Wow very bold move especially since they are Super Bowl contenders!

This thread should go splendidly....(eye roll emoji).

You act as if they had a choice. In the midst of the #metoo era, this was the only move the Chiefs could make without inciting a massive PR disaster.
Not excusing Kareem Hunt for his actions, but the minute he touched that woman, his career was over. At least with the Chiefs it was.
November 30th, 2018 at 11:54 PM ^
He would have gotten away with it even five years ago.
Somebody needs to get in the ear of these living-life-in-a-bubble athletes and let them know that shit has changed.
They are on a high wire with no net now. One slip up and they are toast.
Hunt is done for life. What else is he going to do that can touch the livelihood he was making as an NFL athlete?
Incredibly stupid.

Most of these guys have lived in less of a bubble than the average UM student. Most of these guys grow up around poverty and violence and often grow up seeing domestic violence regularly, even in their own home. This in no way excuses Hunt's behavior, but to act as if it is solely the result of one individual's moral failing is willfully ignorant.

Tyreek Hill’s actions were much worse against his former girlfriend and he’s still on the team. His transgression was just not caught on video.

The title IS the post! The post IS the title! Mind........blown.......
EDIT: Well, since I had no idea about him pummeling a woman in a hotel, I now realize this post needed much more content to be complete and informative...

So what are the appropriate repercussions for what he did?
December 1st, 2018 at 8:40 AM ^
So Ray Rice collects his 3M dollar rookie contract, signs a 35M contract (had collected 25M when he knocked out his fiance) and is still doing alright.
Hunt's many life lessons (must get a life coach like Meyer) are to stop hitting women, forget the entourage and live in a bubble on your rookie contract. You don't act a fool UNTIL you get paid...finance 101.
December 1st, 2018 at 11:24 AM ^
Have to say...I'm of a similar mind, GMHW. An unfortunate side effect of #metoo is an epidemic of moral preening. The idea that blathering on about how reprehensible something (racism, violence against women, next year's hashtag) is somehow elevates you is a true conceit. You have to walk the walk. The issues we're talking about are as old as history. It will take a life long commitment to effect real change. Probably multiple lifetimes. Flapping your mouth doesn't get it. Get to work.
November 30th, 2018 at 9:22 PM ^
Should probably mention that a video surfaced of him attacking a woman in a hotel.
November 30th, 2018 at 9:23 PM ^
That minor detail might deserve some attention.
November 30th, 2018 at 9:25 PM ^
It's fine.
November 30th, 2018 at 9:22 PM ^
Shocked they made the move, regardless of it being the right thing to do.
November 30th, 2018 at 10:08 PM ^
Had to, NFL is going to act. See Ray Rice for comparable situation.
November 30th, 2018 at 9:22 PM ^
Deservedly so. People like this don’t deserve to play in the league.

Joe Mixon still has a job and was drafted fairly high if I remember correctly
November 30th, 2018 at 9:45 PM ^
Yeah and that video was WAY worse! I almost forgot! Damn NFL !
November 30th, 2018 at 10:10 PM ^
Mixon was BAAADD, but I don't think it was "way worse" than this one. He came out and kicked her while she was already down from being shoved hard into the wall.
November 30th, 2018 at 9:53 PM ^
Yes that makes it okay.
November 30th, 2018 at 10:40 PM ^
If I remember right, the lady Mixon leveled dropped a n bomb on him. Apparently, that came out with this one too. Doesn't excuse it obviously, but man... I think Hunt's is way worse. He attacked them several times, both. I don't see how he plays another down
December 1st, 2018 at 6:20 AM ^
I see it differently. Mixon leveled that girl with a punch straight to the face. I’m surprised he didn’t knock her out. Both Hunt and the girl are clearly drunk and Hunt shoves the girl (admittedly pretty hard) and kicks her when she’s down. Although they are both to blame and they deserve whatever is coming to them, Mixon to me is worse.
November 30th, 2018 at 9:33 PM ^
The Chiefs/NFL are phony, they knew about this incident in August. Now want to act high and mighty once the video is released.
November 30th, 2018 at 10:26 PM ^
Theyre claiming Hunt lied about the incident
November 30th, 2018 at 11:05 PM ^
Then why does Joe Mixon have a job? There is live video of him cold cocking a woman and knocking her unconscious.
November 30th, 2018 at 11:13 PM ^
As a bengals fan it seems as though he has turned his life around. Plus that was 4 years ago.
November 30th, 2018 at 11:35 PM ^
The point is the NFL/Franchises pick and choose what they deem acceptable when they please. There is video of Carlos Hyde hitting a woman, yet he hasn’t had a hard time finding a job.
November 30th, 2018 at 11:41 PM ^
Well of course, if they avoid public outroar nfl teams will keep just about anybody.
December 1st, 2018 at 2:45 AM ^
This is false.
It's a horrifc thing to publicly accuse a man of beating a woman. No video exists of Hyde hitting a woman, because it never happened. You can watch the video for yourself on Youtube, or you can believe any of the bazillion articles from reputable news outlets that confirmed that once the video was analyzed, it was clear he did not make contact with her.
"Hating" a sports rival is one thing. Seriously slandering someone is something else.

Joe Mixon?
November 30th, 2018 at 9:25 PM ^
Bold move, no! CYA in the # Me Too era, 1000%!! Chiefs (and league office) reportedly knew about this and sat on it. Look how Chiefs owner Clark Hunt addressed it during training camp. Brady got 4 games and Pats lost a first and fourth for some stupid BS in a game they would've won playing with a beach ball. If the Chiefs knew about this, the penalty better be severe. Immediate and harsh suspensions and fines for knowing and possibly covering up.
In a related matter, the Chiefs hired Hillary Rotten's former Head of IT. How do you use Bleach Bit?
November 30th, 2018 at 9:26 PM ^
Number of seconds until Daniel Snyder picks him up for the Redskins: 7....6...5....4....
November 30th, 2018 at 9:32 PM ^
I find it impossible that the NFL nor the Chiefs either knew about this or saw the video months ago. The only reason he was placed on the Commissioner Exempt List and then released within minutes of each other is because TMZ made the video public, not because it happened in the first place.
Once again, the NFL proves that it will only do the 'right thing' if there will be public outcry.

Statement by the Chiefs
November 30th, 2018 at 9:44 PM ^
Thanks for posting that but even further then, there is no way that they heard about it yet didn't obtain and watch the tape for any other reason then that they didn't want to.
