Amazon is always the best in my book, especially if you have Amazon Prime. There are some other really good places to get deals though, if you look around.

Amazon's CyberMonday site is pretty sweet, especially for electronics. I pretty much just checkin on the deals on it all day. There are/were some really cheap TVs if someone is looking to pickup a second TV for their bedroom or something.

In an hour or so we'll have the MGoStore cyber monday thing set up.

Fortunately for me, I have a hyper-organized wife who strategically filled my Amazon shopping cart yesterday, so that is essentially what my Cyber Monday experience is when it comes to gifts for other people. Now, I have the day to shop for myself - probably with like $10 given the size of my wife's cart.

If anyone needs new jeans, Levi's is having a sale today and you get another 40% off if you use the code CYBER40. I did a test order and it came out to about $26.50/pair.

Of the 3 main types of TV out there (LCD, LED, Plasma), is one type objectively better than the others? In my mind, it goes LED > Plasma > LCD, but I don't know very much about this stuff. If things like refresh rates and size are equal, will you notice much difference between the types?

From what I've read, plasmas are great for darker areas (e.g., a basement), but you'd probably want to go LED or LCD if it's in a room that gets a lot of light. I'm sure some people have strong feelings about it, but IME I think they all have pretty sweet pictures.

Plasma eat electricity and give off a ton of heat as well. The bonus is they give the best picture. I have a plasma and would definitely recommend one.

LCD: Good picture but with screen uniformity issues occasionally and lesser black levels. 120 Hz panels get rid of most motion blur to not be a problem anymore (240 is overkill and not worth it). For brighter rooms, or energy conscious people it's the way to go. Will run a little more expensive up front than comparable plasmas though.

With a few limitations, plasma is the way to go. If you are in a bright room, there are certain reflection concerns to address, but plasma blows everything else out of the water in terms of picture quality, motion blur, etc. except for the largely unaffordable OLED's.
Panasonic, should you go with plasma, probably makes the best sets, although they are leaving the business.

taxes. It would normally cost around $85 or so, so I jumped on that. I'll probably get something from the MGoStore and maybe a book or two from Amazon.

Also, check out woot.com, they're a daily deals site owned by amazon and occasionally have "woot-offs" or flash sales, including today.

I signed up for the American Express card that offers free amazon prime for a year and a $50 rebate if you spend $1,000 in the first three months. Then I used it to buy that $988 70" Vizio on Thursday(They finally had one in stock today...that is a long story, but alls well that ends well). Last night I got my electronics-crazed two year old one of the $35 newegg tablets. Today I bought the nieces and nephiews some video games on amazon at a decent savings.
