META: Off topic season is OVA
Kids! Fall camp has started and that means we are in season mode on MGoBlog. Off topic threads are now verboten with limited exceptions.
Those exceptions are: Detroit pro sports threads in moderation. End of list.
As a reminder, the following things are on topic:
- Michigan sports
- Big Ten sports
- Michigan opponent items
- College football/basketball/hockey in general
- Things about the university or Ann Arbor
- META is not on topic, but it is not offtopic. It is META.
Putting an OT in front of these makes me a sad panda.
Happy posting.

One question: What does verboten mean?
August 5th, 2013 at 10:30 PM ^
Sprichst du kein Deutsch?

What is this, some kinda Al-Qaeda talk?

Well, I could be wrong, but I believe verboten is an old, old wooden ship that was used during the Civil War era.

I don't know what it means. I'll be honest, I don't think anyone knows what it means anymore. Scholars maintain that the translation was lost hundreds of years ago.

Don't worry, they'll still be here. They'll just be called "Friday night MACtion open thread" and there will be snarky commentary about bad football in addition to everyone's expensive craft beer pontification.

I hope you sort these issues out, Tripp. My advent calendar always had Tootsie Rolls.

There are some single-issue accounts that can be funny (THE_KNOWLEDGE, THE_IGNORANCE, I only post in GIFs, Craig James, etc). This is not one of them. By the way, why didn't you name yourself "The Ghost of No-OT"?
Over and out.
that he should have called himself 'Ghost of no-ot'
-or-
maybe it's not just a coincidence that "no-ot" suddenly registered and started posting the very same day that Brian issued his META Proclamation . Could "no-ot" be a minion of Brian, assigned here for no other reason than to seek out violators? Or could it---heaven forbid---be an alter-ego of Brian himself, mingling among us to sniff out infidels?

Wow, nice way to take me back to the '70s. Lemme guess—Rainsong didn't shave her pits or her legs, and she smelled bad.
Uncle Todd smelled worse.
Been there. Who hasn't, honestly?

hoping a random poster was posting this. I was ready for a rally.

"If something bad happens you drink in an attempt to forget; if something good happens you drink in order to celebrate; if nothing happens you drink to make something happen."
So by that logic, win or lose, there should always be a drinking thread.

Breaking bad is about to start =(
August 5th, 2013 at 11:42 PM ^
Beat me to it. Sunday is usually a dead day even during the season. Surely we can have one measly Breaking Bad thread on Sunday nights, right?
This blog even has a "John Beilein is pilot Walter White" tag!!!

META topics must wait when the Tigers are busy crushing the spirits of the Indians and their fans. This also explains the permitted OT list, although I feel like it should include a Columbus-area soccer game in a little more than a month, as well.

regarding teams representing the USA are fine as long as this doesn't turn into an Olympic trials/WC blog. Major is the key word, changes in lineup or one cut at a camp will be removed.

while (possibly) frustrating to look at, has literally nothing to do with the thread standing or not.

won't make it off topic any more than leaving the "OT" tag off will let a post about the dating app Tinder stay on the board. That should be obvious.

This is a fun discussion. Your username is creative but here's a tip: You worry about your content and the moderators will worry about what is acceptable and what is not. They get paid good money to do this so please let them do their jobs. If you do, you won't have to post anymore. See, I just saved you some time in the day! You're welcome.

USMNT is good, but in moderation.
like what you did with your seat cushion...

but how else will I tell people that I'm Tindering while watching Doctor Who and investigating if the coaches read MGoBlog for their notes?

While doing all that, it would probably be on-topic. Though very painful.

Yeah, I seem to remember general NFL Sunday threads and other major sporting events being ok in post years
August 5th, 2013 at 11:01 PM ^
If it has been okay it will be okay in most cases. Reasonable NFL game threads on Sunday are fine, but every game isn't threadworthy.

The October/November episodes didn't always get them, though once in a while they'd slip through.
