tempt fate before I've had coffee.
You realize you're contributing to (and encouraging) the problem here. Look I'm not being snarky, so don't cave me, please, but try looking at it from a different way. Account upsets people. You cave an account, a new one gets made. New account upsets some folks, they start whining. You cave new account. Upset folks are now encouraged to whine and call names when they get mad. Then you carry on conversation about caving said account and its now mgogold. Try letting the account stay, and cave the guys who start calling names, claim troll, etc. I'll bet the direction of this board changes. What you've been doing doesn't work, right? The goal is to have a less insufferable board, right? Change the plan of attack. Start caving ALL the insufferables. Again, this meant more as open conversation, not being a dick.
"Try letting the [troll] account stay, and cave the guys who start calling names..."
So your solution to the trolls is to...not ban the trolls, and ban the people calling out the trolls? And you think this will lead to less trolling??? I appreciate coming at the problem from a different perspective, but I don't see how not banning the trolls would lead to a better board?
This "plan" is like amputating your foot to get rid of a hammer toe.
You need to cave troll accounts and then have a minimum threshold or amount of time before they can contribute again, one level for comments, another higher level for posting and then make negative votes count against that threshold.
If you rarify the user group to people who have been around a while and don't post wildly unpopular comments, we would be fine.
If a troll had to:
1. Wait 1-2 months before commenting at all and being able to earn points on a new account, possibly with some number of sign-ins/views as a component that so they can't just wait it out.
2. Apply a simple algorithm to users where a drop in points X over a certain period of time auto-bans that user, say 200 points in a month for new users. The longer an account is in good standing, the higher that amount is, so if a user has been around for 5 years, they might need to drop 500 in a month to get banished.
3. Maintain 2,000 points minimum to be able to post.
If you create enough attrition for users to get banned, then create new accounts and make the community somewhat responsible for a new user even getting to the point they can contribute, you would largely solve the problem.
Under that scenario, a troll would have to create a new account, wait ~two months and sign in and read X number of times over that period, then contribute/comment to amass points while avoiding too many negative votes for another period of time before they could create a post. in the early stages if they were to say anything inflammatory or wildly unpopular they would easily get enough negative votes to just go away and have to start all over again.
Maybe that's too involved and too much work, but it seems like it would make the forums a place where only somebody who is invested in being here long-term we get to stick around. Anyone trolling would be lighting the fuse on their auto-dismissal right off the bat and rather than arguing, whining or bothering mods, people can just downvote and move on without engaging them.
Wait being fast makes you a better football player? Somebody better tell Jerry Rice. That dude was slower than most tight ends.
But not all...
Rice = 4.7 est.
Gentry = 4.91
Exactly! If that were true Gary would have been better than Bosa, or better than Wino for that matter
who says they weren't?
Faster = better at football. Prob not, but there is some validity here. Also yes I’m crying, but not to the mods, all alone, because Chris Olave is still there along with a whole bunch of wideouts ready to torch our DBs again.
All things being equal, a faster athlete will have an advantage over a slower athlete. Being fast by itself is not necessarily an advantage if the player doesn't have the other skills his position requires.
MJ14 brought up Jerry Rice as an example of a slower but brilliant wide receiver. The 49ers also had track star Renaldo Nehemiah on the team right before they drafted Rice; Nehemiah was blazing fast but finished his NFL career with a grand total of 43 catches over three seasons.
Let me give you a list of the fastest players to ever run at the combine.
John Ross, Rondel Menendez, Chris Johnson, Jerome Mathis, Dri Archer, Stanford Routt, Marquise Goodwin, Champ Bailey, Jacoby Ford, Jalen Myrick, DeMarcus Van Dyke, Fabian Washington, Darrent Williams, Tye Hill, Yamon Figurs.
I recognize 4 names on that list. Champ Bailey is obviously the one who stands out. Being fast does not make you a good football player. At all. In fact, most of these guys did nothing relevant in the NFL. There’s an even larger list of guys but what’s the point in posting it? Most guys who run a 4.35 or quicker do almost nothing in the NFL. There’s your facts. What validity is there that being fast makes you good??
Someone get this analysis to Jim. “Sorry son, you’re just too fast to be a Wolverine. “ lol
Purdue's DBs must be going 1-2-3-4 in the NFL draft, I guess. What do they all run, like 4.2?
There you go.
Seems like Urban Meyer WRs are always fast. Didn't he have like a 40 time leaderboard or something at Florida?
I don't recall the leader board thingy, but I do remember he only recruited Denard as a WR, and not QB.
Wait is that a bad thing? I mean I loved Denard and all, but he wasn’t exactly a good QB. You don’t think he would have thrived in a Percy Harvin type role in a Meyer offense?
He wasn't a good *pro-style* QB. He was an outstanding QB for the system he was recruited to.
He had a leaderboard at OSU, I’m not sure about Fla. While the receivers were fast yesterday, Kendall Sheffield will be the fastest OSU player at the combine when he runs today.
Not unless he can run on one leg.
It’s so funny.
@11W was awfully quiet while their basketball team they’ve given up on was getting blasted by over 30 points today.
All tweets about guys who don’t even play football for them anymore working out in tights. Wouldn’t have even known they have a basketball program.
Weirdos
Uhh.. did you not check the website? There's literally 3 articles and a game thread regarding the topic.
@11W = their twitter account
Not a peep.
WD, while I usually appreciate most of your comments, but this sounds like sour grapes. That is such a 'lil brother comment, come on you're better than that.
come on you're better than that.
Not really. The comments here line up historically very well with WD's typical behavior.
Tweeting other players, getting into pissing contests online with students of other schools, calling out Jay Harbaugh for being unqualified to do his job, commenting, ironically, about fans of other schools who didn't actually go to that school... lol.
WD thinks the world revolves around him and deep down, there's zero emotional intelligence there and he's got some growing up to do. DO NOT let the LAX and softball posts fool you. You're seeing WD's true colors in action right now.
Logged in to upvote ???
Also “i have information you don’t haha you have to wait and see” shit that he pulls.
This may be a pot calling the kettle black situation. As I recall, we here in the mgo community enjoy letting everyone know that Tom Brady went to Michigan
And saying, "We're a basketball school now!"
What does that have to do with their “fan blog” ignoring a basketball game with their team going on and instead tweeting about guys in the combine instead?
Tom Brady winning the Super Bowl didn’t happen during a game day much less during a game.
It’s just funny how they’ve abandoned that team.
Wd I used to enjoy your content, but for about 6 months now you’ve been a douche/ negative Nancy. I hope the football teams non success doesn’t rub off on your everyday life like it has on your social media.
Still not so good at sensing the irony in your own comments, huh?
OSU is a football school, bro
You are following Ohio States Twitter account, posting about it here, and calling them weirdos?

11W is a bunch of DBs...so there's that too
The next set aren’t going to be worse. OSU is filled with guys who would start at michgian. Michigan only has a few who would start at osu.
You cant recruit a bunch of under the radar types and expect to get speed like that.
I wouldn't go that far. DPJ, Collins and Black would all start at OSU. The difference is OSU has like 6-8 receivers that are able to start and play at a high level.
We lost 3 good receivers, but we also bring back 3 more good ones + a few more depth guys that are ready to contribute, and Garrett Wilson who could break out his freshman season.
I agree that our WRs are very good (easily the best players on that side of the ball). However, consider someone like Weber. He basically did nothing as far as OSU RBs go, and his combine performance is one step up from Higdon’s - the best RB we’ve had in forever.
OSU has so much talent all over the field that it’s crazy. When that team shows up wanting to play they’re top 3 in the country.
By his "combine performance", you mean his 40 yard dash time.
