OT: Significant other Christmas gift thread
As a serial procrastinator (I'm sure some of you are as well) I still have a few gifts to get for my wife. After 30 years of marriage it's getting pretty hard to come up with good ideas and avoid buying her the same shit I've bought before.
What are some things you've bought for your significant other? Might serve as an idea for another poor slob like me who is still looking to do some last minute shopping.
BTW I drove by a Costco and there was a line around the building. Lord have mercy...

Season football tickets make a great gift. That's if you care.

Canvas prints of our engagement photos in a2. One in the Arbor Brewing Company tap room and one in graffiti alley. They take a week to make though. Good luck.
December 22nd, 2018 at 2:11 PM ^
My engagement party was at ABC and I also had some engagement photos taken in that alley. Are you my wife?
December 22nd, 2018 at 1:03 PM ^
I always buy what she tells me to buy, plus an occasional added surprise that she might need (like the year I bought her a Garmin)
28 years of marriage and still surviving
December 22nd, 2018 at 2:20 PM ^
That was my strategy this year. Bought her a new Kindle Fire because she said so. Also got her a new driver, because hers sucks.
December 22nd, 2018 at 2:22 PM ^
Wish I could afford a driver for my wife! LOL!
December 22nd, 2018 at 3:20 PM ^
Driver as in a golf club or someone who drives her around?
December 22nd, 2018 at 7:07 PM ^
Golf. She's a good driver.
December 22nd, 2018 at 7:27 PM ^
Good driver for a woman anyways. Heyoooo
December 22nd, 2018 at 2:30 PM ^
"and still surviving." When I heard statements like that after 5 or 6 years of marriage, I didn't understand the "surviving" statements. After 11 years of marriage, and the day alone with my kids, I get it man. I get it.
December 22nd, 2018 at 2:45 PM ^
You're still a newly wed!
December 22nd, 2018 at 7:09 PM ^
Right? 25 years here.
December 22nd, 2018 at 1:04 PM ^
I have an added crappy bonus, my wife's birthday is 6 weeks before Christmas. So all my good ideas get used up there.
I got her a Birchbox subscription this year. It's a monthly makeup service. It's a new idea I liked
December 22nd, 2018 at 1:33 PM ^
Lol, my wife’s birthday was yesterday so I have to try and make that special and come up with Christmas gifts.
I always tell her to make me a list. And I try to keep notes on my phone of things she mentions. Plus I ask her to make an amazon wish list.
December 22nd, 2018 at 1:44 PM ^
My wife's birthday is tomorrow and I've got nothing planned. She says she doesn't want anything and I think I can grant her that wish.
December 22nd, 2018 at 2:23 PM ^
Oh, Victor you didn't take that literally did you?
December 22nd, 2018 at 3:01 PM ^
I asked her again and she said a baby or a puppy. Yeah I'm rolling with nothing.

I got you all beat so far. My wife's b-day is x-mas eve. It's brutal. But I did take her away the past couple days to a nice hotel inside Universal Studios for some play and get away from the kids.
Now I just brought home a couple pizzas and she's bitching that I didn't get the right toppings. So, coal is what she may be getting. And since I have a Big Green Egg, I have plenty of coal in my garage.

My wife gets anniversary, the next week is her birthday then the next week is Christmas. I'm sure she loved the birthday and christmas 6 days apart when she was a kid.
After 16 years of disappointing her in that 3 week time span we've finally come to the point where she just buys whatever she wants and I throw some random things in there to show I still care. Nice part is she's extremely easy to please and quite low maintenance. If I ever "wasted money" (her words) on jewelry or flowers for her she'd kill me. So that's nice.
December 22nd, 2018 at 5:22 PM ^
Wife’s birthday is the 19th. Anniversary is the 26th. Also if she needs anything, she usually just buys it. I usually come up with something good for the birthday then just have to gift card it. Doesn’t go well
December 22nd, 2018 at 1:07 PM ^
Nothing that could even hint at coitus or suggest that you were thinking about coitus when you bought it. She will know. She always knows.

Dude, NEVER mention your ex's name around the wife

Something shiny with the kids' birthstones on it (if you havent gone down that road already)
A package to a day spa (if shes into that stuff)
Something you can do together (if theres something she wants to do together she talks to you about like a cooking class, ballroom dance lessons, rock climbing, chainsaw art)
Somethig she can do alone (if shes had a dream or an itch shes never scratched i.e. piano lessons, auto racing school, creative writing)
NEVER EVERY BUY A WOMAN SOMETHING ATTACHED TO A CORD. My Dad got my Mom a vacuum one year for her Birthday. Goddamn was that funny
December 22nd, 2018 at 1:29 PM ^
So you're saying this is out?!
December 22nd, 2018 at 1:34 PM ^
That was for her birthday.
December 22nd, 2018 at 2:23 PM ^
Actually, I usually do a naughty stocking that does not go under the tree and it goes over very well. So, no, definitely not out.
December 22nd, 2018 at 2:31 PM ^
You wanna get the one where the cord detaches....MUCH easier.
December 23rd, 2018 at 3:32 PM ^
But the battery expense will kill you.
December 22nd, 2018 at 3:26 PM ^
Is that one of those new iMicrophones?
I am SO rocking one of those for karaoke night!
December 22nd, 2018 at 3:34 PM ^
they have battery powered ones now
December 22nd, 2018 at 1:33 PM ^
Well I should be safe with a cordless Dyson stick vacuum then.
December 22nd, 2018 at 2:26 PM ^
I could buy my wife a new vacuum for Christmas, another for her birthday in March, and do it again next year and she would be ecstatic! She has a fetish for vacuums, but high taste - Dyson or bust. Can only purchase so many of those bastards...

Blender. A $300 one. Apparently they exist
December 22nd, 2018 at 2:27 PM ^
Yep. They're called Kitchen Aide stand mixers. And they're sweet...
December 22nd, 2018 at 3:36 PM ^
Yes, stand mixers make things MUCH easier
December 23rd, 2018 at 3:35 PM ^
$300 is pretty cheap. Ours was almost double that.
December 22nd, 2018 at 9:16 PM ^
I sort of get the stand mixer cost, but this is a blender. Vitamix. We'll see how it goes!
December 22nd, 2018 at 1:10 PM ^
Stuff that is awkwardly thoughtful or in observance of our kids. Generally I google "thoughtful gifts for wife", and run with it even if I think they are stupid.
December 22nd, 2018 at 1:11 PM ^
Sandwich maker
December 22nd, 2018 at 2:18 PM ^
Now is that the wife, or a present for the wife?
December 22nd, 2018 at 1:11 PM ^
weekend getaway with a spa anything( mani-pedi-massage) always win in my house. This year it was snow shoes and a membership to a local gun club.
December 22nd, 2018 at 1:12 PM ^
Dance classes together
evening cooking class together
Weekend trip somewhere she’s wanted to go
Frame a picture she loves
Tickets to a play or orchestra or musical (if she’s into that) or a concert - VIP meet and greet if your budget and her interests allow
Book about or by someone or something that is a passion
and of course a customized Michigan Jersey (tip: don’t use the name “Toots” as the name in the back and avoid the number “69”)
December 22nd, 2018 at 1:17 PM ^
Wife and I are in the midst of house projects and family planning so there isn't a ton of extra loot lying around this year. We are each doing a small gift ($25 or so) and an experience, probably a nice dinner somewhere. Nothing fancy and that's fine with me.
December 22nd, 2018 at 1:18 PM ^
If she enjoys cooking or baking, Kitchen aid and/or attachments. Win-win.
December 22nd, 2018 at 1:27 PM ^
My wife and I really tend to focus on the kids when it comes to Christmas, so we don't get a lot for ourselves, but given my wife's obsession with all things Marvel and several anime franchises, I can basically do the entire run at Hot Topic.
December 22nd, 2018 at 1:27 PM ^
MrsKoolAid is getting a new handbag*
*apparently they aren't called purses anymore
December 22nd, 2018 at 1:31 PM ^
zach smith has some great ideas that you can buy from Amazon.
December 22nd, 2018 at 1:39 PM ^
Pretty sure he purchased all of their inventory.
