Beilein Remains
Not going anywhere:
I love the University of Michigan and I am excited about coaching our Men’s Basketball Team next season and in the years to come ! Let’s go hang some more banners at “THE GREATEST UNIVERSITY IN THE WORLD “#GoBlue

Our long regional nightmare is over. LFFFFFGGGGG!!!!!!
UPDATE: The Athletic's Brendan Quinn reports Beilein and Michigan are on the verge of agreeing to terms on a contract extension:
A source tells The Athletic that Beilein and the school have nearly finalized a two-year extension on his previous three-year contract. Now a five-year contract, the new deal with coming with a rolling extension, which will keep the agreement at five years after each season. It is believed he will receive a raise from $3.37 million annually to just under $4 million per year.
He adds that Beilein did not receive an offer from the Pistons, who are still looking at former Raptors coach Dwane Casey and current Spurs assistant Ime Udoka. Multiple reporters, including ESPN's NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, are framing this as Beilein pulling out of the search, which is nice optics for the program.
Run around screaming! (but in a good way)
*EXHALES*
...a sigh of relief...
That is an understatement
YEAH!!!!
This is obviously just a ploy to increase his staff pay when he's coaching the Pistons.
/s
I don't think beilien works that way.... but gores did go to msu... he might have pulled a Steinbrenner ala drew Henson....
Don't know about Beilien, but pretty sure Beilein doesn't work that way.
I think you are 100% half right. Increase assistants’ pay and improve recruiting with NBA cred.
#MGoBlog3.0Effect!
BTW welcome back to the original account.
Thank you! It's good to be back.
Yes--welcome back, comrade.
Thank you! It's good to be back.
Did you sneak off to Switzerland for the birth of a kid by some Hollywood babe?
Pay the man)
...and pay his staff.
The stillness of your avatar saddens me.
...but don’t pay the players.
Thank god. Wow it looks weird around here.
I wonder if this is all a plan to make it look like everyone involved with the program is always looking to bigger and better things(geared toward recruiting). Similar to how everyone is encouraged to get an NBA Draft Advisory eval each year if they are even remotely NBA-caliber.
Also Kinda like Chase Winovich flirting with the NFL draft and coming back..... If Beilein is deemed "remotely NBA Caliber" in the eyes of recruits, then there's a bigger chance of NBA prospects coming here without Bagmen enticements.
Where have you been?
MGo3.0 bringing back all the old-timers...
Ace caved my account like 3 years ago. I think he was going through some medical stuff at the time and had a quick trigger finger.....
Not sure about the health stuff. That quick trigger finger hasn't resolved. Speaking from personal experience.
Yeah, I have no idea what what I said, but at the time it seemed quite petty and thin-skinned.
Keep digging
These are my first comments here in three years. If I were banned again, it would go back to normal for me.
Wasn't it the picture of you doing weed with a gas mask?
Beilein's offense would be incredibly effective in the NBA.
I think that would be true, but I just don't see him making that jump.
Yes, with any of the 29 teams that aren't the Detroit Pistons. That was the worst possible fit for him in every way save location.
I like the way you think. Beilein is so smart, I wouldn't put this past him. Either way, I'm really pumped to "get him back".
I'm also glad the site is back up. Looks like people are having issues with posting gifs/images. I'll have to give it a try later.
Thank you Coach Beilein!
"As a coach, you think you have them (Michigan) figured out...you don't have them figured out. He's just very unique in that. You can't allow them to do what they want to do. And if you do, now it's just hitting or missing, especially when they put skill [on the floor]. His ideal thing is having a five that can shoot." - Matt Painter, Purdue coach.
All the 5s that can shoot to you Coach Beilein! All the 5s!
Personally I'm OK with not having figured Coach Beilein out, and never figuring him out.
May no one ever figure him out.
I am just content that Michigan has him.
And that Michigan can keep him a little longer.
Yeah, somehow Andre Drummond doesn't strike me as a 5 that can shoot. Very thankful he is staying but the Pistons would have been an awful job for him.
I love seeing the code everywhere: "Not going anywhere:
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">I"
is that code?
I would've been legitimately kind of pissed at the Pistons if they'd hired Beilein. I mean, I'm a Pistons fan, but seriously don't go screwing up a good thing like that.
Ditto. This wouldn't have been a good move for the Pistons (why hire a 65-year old man with no experience in the league?) nor would it have been a good move for U of M.
Which is why I didn't worry about it -- two groups would have had to make a dumb decision. Not unprecedented, but unlikely.
Two groups? UM wasn’t looking to dump Beilein. Whether it was a “good move” for UM is irrelevant.
Not a big deal, but my virgin MGB3 post had to go somewhere!
He meant Beilein and the Pistons as the two groups. Not U-M.
If embeds break even for Seth, I know I don't have to feel bad about it in the early days here.
Oh, and the real issue: Awesome!
I said in the other thread we might be in the middle of a golden era of Michigan basketball. But we've got Mel (c'mon Jack Hughes!) and the most talented football team in over a decade. And, finally, a new website. Is 2018 the dawn of a golden age of Michigan sports?
I sure hope so.
If so, I'm blaming the site for not getting it done last year, therefore, moving up the era of Michigan dominance by a year.
excellent. now throw money at the assistants.
We can haz nice things?
