1) Should be legal.
2) But it's not. The League should b***h-slap him.

Just to be clear, voluntary sex work should be legal. That's not what this was.

This story will get more publicity because of Kraft, and I can understand the temptation to make light of it from that angle. But the actual story here is that a series of "spas" in two Florida counties were holding and exploiting women as sex slaves.

There's a pretty significant human trafficking element to this story. I am usually skeptical of these cases as I see it as a fig leaf to bring more intrusive LE practices to bear, but in this case it seems legit.

By this logic, you handing over your wallet to a mugger is voluntary, so you shouldn't complain.
(And the immediate "but there's a threat of violence there" counter-argument should point you in the direction of the same argument against how sex trafficking works.)

this is a major downside of the kaepernick settlement. i can’t even imagine all the shit we would’ve found going through league/owners’ emails during discovery. kraft seems like one of the more innocuous ones, but can you imagine the skeletons in jerry jones’ or that assclown from the redskins’ closets?

That picture of Mark Davis is just creepy.
How is it a guy like Kraft, worth billions, would allow him to get anywhere near a thing like this. Guy could have himself a harem of girlfriends. Pay them for companionship only. Anything else would be between consenting adults.
On top of everything else, the man is a fucking idiot.

If he was just trying to pay for sex with a willing sex worker, I really don't give a shit. Prostitution should be legal for consenting adults fully in control of all their faculties.
If the person he was soliciting sex with was a minor or someone being trafficked into the sex business unwillingly, Mr. Kraft can rot in hell and I will purge my life of Patriots fandom until they are under new ownership completely unrelated to his family/associates.
Let's wait for some more facts here. The man hangs out with Meek Mill and wears custom Air Force Ones with suits - he's eccentric. He may have just slipped a masseuse a few bills for a "happy ending".

Sounds like it was at a massage parlor with some trafficked girls from china. Whether or not he KNEW they were involved in human trafficking is up in the air, but it doesn't look good.

Look good? No, it's horrible PR. However, whether he knew is pivotal to the morality of it all. If he knew he's a piece of shit. If he thought he was just doing something he's done multiple times with a consenting adult, then I don't really care.

I highly doubt that he knew. The places that traffick these women don't advertise the fact that they are trafficking them. If you go to a rub and tug that is mostly or completely staffed by Asian women there is a good chance that some if not all have been trafficked.

I can't speak to his personal knowledge of human trafficking. It's possible he was aware sure but my point was the places don't make it explicitly known.

The next time i'm in an asian massage house.... am i supposed to ask if she's there willingly?
This is a very strange proposition..... if he suspected something, he's going to call the police.
officer, Bob Kraft here, owner of the NE Patriots.... I was going into this massage parlor to get a handy..... and i think the girl was there against her will.
Mr Kraft, you realize that's a crime right?
It should be, she gripped so tight she damn near tore it off!
I say in jest....

Wealthy people are oblivious to all kinds of things because they don't the same existence as you or me. Think Wilbur Ross' befuddlement at why government workers would be irate over losing a 2nd paycheck during the government shutdown, when they could just "go to a bank and take out a loan". You get insulated from the rougher parts of life when you're living in an ivory tower.

I disagree.
If you don't know if everybody working there is there of their own free will, then you stay away. Human sex trafficking is everywhere and it's best to assume the worst at establishments like this one.

I highly doubt he was "fully aware" that the girl was trafficked (assuming its even true, I haven't read much about this yet). Rub and tug is very common and casual, its a whole underground world. I've never done it, but many of my friends have. Its hiding in plain sight. Sucks for Bobby that he happened to get busted.
Now, one line of thought is that you should assume all rub and tugs are trafficked, but what woman would "voluntarily" do this kind of work?

Even the take that if they were two "consenting adults" is questionable. I am quite sure that many prostitutes that are now "consenting adults" were not always that, and do what they do now because at one time they were forced to in one way or another. I am not sure what the after-market opportunities are for a formerly trafficked prostitute, I am guessing a bunch more prostitution.
Prostitution is generally illegal because it is seedy as hell, as is reflected in this discussion as to there being some kind of moral distinction between whether he knew or did not know that this establishment engaged in some degree of human sex trafficking. It is happening somewhere, regardless of whether this particular individual was a victim of it or not.

It's not that complicated. Damn near every European country has legal or semi-legal prostitution, as does Canada, and they don't have nearly the same amount of trafficking issues we do.
If something is made illegal, it attracts shady individuals and encourages additional illegal activity, because why not, you're already breaking the law.
Bring sex workers out of the criminal underground, make them pay taxes and get tested for diseases, and A LOT of the abuses in the industry will sort themselves out. Right now a prostitute can't really call the police to report abusive or illegal activity without getting themselves in trouble.
Rant over.
Sort of impressed that Kraft is banging away at 77. Gives me hope.

How would making prostitution legal work to reduce human trafficking? And how would a prostitute who is being made to perform acts against her will get in any trouble if they reported it? I like a lot of your rants but this one doesn't make a whole lot of sense. And I would like to see some statistics to back up the claims that human trafficking for prostitution is not a severe problem in Canada and Europe.
