Ohio people are strange
The article speaks for itself.
Has anyone located the turtle yet?
This just in: People in Ypsilanti, MI, six miles from the campus of the University of Michigan, are also strange.
This just in: There are also complete loonies in Ann Arbor. Anyone recall the crime alert on campus a couple years ago of the middle-aged Asian male pleasuring himself in the CCRB sauna?
That's strange??
The OP's generalization makes much more sense considering the subject was from Ohio, and was only visiting Ypsilanti.
Angel dusted schrooms? Still SICK.
have they ever been normal (with the exception of those smart enough to get out)
I like to think of myself as "locationally challenged".
Streets are uneven when you're down.
Terrible… Come on man. We all tend to assuage our simple minds by drawing generalizations from limited data to provide some order in an otherwise infinitely complex world, but this is ridiculous. You embarrass yourself and the sophistication of this blog to associate this poor soul with Ohioans in general. There are far more clever ways to dig at Ohio than this. Do better next time.
Thanks CLord. Good talk. I was just sharing a unique story that was forwarded to me, there was no childish bashing or "Ohio" jokes, but whatever. And this blog lost most of the sophistication that you're talking about long ago, not that it has any bearing on this topic.
No worries. I'd still rather drink a beer with you than any Buckey or Sparty fan or Tide fan.
And yes, I clicked the article. Just didn't read in case it's NSFW.
How about the "national hero" Charles Ramsey, who everyone celebrated for helping that girl escape from captivity? It was good that he helped someone in need, but anyone would have done that... But when I heard this guy's interview it made me sick.... instead of saying "man, this sucks nobody including me, picked up on this earlier, like why every window was taped closed along with the backyard blocked, and/or the suspiciousness about the perp".... instead he says something akin to "man... it takes some big balls to try to pull off what my neighbor did"...... it just wasnt appropriate how he responded, nor was the love flown in to this Ohio guy for doing a normal thing.
Are you three years old and have no experience in life? If so, that would explain your incredible naiveté.
In the real world, most people do nothing or even go along. That is how you get Holocausts, lynchings, genocides, etc. The Continential Army damn near starved at Valley Forge because the surrounding communities did nothing. Part of the slave system was to use the surrounding community as a web to ensare the slaves so they could not get away.
Then average person is indifferent to other humasn suffering. Going"Awww" when viewing a picture or expressing "OUTRAGE" in a comments section or in a letter to the editor is a hollow gesture meant only to assauge one's guilt over doing nothing. Most humans are like those New Yorkers who ignored Kitty Genovese's screams for help a she was raped and murdered in the stairwell of an apartment building. They either shut their windows or gawk.
Charles Ramsey maybe a bit of goofball, but his actions were still noble. Who cares what he said? It's what he DID that matters.
First off, he did what anyone would do when they hear a screaming 15 year old girl asking for help...... would you do nothing?????
And you say,"who cares what he said?" I do.... because he lived next door, and for what, 10 years, and no suspicion at all of anything? He had every window blacked out, had the backyard completely blocked..and we're talking about a small property. One can say he probably shouldv'e noticed something as odd.
hundreds of thousands of people close to towns. Yet, Germans and Poles both claimed to not have known what was going on. I could cite quite a few examples of people doing nothing while terrible things went on.
Your first paragraph is assumption based on assumption that people really care about their fellow humans. Some do, many do not. That is a fact.
As for your criticism of Ramsey, you were not there, you have no knowledge of the particulars of Ramseys' life or anything else pertaining to the events. So how can you judge him? All I know is that he acted. It is better to act late than to never act at all. But you don't see that. You are so busy trying to sound like Diogenes the Cynic that you forget that Ramsey was the person who finally acted to free those girls. To me, that is enough to warrant praise and to mute criticism for whatever he did not do.
Have you ever acted to save someone, Superman? I assume that you have since you talk with such extreme moral authority on the subject. You surely must be the reincarnated King Arthur coming back to save us all from ruin what with your overbearing self-righteousness dripping from every word your write.
That escalated quickly
With a trident.
Strange, I am the only normal person in this world!!!
Yup, because this only happens in Ohio. Nowhere else...
Except that it actually happened in Michigan. Then again...
Only Happens If Ohioan
Holy shiitake.
Oh, you stole that from one of the comments on the article. I saw it and was going to post, "hey did you see that clever comment," then I saw your post. So... hey, how 'bout them 'Hawks?
Is there another 'Hawks fan here? I love it! I hope you get the chance to attend the parade Friday, truly incredible experience.
You know the last guy they interviewed has done shrooms.
He caught himself admitting to it. After he said "especially on shrooms.."
I was waiting for something like "when i was on shrooms i just ate the arm of my couch and ran from my dog"
