Over/under 2.5 series before the people that wanted him to start over Gardner realize he isn't an upgrade?
December 26th, 2013 at 11:45 AM ^
I'll happily take the under on this.
December 26th, 2013 at 11:51 AM ^
He may be an upgrade over an injured immobile Devin Gardner, though.
December 26th, 2013 at 11:54 AM ^
That's not my point.
The point the people that wanted to play Morris over Gardner this year are gonna see that he isn't an upgrade rather quickly I imagine.
December 26th, 2013 at 12:00 PM ^
let's root for him to suck so you can be right. Does it matter that people wanted him to sub in for Gardner? Only thing that matters now is hoping he does well enough to give us a chance in this game while gaining experiece that will be useful for his continued development next season, when he is Devin's backup.

Wait, wait, wait.
Where's the deer? I took me a second to realize who this was. Rid yourself of this imposter avatar - we need Bambi's dad back!

mGrowOld here. Your new avatar sucks Benoit's balls.

Note: I'm merely commenting on your miss of my word play. You are very much entitled to like Archer more than the deer head.
December 26th, 2013 at 12:08 PM ^
"Yeah let's root for him to suck so you can be right"
Straw man much?
I'd love to be wrong. Nothing would please me more than Morris showing up, earning the job over Gardner and then leading Michigan to 3 National Titles his sophomore, junior and senior years.
Back to what I'm trying to say here: If Morris was an upgrade over Gardner, they would have played him this year. Even though Borges was awful and the O-Line was not good, somehow the logical solution to everything was "put in Morris". Gardner was not the problem, and I believe the people that thought he was will learn that rather quickly against Kansas State Saturday.
If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. It wouldn't be the first time on here and I'd rather win than "be right". Always.
December 26th, 2013 at 12:49 PM ^
but a lot of people calling to "put in Shane" were just emotionally reacting to some frustrating games. I think most people are aware that a RS junior who is BFF's with Gallon is probably the best option in our Bowl game.
That being said, show us your stuff, Shane!!!
December 26th, 2013 at 12:53 PM ^
in light of Gardner's unreal performance against OSU is the fact that he was not good during the middle of the season. People were not clamoring for Shane while DG was balling out against OSU, Notre Dame, Minnesota, etc. They were calling for Shane when DG was crumbling mentally, physically, emotionally, etc. And it obviously wasn't even close to entirely Gardner's fault that he had his rough moments.
My point is this: if you're going to judge Shane's performance against what you think Gardner would have done in his place (even assuming at least same level of health as he was against OSU), then you have to take into account that Gardner's level of play was about as variable as Borges' quality of playcalling.
December 26th, 2013 at 3:16 PM ^
You're being intentionally obtuse; who on earth is advocating for Morris to perform poorly so they can say "I told ya so!"? Certainly not the poster you're accusing of that activity. Nice strawman.
December 26th, 2013 at 7:30 PM ^
There are plenty of people that seem both happy and excited to see Hoke lose so they can claim "We were right about RR".
December 27th, 2013 at 12:26 AM ^
Balls.
December 26th, 2013 at 12:01 PM ^
If things don't go well, I'll come back and laud your efforts to let us know how prescient you were.
December 26th, 2013 at 12:08 PM ^
the majority wanted him to red shirt. Very few people put the blame soley on DG or the OL for that matter. People who called for Shane to start are prospective amnesiacs.
If Shane plays well ... well that is a different question and a different context. I hope it gets to that because I want to win regardless of who takes the snaps.

The "Morris Truthers" were and are ridiculous. And no, I won't be "rooting for Morris to fail so I can prove I was right" like some commenters have suggested; that's not what I (or, I believe, any of the other posters who think it's asinine that people were agitating for Morris over Gardner) ever said, nor will ever do. It's just the people that were calling for DG's head are, in my mind, just delusional, and likely have some irrational attachment to an unknown quantity-- Shane Morris-- due to a heightened love of following recruiting, perhaps; I can't diagnose the cause, only the symptoms.
December 26th, 2013 at 11:44 AM ^
Let's do it Shane. Show why you were a 5* and send us into the offseason with a W...
December 26th, 2013 at 11:46 AM ^
According to Hoke, Gardner will not play in the game at all. There is concern about broken bones in Devin's foot.
December 26th, 2013 at 11:48 AM ^
I'd rather have him healthy for next season than risk further injury for a meaningless bowl game.
December 26th, 2013 at 11:53 AM ^
This is exactly it. While I hope the boys are focusing on this game and want to win, let's look forward to next season, which is more important. Devin does not need to play at all in this game.
December 26th, 2013 at 4:33 PM ^
I mean, how can I really argue with Spock, fergodsakes?
December 26th, 2013 at 12:05 PM ^
If he has broken bones in his foot, he would know.

My 12 year old ran and played football with a fractured ankle for two days before we took him back to get a second opinion, upon which the doctor found the fracture... tough kid.
December 26th, 2013 at 12:07 PM ^
for playing till the end of the Ohio State game. I'm sure he was in a lot of pain.
December 26th, 2013 at 12:20 PM ^
it shows that overtime was not a viable option and there was no way you could expect any type of run or rollout from Gardner at that point.
December 26th, 2013 at 11:47 AM ^
This is going to be ugly. There will be a few nice throws mixed in with mostly terrible decisions and an inability to run the ball. People will be left saying things like "well he showed some promise".
December 26th, 2013 at 12:03 PM ^
...that people will be left saying things like "Fire Borges."
December 26th, 2013 at 3:48 PM ^
December 26th, 2013 at 11:47 AM ^
Our game plan just became run, run, ugly medium passes, and fuck it go deep and hope. So not that different.
December 26th, 2013 at 11:52 AM ^
It's the whole "run, run" part that isn't going to be pretty.
December 26th, 2013 at 3:55 PM ^
the 55 yard pass from his knees.
December 26th, 2013 at 11:48 AM ^
What if Shane ends up having a monster game: 400+ yrds, 3-4 TD, 0 INT. Will there be a QB controversy for next year?
December 26th, 2013 at 11:48 AM ^
Should there be? no. Will there be? Yes. That is just how fans are.

Yes, because this is Michigan.
However, he will not have a monster game. I think we're sitting at 95% chance of a loss now.
December 26th, 2013 at 11:52 AM ^
Gardner put up 400 and 4 TDs against Ohio State. The problem all season has been the pitiful playcalling of Borges and the poor O-Line play, not Gardner.
If Morris has a monster day, great. Always nice to know you have a solid backup. But that's what he should remain until Gardner is gone. The backup.
December 26th, 2013 at 11:53 AM ^
Oh lord, if Morris has that stat line I will retract everything I've ever said negatively about Al Borges, Brady Hoke, football, physics, etc. I will also need to catch the monkeys flying out of my ass, but I'll do it.
December 26th, 2013 at 11:55 AM ^
What the heck is your problem with physics, man?
December 26th, 2013 at 12:22 PM ^
He's been angry since the day he learned that it's physically impossible for monkeys to fly out of asses.
