Hello: Karl Kerska (K/P)
According to his twitter, Karl Kerska has committed to kick/punt at Michigan. Not sure if this is a PWO offer or a scholarship offer, but welcome regardless!
Truly blessed & beyond excited to announce that I am officially committing to the University of Michigan! I’d like to thank God, my family & my coaches. Thank You @kornbluekicking @kyle_brindza & @phil_jacobs16 for all of the help & support in making this dream come true! #goblue pic.twitter.com/qUdIxwSruu

He is rated as the #69 kicker and the #100 punter according to Kohl's Kicking, and the #22 kicker and #35 punter according to Kornblue kicking.
From Kohl's Kicking: "Kerska had a solid showing at the 2018 National Scholarship Camp. He displayed excellent coordination and ball striking ability. He was excellent on field goals by scoring 31 points on the field goal charting and finishing 14th at the camp in his class on field goals. Commanding his tempo and confidence should help him improve his kickoffs to where his field goals currently are. He showed the ability to roll out punt and scored points during the punt charting on it. Increasing his command of his drop should help his punting develop even more."

Can't update original. He was offered a PWO.

So correct me if I'm wrong, but we have going into next year a true sophomore kicker (Moody), a true junior kicker (Nordin) and now a true freshman kicker? Seems like he's either gonna be mostly working on punts or somebody is transferring. Possibly someone with a penchant for missing extra points and who has crazy hair
January 30th, 2019 at 10:18 PM ^
You never know w kickers. If you told me at start of last season that Moody would be our kicker - and we'd be happy about his performance - would have said you are crazy.
Welcome aboard, Karl.

Nordin is a RS junior. Guessing this kid is heading towards a RS too. Then as a RS freshman he will have RS senior Nordin and junior Moody. As a RS sophomore, he’ll have senior Moody ahead of him.

As readily as everyone maligns kickers, with the rules of the game being what they are, teams would sure be up a creek without them. DON'T TAKE YOUR KICKERS FOR GRANTED!!!

I'm good with multiple kickers on scholarship if it guarantees consistently good kicking

Heir to the Kohl's fortune?
January 31st, 2019 at 7:17 AM ^
That’s a lot of Kohl’s Cash

Usually, you can get a good kicker/punter as a pwo. No idea how good he is. You can only really tell how good someone is once they have to make a kick in front of 110000 fans.

Karl Kerska - it sounds like this guy was born and subsequently named to be a kicker/punter - so much alliteration potential

I just hope his middle initial isn't "K."
January 31st, 2019 at 8:26 AM ^
I took this in rural Texas. Subtle.
January 31st, 2019 at 1:55 PM ^
I wonder if I could get served in that place.
January 30th, 2019 at 10:37 PM ^
Is it just me or do the goal posts look wider than normal in those kornblue videos?
January 30th, 2019 at 10:46 PM ^
They look like high school goalposts, which are wider than what is used at both the college and NFL levels.
January 31st, 2019 at 1:21 PM ^
I've been watching football at all levels for decades and never knew this fact. I'm not very observant.
I did, however, realize that arena league posts were slightly narrower than the rest.

them are the thoughts i would want all of my kickers to have
January 30th, 2019 at 11:29 PM ^
I sure hope his middle name isn't Kenneth or something that starts with the letter K.
January 30th, 2019 at 11:59 PM ^
It's bad enough he'll forever be known as Kicker Karl Kerska.

Nice rating as a Kicker by Kohls
January 31st, 2019 at 4:20 AM ^
Both Kornblue and Kohl’s gave him an artificially low rating for fear of the buzz around a future juggernaut competitor in the kicking business: Kerska Kicking...

How did Bed Bath and Beyond rate him?
January 31st, 2019 at 11:56 AM ^
According to Bed Bath and Beyond, he often hits the Target.

Karl Kerska sounds like a fantastically Polish name
January 31st, 2019 at 7:20 AM ^
So since he's a PWO, does that mean there won't be an announcement video with a private jet? Is that only for scholarship K's?
January 31st, 2019 at 7:32 AM ^
I believe that, at least traditionally, PWO announcements are made from the back of a U-Haul rental truck, and that is only because it is one of the few vehicles which doesn't violate any known NCAA rules, being available to the general student populations as a means of blocking normal traffic for one week in August each year.

we could trade one to the bears, couldn't we?

Welcome, Karl! Go blue!
January 31st, 2019 at 11:25 AM ^
Hopefully Harbaugh has learned to never offer kicker scholarships.... seems our best always ended up being walk-ons... let them earn it and then give them the scholarship...not based on what they did in high school...

Welcome, Coral
January 31st, 2019 at 11:43 AM ^
Welcome Legs Kerska! Go Blue! No yips!

It would be interesting to see a chart with NFL kickers and punters over the years and how they rank in success and longevity relative to their high school rankings.
You almost never see kids go pro early due to the nature of the positions. It seems like more of a crapshoot then other positions.
January 31st, 2019 at 3:16 PM ^
We saw him play against our son's HS team. We were impressed with his punts. Glad he decided to Go Blue!

My Alma mater really came through this year. First time ever DHS made the state playoffs and now a PWO to Michigan is the icing on the cake. Dexter High School, a football powerhouse. Who knew?

Both his parents were very accomplished UM swimmers. Geh Blau, Karl!
