Diag Vandalized by sparty
SIAP. Just read that the block M on the Diag was tagged to read Msu on Sunday. Does anyone know why students are no longer protecting the Diag 24/7 in the week leading up to the sparty game? I was already disappointed with our students for their continuing late arrival at games regardless of kickoff time, and now this........

I thought I saw it Saturday night on twitter so someone may have done it during the game. Not sure if the students are there now.

It was already done by Sunday morning when I walked through the diag

So maybe our students are still protecting the Diag 24/7 the week before the sparty game? And therefore sparty made their cowardly attack prior to the beginning of sparty game week?
October 18th, 2018 at 1:43 PM ^
I think we only protect the diag during years where the game is at home.
As far as it being cowardly, ehh whatever. Its a rivalry. We vandalized the Sparty statue I believe after we beat MSU in EL (basketball) last year, so to me, its all harmless fun. As long as no one is getting hurt, it really shouldn't bother you.

Harmless graffiti on a rival's idol is fair play. They just need to understand that parked cars aren't part of the deal.

It was reported police/dps at 3 AM Sunday, so yeah was done Saturday night. The frat guys started camping out on the diag to protect it Sunday.

I'll be out there with a bat next year in the time they aren't guarding it.
October 18th, 2018 at 12:56 PM ^
The interesting thing is I think you might be serious.
October 18th, 2018 at 3:16 PM ^
And I don't think he even lives in Ann Arbor.
October 18th, 2018 at 12:56 PM ^
You should probably just pitch a tent there so you can protect it at all times.
October 18th, 2018 at 1:32 PM ^
Oh, if WD is anywhere on campus, you can be sure he is pitching a tent.

This comment is under-rated.

Yeah, the Faux One nailed that. +1 for you both.

67 upvotes (and counting) later, and it is still under-rated

excellent work Faux!

I started pitching a tent the moment I saw that Rashan Gary might be playing this Saturday!

I would be happy to join you Wolverine Devotee.
October 18th, 2018 at 1:01 PM ^
You'd still get beat up with a bat you aren't fooling anyone.

How dare they put disrespek on the property of a school I didn't attend!
October 18th, 2018 at 1:07 PM ^
the debate of fan vs. alumnus takes an interesting turn! School property!
October 18th, 2018 at 3:00 PM ^
No you won't.

Turning violent, WD?
You need to go see your SuperGuidance™ counselor.

Use a morning star instead.
October 19th, 2018 at 10:43 AM ^
Good idea. Bats have that sonar so they can hear sparty coming!
October 18th, 2018 at 3:37 PM ^
Or there is this new technology called "video cameras. You could point these "video cameras" in the direction of the Diag and it will "record' what takes place. That might catch said perps.
October 19th, 2018 at 12:20 AM ^
There is this new thing called a "ski mask." Flummoxes the "video cameras".

The article I read said that the frat was guarding the diag, but that this happened before they showed up.
October 18th, 2018 at 4:47 PM ^
Frats are getting soft
October 18th, 2018 at 10:45 PM ^
I say this as a former UM frat member - if you really need something guarded, you may not want to have frat guys do it - the odds of everyone passing out on the drag or whatever are pretty high . . .
October 18th, 2018 at 12:48 PM ^
The frat that guards it starts sunday evening for the week and it was tagged prior to that.
October 18th, 2018 at 12:52 PM ^
Good to hear. I have confidence in our frat protectors to take appropriate remedial measures next year.
October 18th, 2018 at 12:50 PM ^
This seems like a sign of disrespect for the Diag M. The football gods will be angry, resulting in a blowout of Sparty. We can all now rest easy.
October 18th, 2018 at 2:10 PM ^
Well we did put that stake in the ground in Sparty Stadium. Maybe Brady will apologize for the MSU frat too.

Have you been out of town for the last week? Under a rock? In a coma?
October 18th, 2018 at 12:51 PM ^
Huh. They spelled it right.
Are we sure it was them?
October 18th, 2018 at 12:54 PM ^
Shout out to 707oxford. Excellent Post!

False Flag!
October 18th, 2018 at 5:38 PM ^
Well, we spotted them the “M.” They were already 1/3rd of the way there.
October 19th, 2018 at 1:16 AM ^
And they still spelled it "MUS" until the homeless guy told them how to fix it.
October 18th, 2018 at 12:51 PM ^
Theta Xi was the "frat" that camped out on the diag when I was in college. I half-heartedly rushed my freshman year and slept overnight on the diag.
Theta Xi seems to have turned more mainstream since then, and is the one that got in trouble for planning the infamous "hood ratchet"-themed party.

I would say they are going to fail their first blue book... but I don't think people at state use blue books, or take tests.... or pass classes in general
October 18th, 2018 at 12:58 PM ^
TBH I thought that blog was reposting an old picture of it vandalized. That is the only picture on the internet too. Can anyone confirm that actually happened this past weekend? In the past there were other images, from other angles, and pictures of the cleanup...
October 18th, 2018 at 1:00 PM ^
Yeah, my kid didn't mention anything about this happening and she jumps over it every day.
Maybe she was concerned about my blood pressure and just didn't mention it.
October 18th, 2018 at 1:07 PM ^
I went to the Wisconsin game last weekend and jumped over the M. My late 40s college buddies made fun of me because I wasn't going to fail any exams or whatever the urban legend is.
October 18th, 2018 at 1:08 PM ^
went with my son recently, had to divert him away in a panic, he was confused ... no bad ju ju
October 18th, 2018 at 2:23 PM ^
Why would you jump over it, rather than just walking around it?
October 18th, 2018 at 2:55 PM ^
I was content to walk around it.
October 18th, 2018 at 3:34 PM ^
For luck. Walking around is neutral. Stepping on is bad. Jumping over is good.
October 18th, 2018 at 9:47 PM ^
I step on the corner of it every time I walk through the diag. Just enough to make contact. Once you’ve already taken your first exam and are an alum, grad student, and staff member you have gone beyond the ju ju. You’ve already beaten it. Now I use it for luck.
