This has got to be not good for UM to start playing at 1200 against a team from two time zones west. I try to watch cause my neighbor is hutch's first cousin, but i am fading fast.
They've been in Oklahoma for several days. I think they've adjusted to the 1 hour time change.
this game won't finish till probably 2 am at best. So what happens then? Probably get in bed by 3 and get up by 8 or 9 to get ready for the noon game? It's gonna be rough for the players
Even a walk-off right now (which isn't happening) means our game starts at 11 pm local at the earliest.
I admittedly know nothing about softball, but have tuned in to try to watch the game tonight. The one girl has thrown over 150 pitches. Is this a usual occurrence? I'm pretty sure I saw earlier that the same pitcher will pitch twice in the same day in tourneys like this. Is it just not hard on your arm? Is there some type of limit or pitch count where a pitcher would be unable to be as successful once throwing a certain amount of pitches? It seems like having one great pitcher that is unhittable could win a shitty team a whole lot of games if nobody else ever has to pitch...
motion is natural for the arm. The muscles do get stretched but not tore like baseball.
I have seen pitchers throw 150 pitches per game in back to back games. Its not uncommon in summer leagues and at the JC level where teams have only one pitcher.
Conditioning and stamina is way more important. Usually the smaller girls tire more quickly than the larger (Ricketts, Traina) types.
She says business as usual and will throw another game without a big effect. 200 back to back is a problem after the fact, probably needing two days of rest. At an NCAA D1 practice they max at around 200, although the bigger the girl, the more she can handle (as a general rule).
This is seriously the dumbest thing ever. What time is Michigan/ASU's game tomorrow? It better be the latest one possible.
The winner of the Michigan/Arizona State game plays at 3:30 pm EDT tomorrow. The Florida/Texas game is at noon CDT (1:00 EDT).
ASU just tweeted Michigan-asu must start before 12:59pm (11:59 local time) or it will be played tomorrow.
Yes, a possibility of 3 fucking games in one day for Michigan if they want to advance to the championship. Pretty much done if that is the case. No way any team has the endurance to win 3 games in one day, against the top 8 teams in the country.
Well technically they're would have to play 3 games in one day either way...
*They would
Let's beat ASU when we get the chance -- but getting to the mercy rule quickly certainly has an added bonus!
Where is this game being played? Just turned on the TV but Oberon is happening and figured you guys could answer this faster than my attention span...
Oklahoma.
in the first two games tomorrow and then let the rains come but no TORNADO.
Lol, why are they wearing mouthguards in a non-contact sport?
against a bad hop.
I've never been so angry at a great play by an amateur athlete in a game in which I had no rooting interest!
I LOVE the International Tie Breaker.
I would bet anyone that the NCAA adopts the International Tie breaker because of this game. Tornados, game cancellations, and now a marathon.
For us lay people could you give a synopsis of the International Tie Breaker?
and every inning thereafter, the batter who made the last out of the previous inning gets placed on 2nd base. The next batter is up just like normal but there is a runner on 2nd with no outs (obviously).
The runner on second has a 43% chance of scoring. Typically the coach will but the runner over to 3rd. Then the runner is now in scoring position and can score on a base hit or sac fly.
seriously wtf??
Hell of a crash at 3rd base.
That would be a sad way to end this exciting, if not frustrating, game.
That was the most wreckless slide I've ever seen. Can someone teach that girl to slide properly?
Ouch. But Florida's ahead, so I want Nebraska to lose now.
Fuck you Nebraska softball!
This game is totally going to the 16th.
My reverse jinx worked!
