We knew more attrition had to be coming with the walk-on scholarships being handed out. Good luck to Reuben wherever he ends up.
January 28th, 2019 at 4:58 PM ^
It has nothing to do with that lol
January 28th, 2019 at 6:00 PM ^
Not related at all.

M. "Night" Rueben Jones

Not to be confused with Reuben James.
January 28th, 2019 at 7:14 PM ^
GTFO, ain’t got nothin’ on Kenny Rogers.
January 28th, 2019 at 8:30 PM ^
I just dropped in to reply to your "GTFO" comment..
I've got nothing against Kenny Rogers and the First Edition. I was playing their music on my college radio shows way back in the sixties and seventies, and any band with a song on The Big Lebowski soundtrack is okay with me. But their "Reuben James" wasn't the first "Reuben James" song I'd heard.
January 29th, 2019 at 3:39 AM ^
Just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in...yeah.
And I was just messing with ya. Woody Guthrie influenced generations but I give Kenny’s rendition the nod.
January 29th, 2019 at 12:23 PM ^
Agree about the influence Woody Guthrie has had on the generations of musicians who've followed him.
If there weren't a strict NO POLITICS rule here, I'd add a link to the song that referenced Woody's one-time landlord, but here's Woody's version of The Sinking of the Reuben James song (that is NOT the same song as the "Reuben James" song from Kenny Rogers:

Mike Jones!

I feel like we need to dig that thread out of the HOF now and again just to show some of the newbies the way that it could be sometimes around here. I think some of the hardest laughs I had on this blog were in that thread.
January 29th, 2019 at 3:56 PM ^
Send Farklestark a note when you do.
January 29th, 2019 at 9:48 AM ^
Do people think they're cool by posting this shit? "Who?"
A player on a team of which you are supposed to be a fan.
Idiot. Almost every time someone leaves the team some douchebag posts that reply.
January 29th, 2019 at 10:20 AM ^
That's because some of us have been here long enough to remember a rather legendary thread. But hey, you just keep getting mad online because you're not in on the joke. I'm sure that will work out for you.

Runyan will be the only scholarship RS Senior plus whichever walk-ons get one (Glasgow perhaps)
January 28th, 2019 at 5:35 PM ^
Agreed. I'm surprised Jordan Glasgow hasn't gotten a scholarship yet considering how much he has played.
January 28th, 2019 at 5:54 PM ^
he's gotten a scholarship once or twice
he has 2 NFL brothers - money isn't an issue lol
January 28th, 2019 at 7:18 PM ^
My brother is rich af. Certainly wealthier than an NFL lineman. I'm still waiting on my sibling trust fund.

His parents are both orthopedic surgeons.
Jordan and his brothers didn't lack money when growing up.
January 28th, 2019 at 11:56 PM ^
This is a stupid comment. Scholarships aren't given out based on whose parents need them the most. GRIII, and Tim Hardaway Jr didn't need scholarships either but they still got them because they deserved them. I highly doubt Harbaugh takes parents' (or brothers') income into account when deciding who deserves to be on scholarship.
January 28th, 2019 at 6:01 PM ^
He is on scholarship now.
January 28th, 2019 at 4:49 PM ^
Everytime I see a portal post, I expect it to be Brandon Peters. Am I wrong for that?
January 28th, 2019 at 4:51 PM ^
I'm surprised as well
January 28th, 2019 at 4:56 PM ^
Probably waiting to do it until he officially graduates from the school.
January 28th, 2019 at 4:58 PM ^
Thought umbig said he was sticking around through spring at least.
January 28th, 2019 at 4:59 PM ^
he may have and I just missed that
January 28th, 2019 at 6:10 PM ^
What's the benefit to sticking around the spring? Wouldn't you want that time to learn your new team's playbook?
January 28th, 2019 at 6:22 PM ^
Q. "What's the benefit to sticking around (until) the spring?"
A. Getting a degree from the University of Michigan if he needs the credits in order to complete his degree requirements.
January 28th, 2019 at 6:22 PM ^
Also, didn't Jake Rudock stay at Iowa in order to complete his degree requirements before he transferred to the University of Michigan during the summer?
If Brandon Peters is leaving, then it would make sense for him to complete his degree requirements first and then worry about learning a new playbook for his new team.
January 28th, 2019 at 7:13 PM ^
If he gets 90 credits at Michigan he will qualify for a Michigan degree, once he completes his requirements at the gaining university.
January 28th, 2019 at 7:31 PM ^
Yes, but the issue in this case is actually graduating from Michigan to be a grad transfer with immediate eligibility, presuming he's actually leaving.
January 28th, 2019 at 6:22 PM ^
He has to graduate from Michigan before he can transfer somewhere.
January 28th, 2019 at 7:36 PM ^
I mean he’s got to be going to CMU right? Probably already has the playbook seeing as the head coach was just on staff.
January 28th, 2019 at 9:32 PM ^
I had actually heard he maybe considering Purdue
January 28th, 2019 at 7:54 PM ^
As others have said, it's not about meeting Michigan's graduate requirements...it's about graduating and meeting the NCAA's.
So he'll be enrolled through the spring. See if he can win a starting job (highly unlikely, but you never know). Then he'll graduate either at the end of the spring or end of the summer and transfer without penalty and have TWO more years of eligibility.

We're all in the portal, man! Expand your mind!
January 28th, 2019 at 4:53 PM ^
I thought it was the matrix?
January 28th, 2019 at 7:42 PM ^
In Soviet Russia, the portal is in you!
January 28th, 2019 at 4:54 PM ^
Mmmm......Reuben
Good luck and godspeed to Reuben wherever he ends up.
January 28th, 2019 at 4:55 PM ^
He could have possibly had a role like Uche has had due to his smaller size, just never really seemed to materialize for him. Best of luck
January 28th, 2019 at 5:24 PM ^
Too bad and best of luck to him... but I now know what I want for dinner!
January 28th, 2019 at 5:29 PM ^
pkatz, that's just mean.
January 28th, 2019 at 5:57 PM ^
That looks so good. I feel my arteries clogging just staring at it.
January 28th, 2019 at 9:29 PM ^
f-ing A, man ... put me in the portal for that Rueben !
January 28th, 2019 at 5:42 PM ^
He'll always be the answer to a UM football trivia question ("Who was Harbaugh's first recruit?").
Also, it says "something about something" that Michigan will have only one 5th-year senior contributing next year.
