OTish: NCAA to announce Oregon findings tomorrow

I fully expect it to go like this..
I have complete confidence in the NCAA and its ability to effectively police collegiate amateur athletics.
I hope you are right.
amazed if a post-season ban comes from this..most likely just a slap on the wrist with 2 scholly reductions per year for 3 years
Double Secret Probation with a side of Nothing To See Here.
Double Secret Probation would be fitting, since Animal House was filmed on Oregon's campus.
Their findings will be: Those chaps in Oregon -- Eugene, is It? -- sure have shiny helmets!
/golfapplause. clapclapclapclap.
It would be great if the NCAA and the NFL came to an agreement on cooperating on punishments for coaches. That's a pipe dream and it will never happen but it would go a long way towards solving these Pete Carroll/Chip Kelly type situations.
i doubt it'll happen. the NFL only does things to benefit itself. i don't see how punishing the likes of Carroll and Kelly helps the NFL in any way shape or form.
The NFL did suspend Pryor for his role in the OSU scandal, though. I remember thinking it was really strange, and still don't really know why they did it. I tend to agree with you, though, that the NFL won't go out of their way to enforce NCAA rules.
I believe he was punished because he used the Supplemental draft even though he was still eligible to play his senior year. He faced a suspension but the NCAA did not remove his eligibility and he wasn't even kicked off the team.
No way the NCAA does anything of significance to Nike University...err...Oregon
On opposite day.
Dollars to donuts, Oregon ends up with a 2 scholarship reduction per year for 2 years and 2 years probation. ZZZZzzzzzzz. The NCAA has no teeth
when you don't fill out practice paperwork
For all of their work, Oregon paid a law firm close to $210,000 for its services throughout the investigation (OregonLive Story). Their 25-page invoice, linked in the article, lists every interaction this firm had with the NCAA and the university, parts of which are sadly blacked out.
I believe it was back in April that Oregon and the NCAA agreed that at least one violation was a major violation, but they disagreed on the severity of the one which involves the use of Willie Lyles oral reports, which Oregon considers a secondary violation even though it is in the NCAA bylaws that recruiting services must provide regular written updates.
In any case, I have a feeling that this was one of the many cases to appear on "Night Court" - $50 fine.
How about a five-year probation, during which they're permitted a maximum of two alternate uniforms per season?
would be no alternate uniforms allowed. Would their program cease to exist? Is it worse than the death penalty for Oregon? Yes and yes
They can still have alternate uniforms, but any alternate uniform must feature the logo or colors of Oregon State prominently
...it would hit the Oregon program in the only place that actually matters: Nike profits.
The NCAA's so mad at Kentucky, they're going to put Western Kentucky on probabtion.
Remind me again, what is to become of Miami, if anything? Just about when they were going to get the hammer, PSU broke out, which might have been the best thing that could have ever happened to Miami. Everyone, seemingly including the NCAA, forgot about them.
that will pay for Oregon's violations.
that sounds like logic. There is no place in this discussion for such foolish things.
thier wrists sting a little when they get slapped
sternly-worded letter stating how seriously miffed the NCAA is. Worse, it will be delivered by a rude UPS guy with an icy stare.
Psssh. Redundant. You could've just said "A UPS guy."
What if Roger Goodell was the president of the NCAA? Discuss.
Oregon gets off with one or two schollies reduced and "probation" that means nothing. Meanwhile, Phil Knight will be required to give everyone on the committee all of the Nike sports equipment they want.
The helmet will actually have a QR code which you will use to download an app that shows you what the real alternate uniforms look. It's uniformception
