OT: New Hockey Announcer - Snoop Dogg

I would buy the NHL package and watch all 80+ Kings games just for 10 minutes of this:
"He fired on cuz’, hold on now! Get it crackin’ then, let’s go!"

I have listened to probably a total of 20 minutes - intentionally, could have heard songs in passing or on the radio that I'm not aware of - of Snoop Dogg songs in my entire life. But I think he's one of the funniest guys out there. His show with Martha Stewart killed me too.

You may consider your Snoop provided entertainment incomplete if you haven't seen "Snoop Dog Narrates Planet Earth." Seriously, your next stop after reading this should be YouTube

"Video unavailable"- is it just me?
Edit:
I'm dumb but I dug it up on the YouTube app.
I like this idea: your favorite celebs or even the characters they play make cameos for live sporting events.
Will Ferrell, Christopher Walken, John Malkovich...
I guess most actors aren't always the best at improv, so might not be that easy to pull off, but I'd watch.

Yeah... not a huge fan. I recall Marshall Mathers having a rough go of it at a football game once.
January 14th, 2019 at 1:32 PM ^
To be fair, Marshall mathers would not be my first choice.

But you've got to go local. And I think the market had already been saturated with Ted Nugent and Kid Rock.

The Kings have been holding "hockey nights in LA" this season for Saturday home games, where they host a local celebrity that participates in pre-game show, puck drop, and then spends about 10 minutes in the booth. I think so far they've had Jeff Garland, Eric Stonestreet, The Ellen producer, and the Richard Hendricks guy from Silicon Valley (yeah, the not-funny one). Some of it has been okay but mostly it is cringe inducing. I don't want to listen to the Ellen producer literally doing play-by-play or Snoop referring to all-world defenseman Drew Doughty as "hey #8". Hendricks was in-character the whole time as a Canadian broadcaster...thank goodness for the fast forward button on my DVR.
Of note, part of the Kings broadcast crew, and Kings "Insider" is a UM grad and big-time fan. If he is reading this, I find him insightful, knowledgeable, articulate, and handsome.

Just a different flavor of Mickey Redmond. Leave it to the hockey guys imo.
January 14th, 2019 at 12:13 PM ^
I don't see how you can compare Snoop and Mickey. Mickey Redmond played in the NHL for 9 years and is obviously very knowledgeable about the game. He may not be the best at articulating it due to age, potential CTE, whatever, but he's a far cry from a random celebrity calling a game. I understand that he has his quirks and sayings ("Oh look out!" & "Holy Mackerel!"), but I think its a nice contrast from all business Ken Daniels.
January 14th, 2019 at 1:03 PM ^
I love Mickey, precisely for the "Look out!" "Here we go!" which I feel is kind of what they're trying to bring in with some of the celebrities. But that's exactly why I suggested that it be left to the former hockey guys. Generally, it comes before what is actually going to happen and you're not let down when you see a big hit or the gloves drop. Most of the time, the celeb guys/gals are just being fans in the booth and don't add anything. so, in that sense, my just another flavor comment could be better phrased. as an aside, plenty of respect for ken daniels, but I still like listening to dave strader broadcasts.

I saw this on my timeline over the weekend. Snoop loves hockey, he goes to a lot of Kings and Ducks games. Doesn't know the players, but loves the physical side of the game. He did some videos for the NHL last year during the playoffs. I encourage anyone who liked this video to go watch those as well.

I would pay to see the Doggfather on skates.
January 14th, 2019 at 12:57 PM ^
The Kings are below the Red Wings in points. I guess they are desperate to do something to generate interest. I wouldn't tune in for the Snoop rap call, though.
January 14th, 2019 at 1:13 PM ^
Yes, they are not very good so mgt has resorted to distracting fans w/gimmicks.
January 14th, 2019 at 1:23 PM ^
Worked before when they brought in Gretzky.
January 14th, 2019 at 4:33 PM ^
That guy wasn't even a very good rapper.

Will a 12 pack of Coke get my family and I into the Staples Center?
January 14th, 2019 at 2:16 PM ^
You will need to bring a giant orange elbow macaroni, too.

Like free curly fries if the team scores more than 3 goals? #eatatarbys

Snoop is a national treasure.
Also, contrary to popular belief, both he and Martha Stewart are convicted felons. And I'm pretty sure they've fucked at least once.
January 14th, 2019 at 2:12 PM ^
I almost gave you an upvote for the "Snoop is a national treasure" comment. Then you permanently scarred me with "I'm pretty sure they've fucked at least once." There are not enough negative points to award you for that mental image.
January 14th, 2019 at 4:12 PM ^
Anyone who says they wouldn't bang Martha is a liar.

Snoop was HILARIOUS!!!

I dont get why this scumbag is so popular .
