Luke McCaffrey to Nebraska
What he brings: McCaffrey is a more athletic version of his older brother, Dylan, a freshman quarterback at Michigan. Luke is a sneaky good athlete with good feet and good wheels and he possesses high upside as a passer. He is a late bloomer who has a smooth release and can be a dangerous runner and creator outside the pocket. He is one of those players you project to get better as he gets older.
He had offers from Michigan and Ohio State, and is obviously the younger brother of Dylan. Good get for Nebraska.
"Sneaky good athlete"...
Coach's kid. Lunch pail.
I guess "Even though he's white, he's still a true dual-threat QB" didn't make the edit...
I mean come on. His older brother damn near won a Heisman as a dynamic RB/returner. The name on his jersey alone makes it impossible for him to be a "sneaky good athlete".
Don't forget that his dad was a multi-year All Pro receiver in the NFL with 2 Super Bowl rings. And is mom was top flight college athlete and her father was a freackin' Olympic medalist once known as the fastest man in the world and once held the world record in the 100!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But yeah "sneaky good"
Is white = any athleticism is sneaky
Is black = dual threat
I bet he's also a real "student of the game", "another coach on the field" or "heady" qb.
He's white!
For some reason they also didn't feel the need to mention that he's "well-spoken'... weird.
That tends to be for athletes of a different pigmentation.
A real gym rat, with grit.
I bet he plays with a lot of grit.
Eat your grits instead of just playing with them!!!!
He is a 4 star, and the #262 prospect nationally. (LINK)
I guess scott's mom thinks he can hit pretty hard!!!
"Type of kid you'd want to ask your daughter to Prom"
He's gay?
Lol, easily best reply of the week!
Thank you sir, and seeing as though you are a judge, I'm going to take that as an official ruling.
"Sneaky good athlete" , "good wheels" and "high upside" are actually some of my favorite recruiting / draft terms. Strange how these two things have developed a similar language over time.
It would be interesting to have the two McCaffreys face off in a game one day actually. Brother versus brother at QB.
They aren't scheduled in 2019 or 2020, so unless Dylan is still around as a 5th year senior or we meet them in the B10 championship, it's unlikely. Although it would be cool to watch.
Only chance it happens is in 2021, in Lincoln, IF Dylan stays all five years at Michigan.
I hope he loses every game to Michigan.
It's interesting to me that all these guys are going to different schools - Duke, Michigan, Stanford, and Nebraska. These schools are all over the country and only Michigan/Nebraska are even in the same conference. It seems like they're actually looking for the best fit rather than being tied to their region, state, family influence, etc.
It's almost like they have parents who had extensive experience in college athletics and know what factors will make their sons happy and/or successful
His choice is a little different though:
Michigan, Stanford, Duke and Nebraska..... Which one of these is not like the other.
I know alot don't like Scott Frost here, but he is a good coach.
Hey, Nebraska is probably one of the better academic schools in the US east of the Rockies, west of the Mississippi, and north of Kansas.
I'll actually welcome Nebraska getting better recruits and working their way into a power again in the B1G West. Scott Frost is turning out to be a great villain, though unproven in the Power 5 level and we really need someone besides Wisky to challenge the B1G East.
great point. if that's whats going on it shows that the parents and kids really get it, and have the right approach.
however, one of these things is not like the others....academically. Three top 25 schools and a top ... 125.
ps I only posted this to see if my avatar carried over to the new site.
Titanic sinks....
"Jesus, Harbaugh isn't getting half the McCaffreys. WTF." --Bluey
Whoa, where did you come from? I thought you were in exile in Siberia someplace.
Did my crime. Did my time.
He's also a sneaky good student.
YMRMFSPA Wes Welker.
Looks like Luke's the one who will forever be razzed about academic rankings at Thanksgiving.
Dylan and Luke could end up playing each other (assuming both of them are starting) in 2021.
Have seen both Dylan and Luke play in person. Dylan is the much better QB and fits our offense much better then Luke ever would. I think Luke might be successful in a spread offense, but not sure he would ever be a starter at UM. Our depth chart is a lot deeper then Nebraska so I can see why he would choose them. Also don't think he wants to compete against his brother. Good luck to him.
Pretty on par with my thoughts. Would spend quite a bit of time behind his brother and possibly others before a possible shot. Also. Has the opportunity to show up in Nebraska and be a part of Scott Frost's turnaround. Solid decision IMO
Hopes he likes corn and playing for a coach who thinks he deserves a national championship.
I forget — is he class of 2019 or 2020?
2019
Michigan already has a commit from Cade McNamara. And it looks like he's going to be very good.
Well, the McCaffrey boys certainly didn't feel it necessary to go to the same school. Maybe all of them want to chart their own courses football-wise. Good luck to him.
At least he didn't go to OSU.
Looks like we'll see the brothers go head to head in 2020???
