DOWN GOES DU... Ugh, never mind.
Of course the refs didn't call a foul on Duke when the FSU player who went up to rebound a missed Duke FT couldn't keep the ball from going out of bounds because he was being held. And of course the refs overturned the out of bounds call in favor of FSU and gave Duke the ball back. And of course they put time back on the clock. And of course Dickie V and the rest of ESPN's insufferable crew called the game as if they were cheerleaders for Duke. Why? Because Duke, that's why.
Having said all that, how do you let a dude get that wide open on a game winner? He had no one within ten feet of him!
January 12th, 2019 at 4:53 PM ^
The ball was clearly off FSU and they only put .2 back on the clock. FSU was getting the whistle all game, not Duke.
January 12th, 2019 at 4:57 PM ^
From the overhead view, it looked to me like it could have gone off the Duke player because the trajectory of the ball appeared to change when it passed over him. Based on that, I don't think there was indisputable video evidence to overturn the on-court call.
But when Duke is involved, gray-area calls will always be resolved in their favor.
January 12th, 2019 at 5:00 PM ^
Well you're probably the only person you thought that. The trajectory of the ball didn't change whatsoever when it passed White and all the other angles minus the overhead clearly showed it didn't touch him. Being mad they overturned that is being mad because it's Duke. If that were Michigan and they didn't overturn it, like you are asking, you would have made a similar thread here talking about how the refs are rigging the game against Michigan. It was the right call.
January 12th, 2019 at 5:01 PM ^
Nevertheless, I'm still outraged.
January 12th, 2019 at 10:15 PM ^
Nice! Stick to your guns. Hell yeah!
January 12th, 2019 at 5:04 PM ^
I thought the trajectory changed too.
January 12th, 2019 at 9:18 PM ^
looked like the ball had a pretty decent spin towards the baseline, which is why it bounced that way.
January 12th, 2019 at 7:10 PM ^
I thought the spin of the ball changed and the ball touched White’s finger
January 12th, 2019 at 4:56 PM ^
It was very...... Duke-ish. I will that.
January 12th, 2019 at 6:29 PM ^
Did someone get kicked?
January 12th, 2019 at 4:56 PM ^
This gets my early vote for dumbest headline of 2019
January 12th, 2019 at 5:26 PM ^
There are far toooo many to rate this high.
January 13th, 2019 at 12:45 AM ^
It’s a poor title nonetheless. How difficult is it to type “Dook.”
January 12th, 2019 at 8:28 PM ^
You haven't been paying attention then.
January 12th, 2019 at 10:16 PM ^
Sooooo...you haven't been on much since the new year. Got it.
January 12th, 2019 at 10:57 PM ^
In your defense, you did try and state 2019, however there are huge candidates for number 1. Such as,”Do you want Michigan to lose?” Check in more often!
January 12th, 2019 at 4:56 PM ^
TV Teddy strikes again.
January 12th, 2019 at 4:57 PM ^
Fuck Duke... that is all.
January 12th, 2019 at 5:02 PM ^
Screw dook and coach krewjuwuski.
January 12th, 2019 at 6:45 PM ^
I believe it’s pronounced “ker-zee-zew-ski”
January 12th, 2019 at 9:17 PM ^
Krizooski.
January 13th, 2019 at 9:08 AM ^
It's chef chef ski.
January 12th, 2019 at 5:14 PM ^
FSU had its chances. They got a gift with Zion being sidelined the entire second half. They left Reddish all alone on that last play and gave him a wide open look at a three. Duke was not missing from behind the three point line. Was a huge defensive breakdown.
I get it, my friend. I hate Duke, too. I wanted nothing more than to see them go down. I wanted Michigan to rise to numero uno this week.
By the way, Duke getting the ball back with 2.5 seconds left was the right call. Absolutely sucked to watch, but it was the right call.
January 12th, 2019 at 5:28 PM ^
I had the customary "When Duke loses, America wins" tweet all lined up, and then.....delete.
Damnit.
January 12th, 2019 at 6:04 PM ^
I did the same with the Michigan/Msu football game a few years ago . Glad i waited until the final play was over
:(
January 13th, 2019 at 12:14 PM ^
I was there...and it was my birthday. :(
January 12th, 2019 at 5:41 PM ^
Duke is the best team in the country talent-wise. It is amazing what their freshman are doing. I still think a team like ours (Gonzaga is pretty similar which is Duke’s only loss) is what will take down Duke in the tourney.
January 12th, 2019 at 8:40 PM ^
Generally, Duke loses when they settle for 3's/jump shots. My hope is that Michigan and Duke are 1 seeds and someone beats them before the Final 4.
January 12th, 2019 at 9:59 PM ^
That's what I'm hoping for as well, maybe like last year have MSU and Kansas in Duke's draw.
January 12th, 2019 at 10:20 PM ^
Ugh, no gracias. I mean, I want Duke to be in a horrendously tough region, but with that trifecta you propose, could you imagine how nauseating it would be if msu somehow goon’d their way out of that region? I mean, it probably wouldn’t happen because coach K absolutely owns izzo, but I’d rather face Duke in the FF than msu.
January 12th, 2019 at 10:35 PM ^
Gonzaga as the 2 seed in the East would be nice, but Gonzaga will probably be the 2 in the West.
January 12th, 2019 at 9:37 PM ^
My hope is that someone takes Duke down in the tourney before we ever even have to come across them. Talent-wise, they have everyone in America beat hands down. Michigan included. But if we have to play them, we have a huge edge in one area they can’t get anything in before they’d play us.
Experience.
No one on Duke’s current roster has been in a game as remotely big as most everyone on Michigan's roster. Simpson, Poole, Livers, Teske, Matthews. They’ve all played for a national championship. No one on Duke’s current roster has played in a game as big as Beilein’s boys have played in.
I don’t want to play Duke. Under any circumstance. But if we have to, Beilein will have this team ready.
January 12th, 2019 at 11:34 PM ^
I like our chances against Duke in the Final Four. Michigan plays much more disciplined on both ends of the floor. Teske is the kind of defender that could give Zion fits. I also expect Poole to be shooting at an elite level in the NCAA Tourney.
January 13th, 2019 at 12:33 AM ^
Could you explain how Teske would give Zion fits? Just curious.
January 12th, 2019 at 5:49 PM ^
Damn. Was really hoping for Dookie to lose. On the bright side, Ohio State lost today (third loss in a row).
Let's beat em in hockey tonight again and make their weekend WINLESS. Sound good?
January 12th, 2019 at 6:05 PM ^
Winless to go along with classless .
January 12th, 2019 at 6:32 PM ^
January 12th, 2019 at 7:37 PM ^
Wow, it is always a great day when Ohio State loses, whatever Duke may do. Excellent.
January 12th, 2019 at 10:46 PM ^
It would have been better if both had lost.
January 12th, 2019 at 6:44 PM ^
January 12th, 2019 at 7:10 PM ^
When you're playing the best college basketball team money can buy, you have to play lock-down defense start to finish.
January 12th, 2019 at 7:14 PM ^
Just keep winning...its all we can do. Number 2 is a good place to be. Just want a 1-seed in the big dance!
January 12th, 2019 at 7:41 PM ^
Exactly right. Don't waste time worrying about things that are out of Michigan's control. Just keep winning and everything else will fall into place.
January 12th, 2019 at 8:19 PM ^
The only good thing about listening to dick vitale is that he refers to tv teddy as .... "tv teddy"
January 12th, 2019 at 8:24 PM ^
Still leaves me more confident in our chances this year to win it all. There's no '17-'18 Villanova out there. Duke is far from unbeatable. Kansas is far from unbeatable. Virginia seems similar to us but we're better offensively. Izzo Beilein's bitch. Tennessee I actually know nothing about, but Woodson won the Heisman. I'd bet on us if I had any money.
January 12th, 2019 at 8:36 PM ^
January 12th, 2019 at 9:21 PM ^
Who the fuck... cares?
January 12th, 2019 at 9:46 PM ^
FSU had their chances. They lost when they couldn’t close the door on Duke’s shooters in the last 2 minutes. ESPN coverage is best watched with the mute on. Time for dick vitale to do a quick victory lap and retire.
January 13th, 2019 at 12:15 AM ^
That was clearly off FSU. Get the call correct and that’s what they did. Regardless if it was Duke or not. The call was correct.
January 13th, 2019 at 11:42 AM ^
The one thing that I am not sure if it’s within the rules, but definitely in favor of duke, was the clock was not stopped after the 3 was made. About 1 sec shaved off
