HAIL TO THE VICTORS 2018
HAIL TO THE VICTORS is 128 pages of Michigan football content, jam-packed with information, erudition, salt, photographs, small circular avatars indicating how you should feel about upcoming opponents, rosters that guess wildly at appropriate weights, history, more photographs, diagrams, side boxes, and a ham sandwich*.
*[ham sandwich not included unless you put a ham sandwich in yours]
THE TEAM THE TEAM THE TEAM
Brian Cook of this here site previews every position group, provides an overall outlook, and does not assert that Shea Patterson had lost his job to a JUCO transfer at Ole Miss.
THE ENEMY THE ENEMY THE ENEMY
A comprehensive survey of the toughest schedule in college football by Ace Anbender, with contributions from Seth Fisher (MSU, Maryland, Wisconsin), Bryan MacKenzie (Notre Dame), Ben Jones, sports editor of StateCollege.com (Penn State), and Kyle Jones, X's & O's writer for Eleven Warriors (Ohio State).
TWISTED BLUE STEEL
Named for Bo's own description of the stuff he's made from, this is the section where we examine Michigan's material.
THE TOUGH DECISION. Adam Schnepp shares the story of Karan Higdon through interviews with the senior running back and the people who know him.
GETTING IT. Orion Sang interviews walk-on receiver Nate Schoenle on his path to playing time amidst two star-studded classes.
THE FAULT IN OUR STARS. Ancient bloggerati Michael Elkon of Braves & Birds and SBNation examines the link between recruiting success and competing for championships, and finds examples of other programs who've had to survive a blip or two.
TECHNICAL DOSSIER
Football stuff, explained.
AUDITION BY IMPROV. Ian Boyd of InsideTexas.com and SBNation compares the attributes of Shea Patterson and Brandon Peters against the kinds of schemes Harbaugh and Hamilton want to run and the talent available to them.
RUN-PASS OPTIONS. Seth Fisher introduces the history and use of packaged run-pass plays, and how Michigan's offense could adapt them this year.
TALES OF OLD BLUE
Michigan's history, explored annually.
RECRUITING JIM HARBAUGH. Only John U. Bacon could tell the story of the biggest recruiting job in Wolverines history, and also one of the easiest.
THE SECOND WAR. The brief but explosive resumption of hostilities between Michigan and Notre Dame against the backdrop of World War II, as told through newsclippings, photos, and interviews only historical author and Toronto Sun NFL writer John Kryk could assemble.
LIFTING THE BANNER. Michigan historian Dr. Sap tracked down every iteration of the M Club's GO BLUE! banner, from Marge Renfrew's hastily sewn flag, to the infamous Syracuse thieves and a faded swimming pool adornment that's "too orange" no longer.
THE DAWN OF SCIENTIFIC FOOTBALL. As amateur naturalists give way to lab coats, the new premier institution of American scientific research cries out for a professional football coach. What they get is anything but. By Craig Ross.
THE SHIRT
In commemoration of Coach Washington's metaphorical assessment, the 2018 shirt is piranha-themed.
animal fact: piranhas attack in 4-2-5 formation
Shirt purchasers will also have a selection of popular shirts from the store to pick from if the Kickstarter-exclusive shirt does not appeal.
NOTES AND ERRATA
Surveys don't go out until right before we ship because people move.
Signed copies do come later than unsigned ones because we ship unsigned ones direct from the printer. If you'd rather have an unsigned one for that reason or because the idea of getting something signed by a blogger is appalling, you'll have that option.
HOW DO I AVAIL MYSELF OF THIS INCREDIBLE BOUNTY
Click this link. Or this link. Or this link. Or this link. Not this one though. This one works!
You can tell here that I did not actually attend Michigan, as sadly, I do not read latin. Could not read the previews below headlines. I do suspect they all mean the same thing though.
Heh, yes. Was joking. :)
THE DUO and THE SIGNATURE both say $30 or more. I'm guessing THE SIGNATURE should be $40 or more?
THE SIGNATURE is just one book.
Already backed. Can't wait!
Haven't reached the goal yet (3:23pm)... I'm ashamed of you MGoBlog
No digital version this year?
Can't promise it this year because Notre Dame was very serious about using some of their historical photos for anything but the print edition and we feature them in the '42-'43 article.
There WILL be a Kindle Edition though.
please do a digital one ... for some of us abroad it really is the only option
I look forward to this every year. Any chance we'll get a basketball+football one as well in the future? Coming off last year's success, there might be some content there.
$6 shipping to Svalbard and Jan Mayen Islands in the North Atlantic Ocean = BARGAIN! I'm sure the Svalbard and Jan Mayen UM Alum club members will be pleased by that rate. Hell, it probably costs $6 to ship a can of Campbell's Soup to those locations.
If we get two copies can we ship them to two separate locations this year?
Love the work you guys do for this. Its going to be a good year!
I checked my mailbox and mine has not arrived
Damn that Higdon run (Twisted Blue Steel). When he broke through, I thought he'd end up in Saline.
Book looks good, boys.
Go Hornets! :)
Go Hornets! :)
Will backers receive PDF versions prior to hard copy book arrival like last year?
Am I the only one who thought "Swim at your own risk" was going to be a reference to our new wide receivers' coach?
Didn't there used to be an option for just one unsigned book and the shirt?
$10k in what? 4 hours.
Money cannon.
1989 UM GRAD is happy to have you take my money.
Can you direct that the proceeds be dedicated to restoring the one line of code it would take to restore the mobile app?
I've been anxiously awaiting this event for far too long. The best part of off-season! Now I can relax and wait for my summer reading material. Thanks for taking my money! I love everything you guys do (except for that one horribad blog site).
I am excite!
