As a Seahawks fan and…

As a Seahawks fan and Michigan fan this is something I do not want. It’s always hard to tell with Pete Carrol coordinators how much of it is Pete dictating what he wants them to do, but I still do not want. The hawks defensive should have been a strong point this year and it was utterly dissappointing.

Well, based on that map I…

Well, based on that map I got my single ticket squarely in the Washington section, 316. Pray for me everyone.

Going to piggy back this and…

Going to piggy back this and ask if anyone knows what sections/pockets UM fans would sit in? Assuming a playoff that has Georgia #1 and UM #2, and then those teams meeting in the final, my guess is UM would get the visiting sideline at lucas oil.

Lack of DT depth is on…

Lack of DT depth is on Harbaugh. If he wanted to go pick up more DT's in previous classes I'm sure some 3*'s could have been had. I don't blame anyone for not bringing in 5* DT's because every program is trying to get them. I'm sure people will have their opinions, but if we are talking about the most important group on the field I say it's your front 4. The defensive line can be run stuffers and make a secondary look good based on the pressure they can apply. If anyone thought we had a chance after seeing this DL even from game 1 they were dreaming. You can gameplan all you want, but if you don't have 'dudes' you're not going to win.

I think JH has probably had…

I think JH has probably had people looking into how we can take advantage of this already. I think of this similarly to trips across seas for the team. He found a way to provide a perk and recruiting tool that other schools weren't doing and took advantage of the Michigan money cannon. I bet we won't be far behind, or behind at all, other schools in order to gain commitments from top recruits by *exploiting* the new rules.

if it were everything we…

if it were everything we would have won a couple games the past 15 years at home against OSU.

From a run game perspective…

From a run game perspective I'd say lackluster performance from the OL, and it only seems like they have regressed every game. From a pass game standpoint YOU ACTUALLY HAVE TO THROW THE BALL DOWNFIELD!!! I don't know if that's a coach issue or Shea not pulling the trigger, but from the naked eye I'd say it's more on the coaches.

are we saying it was 'new'…

are we saying it was 'new' just because it worked well? I agree with everyone that the offensive gameplan on that day was great, but was it necessarily 'new'? The point I'm making, and I think some others would make as well, is to just run your offense no matter what game. It's the coaches job at the end of the day to identify the specific plays, or mismatches, that will help win the game, not hiding away special plays in hopes the opponent will be fooled. Let's remember, these are college kids and they aren't memorizing every play from the opponent.

I would imagine there is…

I would imagine there is some game theory going into an opponent like "this is the way we see it playing out and we'll be able to run the ball more", but if I'm thinking about our personnel I'd be looking for a 60/40 pass/run split where DPJ/Nico/Black get 85-90% of the targets and Charbonnet/Turner split is 80/20.

My bigger gripe is why our playbook isn't more multiple in the looks we give. Watching all these NFL games this past week, some of the play designs were great. What happened to the quick screens for a free 5-8 yards, deep TE crosses, etc. from the first 2 yrs? Did that leave when Jedd left?

One thing you notice about the patriots, especially in the playoffs, and OSU in the game the past few yrs, is that their offense comes in, sees a weakness in the D they want to expose, and they go after it until it doesn't work. Wow, what gd simplistic and efficient approach.

Yes, nothing ever happened…

Yes, nothing ever happened face to face, it was in the stands, police handled it, kid was kicked out of school and even had a face to face with Fields to apologize and said they were on good terms. Yet we all know this will go through because as stated above the NCAA doesn't want to deal with the backlash. If this truly was an incident where the kid felt threatened or unsafe I would have no issue with the NCAA allowing for immediate eligibility, but there are too many facts about the case that everyone with any common sense can see this kid wants to transfer because of playing time and needs a good enough excuse to do so and play right away.

I'm intrigued, and I'll say…

I'm intrigued, and I'll say this. The people who say we can't throw the ball too much or spread it out cause our OL struggles and that's how Shea will get hurt and our season will be over, blah blah blah... Listen, Shea is a big boy who can take hits and is elusive enough to avoid the big ones, and guess what, if McCaffrey has to go in there I'm sure the drop off isn't going to be catastrophic, the kid can play. Let these kids ball out and put numbers and confidence on the board.

Once the team has won a…

Once the team has won a National Championship of course, right? Right!?

This is a good point, it's…

This is a good point, it's not like our OL is in the bottom half of all college football teams, if anything I'd say we have a top 20ish OL, but obviously we want it to be elite. There are teams with far worse offensive lines and guess what, when things break down the QB can make plays with his legs, and so can ours.

I saw this on my timeline…

I saw this on my timeline over the weekend. Snoop loves hockey, he goes to a lot of Kings and Ducks games. Doesn't know the players, but loves the physical side of the game. He did some videos for the NHL last year during the playoffs.  I encourage anyone who liked this video to go watch those as well.

Something I think of (and it…

Something I think of (and it's not apples to apples, but it's a comparison) is Beilein telling Teske if he doesn't shoot 3's he'll put him on the bench, an actual thing John Beilein did say. If you force guys to expand their games, and then actually give them the opportunity to do so without punishment, it will make the team less predictable and in turn give the play calling more freedom. Look what it's doing for the basketball team, everyone on the floor is a threat to score.

I think we are all praying…

I think we are all praying for this.

why is this comment getting…

why is this comment getting negged? It's the truth, hopefully Harbaugh gives Gattis the freedom to run the offense with a little more pace and do his thing, otherwise there won't be much change in philosophy from this year.

hopefully he is handing over…

hopefully he is handing over the reigns.

I Laughed out loud at my…

I Laughed out loud at my desk. This was good.

I see both sides of this,…

I see both sides of this, but this makes it open season for every other kid to make this claim if it goes through. NCAA basically becomes free agency and kids can claim they feel unsafe and make up an allegation of hostility.

Some comments in this thread…

Some comments in this thread triggered me to look up Time of Possession (TOP) for Clemson and Michigan this year.

In 15 games, Clemson "won" the TOP battle in 5. in 13 games Michigan only "lost" the TOP battle in 2, WMU and UF.

The point I'm making is Harbaugh needs to do away with "protecting" the defense and "body blow" mentality. That may work in the NFL (that is changing), but not in college with the best vs best matchup.

Get a couple great personnel groupings out there (Evans, DPJ, Black, Collins, Eubanks/Mckeon) that can line up in a bunch of formations, which all those guys can do, and run a little tempo. It doesn't have to be hyper speed, but making it more of a playground type game is proving to be the way to go.

Woodson said just last year…

Woodson said just last year when asked on twitter if he would join Jon Gruden's staff in Oakland if asked that he would give it some thought. It's a long shot, but he has a passion for this university so I don't think it has "zero chance".

This is an overreaction, but…

This is an overreaction, but a part of me wishes, in some alternate universe where things are guaranteed to happen, that Harbaugh leaves and we hire Brent Venables and he implements the same offense and defensive philosophy they have at Clemson. That get's us closer than where we are now.

Larry Foote please! guy has…

Larry Foote please! guy has gotten some experience in the pro coaching, and we know he bleeds maize and blue.

I never thought basketball…

I never thought basketball as a sport would help my depression, but here we are.

Sam Webb just said this is…

Sam Webb just said this is not true.

If you listen to Mike Leach…

If you listen to Mike Leach talk about balance you might have a different take. He views balance as balancing out the number of targets/touches each guy is getting on offense. Balance isn't determined by run/pass so much as balancing where you are going with the ball that keeps the opponent on it's toe's.

Same. Not saying I want…

Same. Not saying I want Harbaugh out, but man this would get me super excited, and he'd probably be going with the same blue print as Clemson had, even on offense, which I'm sure this fan base would be ok with.

Don't know if serious. I…

Don't know if serious. I hope not.

*Face palm*, something I…

*Face palm*, something I never want to hear next year.

I'm not trying to come off…

I'm not trying to come off as screaming to open it up. I get the crowd that says "extra guys in to block". That's fine, leave the RB and TE in to block and have DPJ/Nico/Tarik run the routes.

Urban Meyer, Pat Fitzgerald,…

Urban Meyer, Pat Fitzgerald, Jeff Brohm, Scott Frost, Maybe PJ Fleck and Mark Dantonio.

That's the list of Big Ten Coaches that take this years team to the playoff. Don't kid yourself.

What an ultimate plot twist…

What an ultimate plot twist that would be. Urban pissed off at OSU so he comes to Michigan and turns the tables. Would any UM fan care if he wins games? I certainly wouldn't. Wasn't it said to be in his contract at Utah that the 3 schools he could leave to go to without buyout (or significantly less) were OSU, ND, and UM?

I think it's outlined in the…

I think it's outlined in the post really well about what areas to stick close to, if you do you should have no problem getting more than the usual verbal stuff. I have seen the full cans of beer throw at grandma's and grandpa's from the porch though. Hopefully Michigan starts a run here and more people are willing to travel to the game.

I wouldn't advise this…

I wouldn't advise this. Prime area for your car to get f'ed up if you have Michigan plates or stickers on your car. you are in the heart of student housing and the edge of a bad area. plus walking to campus you will get harassed by all the students already partying. I've seen it time and time again.

my wife is an osu grad and lived in this area for 2 years.

Good!

I have the same question. Is there a website to find this or certain day it is released?

I think he's still raw in…

I think he's still raw in that position. Remember, he was originally a WR recruit. I think it shows good signs that he's been able to see the field with the defense we have. Also, this play was definitely not his fault.

Someone check coach Harbaugh…

Someone check coach Harbaugh's likes on twitter, I pray he has liked one of these tweets

Here for the bang party

Did anyone watch just past…

Did anyone watch just past the point they stopped asking about Shea? They asked Haskins who his favorite character on friends was!?!? These high profile college athletes and pro athletes have to get annoyed with some of the stupid and pointless questions they get asked. We need more MGoReporters in the world to ask football relevant questions.

I'm more worried about ND…

I'm more worried about ND dropping a game and competing with them instead of Bama. Bama is a wagon who probably isn't losing this year. Plus, is any Michigan fan going to be that disappointed if we win the rest of our games and win the B1G championship, but get left out of the playoff? Maybe a little, but I'm still going to be happy as hell for the season we'd have.

NC State and WVU never…

NC State and WVU never played. That game was cancelled due to weather.

This is the constant debate…

This is the constant debate on the blog and I think you said it perfectly. I personal like to speculate, and if others don't want to that is fine. I definitely hope the players and coaches are just taking it one game at a time.

I'm rooting for whatever…

I'm rooting for whatever gets Michigan to the B1G championship game. Plus, I'd have a hard time believing a 1 loss B1G champ who's only loss was the 1st game of the year on the road by 7 to an undefeated playoff team gets left out. That would be levels of unprecedented.

I also do pretty much the…

I also do pretty much the same except only on the ML. PSU is +340. I also like to bet on OSU if they start losing and a live ML bet is even or plus money, then if they lose, great, if they come back I win cash.

I hope this a joke. Don…

I hope this a joke. Don Brown makes $1MM. DJ Durkin made $2.4MM last year. Any coach that is a coordinator would make more money at a power 5 program. Now would it be a smart move to go somewhere that's set up to fail and basically be fired after 5-6 years? Probably not.

IIRC the question has been…

IIRC the question has been posed to him multiple times with him kind of laughing it off and saying he basically wants to end his career here.

He's probably decided which…

He's probably decided which girl to date. High school kids man, think of what you were really concerned about at that age.
