Graham Glasgow will wear his cat sweater over his jersey to confuse opposing tackles; gets all the women following the game
October 1st, 2013 at 12:48 PM ^
I think he is saving that for the Northwestern game, where he will spray paint 'WILD' on it and really throw them for a loop!
October 1st, 2013 at 3:41 PM ^
I guess you want to spray paint a smile on the Mona Lisa too?

Could you at least have put some basic summary that could serve as teaser material? This is no different than what Mr. Rager posted as derived from Hoke's press conference without any substantiated information. Maybe some specifics like: the team will run more iso plays, or that there have been moves at center?
October 1st, 2013 at 12:48 PM ^
Unfortunately, that's really all the post said. New personnel and "tweaks" to the blocking.
October 1st, 2013 at 3:53 PM ^
Do "tweaks" include actual blocking?
October 1st, 2013 at 12:51 PM ^
but that is actually all the info.

Adding Bryant at RG should be an improvement based on what other players have said about his talent but this business of changing the Center mid-season makes me nervous. Hopefully Glasgow and Devin have had sufficient time to develop a rythm together, or else we're just going to continue to find new ways to turn the ball over.

That's the new blocking scheme. The cutting edge LT, C, RG, RG, RT formation. It will make running to the right easier, but might make the pass protection a little iffy on the left.
Oh what am I saying, Lewan will have the left side locked down anyways. Actually, now that I think about it, two RGs isn't sounding too crazy.
EDIT: Appropriately enough, I messed up my offensive line abbreviations.

Glasgow, if the depth chart is to be believed, is the primary backup at Center. If Miller were to get dinged, Glasgow would slide over. So he should have been getting plenty of reps at Center, not starter reps, but enough that the coaches would feel comfortable with it in case of injury. I'm guessing some of these reps will also have been with Gardner, not just pure second team. We're also coming off a bye, so that definitely helps. My guess is that they've been toying with Glasgow being the starter at center since at least Akron and probably the competition never really stopped after camp. Hopefully, it'll be a fairly transparent transition.
October 1st, 2013 at 1:07 PM ^
If internet chatter is to be believed, they've been toying with the idea of Glasgow at center (and giving him plenty of reps with the 1s) all spring, summer, and leading into fall practice. The competition between him and Miller to start at center seemed to really come down to the wire.
In sum, I agree with you that I'm not too worried about Glasgow's ability to slide over. At least not any more worried than I am about the current line's performance.
October 2nd, 2013 at 12:10 PM ^
Actually, Joey Burzynski is the back-up center, and Glasgow isn't even on the depth chart as a center:
I believe that Glasgow is sliding to center, and, if you believe the depth chart, that would put Chris Bryant at LG.
The outlying possibilities, IMO (only changes to current line are noted):
- OC Burzynski
- OC Glasgow, LG Burzynski
- OC Glasgow; LG Schofield; RT Magnuson (highly doubtful)
- OC Glasgow; LG Bosch
October 2nd, 2013 at 3:45 PM ^
It's only listed that way because Glasgow is a starter at Guard. Glasgow has been the main competition for Miller since at lest fall camp.
October 1st, 2013 at 2:58 PM ^
Maybe the coaches wanted to have this new OL be the starting line from the beginning, but Bryant was hurt so they went with the backup plan. Maybe we're actually upgrading at Center in the minds of the coaches. Think about that.

Interesting to see who it will be, but with how inefficient the interior of the O-Line has been, can't say we didn't see this coming. I wonder if Hoke is just deciding to put some bigger bodies in there, like Bryant and Braden, and see if we can generate anymore push.
October 1st, 2013 at 4:27 PM ^
I don't think we'll ever see Big Ben playing OG. Hoke and Borges have said as much.

October 1st, 2013 at 12:46 PM ^
I think they were basically splitting reps because there was talk that he might even start at center.
October 1st, 2013 at 12:59 PM ^
They went with Miller because he was better at snapping the ball, while Glasgow was a better blocker.
October 1st, 2013 at 2:18 PM ^
I read Miller was only a bit better at snapping the ball. The thing that pushed Miller into the starting role was his ability to make line checks.
October 1st, 2013 at 2:23 PM ^
Pfft, checks. Who "checks" after looking at the defense? Not Michigan, I say! A true Michigan Man does what he does, regardless of what others may be doing! Checks, sheesh.
October 2nd, 2013 at 3:23 AM ^
This is a brilliant post. A deserved, subtle FU at the last couple offensive game"plans."
October 1st, 2013 at 4:56 PM ^
I think Bryant being dinged played a big role in Miller starting. I think Glasgow at C and Bryant at G is what the coaches wanted, but Bryant being dinged but a dent in those plans. In lieu of Bryant being hurt, I think the coaches felt that Glasgow at G and Miller at C was a better option than Glasgow at C and someone else at G.

Stanford is a better school than Michigan overall, and at this precise moment in time, has had more recent sustained success at football.
Historically, Michigan is definitely the bigger program. But I could see why a recruit would choose Stanford.

October 1st, 2013 at 12:26 PM ^
the OP hasn't stated the changes, but from other commenters, it seems that Glasgow to C, Kalis to LG and Bryant to RG. is that correct?
October 1st, 2013 at 12:49 PM ^
I thought it was just Glasgow to C and Bryant in at LG.
October 1st, 2013 at 12:31 PM ^
While we talk, here's ESPN's own Chantel Jennings with her guess - (full article)
In essence, the theory presented here is that Lewan and Schofield are safe where they are (I imagine we all though that), but that you may see Glasgow at center, Bryant at LG and Kalis at RG. She also mentions that Burzynski might see playing time as well.

We're running more than 50% shotgun/pistol. Bad snaps could easily cost us games.
October 1st, 2013 at 11:31 PM ^
So could twenty or so negative 2 yard runs a game.
October 2nd, 2013 at 2:56 AM ^
What could possibly "cost us" more than the horrific line play we've had in our last two games?
As long as the snaps from Glasgow are servicable, we need to try something.
October 1st, 2013 at 12:32 PM ^
Did they get "click-needy" here? I thought Hoke said we'd know more AFTER today's practice. Are they just guessing so it seems like they were first to report this if it does come true?
