OT- Tigers Open Thread
Fister's dealing. Filthy movement on every pitch. Strikes out the side in the 1st.
Edit: The game is nationally televised on ESPN.
5 Ks in two innings.
Five strikeouts for the Braves this evening, bringing their total for this series to 32 K's. All weekend, we have had some pretty solid pitching against the team with the best record in the NL to date. Then again, the Braves lead the NL in strikeouts too. It's like a whole team of Dave Kingmans and Reggie Jacksons from that standpoint.
Filthy, filthy, filthy! 5 Ks through 2.
Fister is trying to Larry Bird Sanchez's record.
In 1985 Kevin McHale set the Celtics single game scoring record only to see Larry Bird surpass it 9 nights later.
gets beat sooner than later.....
Can anyone find the record for K's in a 3 game series? My guess is in the high 40's. So far the tigers are at 35. Either way, 2003 Cubs are going dooowwwnnn
I thought it was just for opening day weekend series?
AJAX!!!
Fister"s getting BABIP'd.
fister can stop hitting batters anytime

Seriously is he living in Josh Bartelstein's world of 5 seconds ahead in the future?

Big Miggy with a bomb.
This could be a huge sweep of a very good Braves team. Good to see after hitting a bit of a rough patch last week.
And - gasp - it might even be time to consider Valverde for the old fantasy roster.

I picked him up early, assuming Leyland would want him as the closer right away. Good luck trying to get him now considering he's owned in 87% of leagues at the moment.

You're a bolder man than I, sir. He's only owned in 63% of yahoo leagues, I wonder what the reason is for that big of a discrepancy.

I'm on ESPN but his Add/Drop percentage is at +75.7% this week so he's at 87% total, if you're going to risk it (which really why wouldn't you? He's a relief pitcher so his ERA won't destroy you considering your Innings Pitched) you should probably do it sooner rather than later.

Valverde in a non-save situation. This should be fun.
[EDIT... or not.]

Complete with two bonus baserunners!

Valverde gets a ball hit hard, first batter faced from the strech this year. Kelly ran it down though for the out.

1 hard hit ball and 2 easy grounders, most importantly they were all outs. Nice job Papa.

Nice when the few and far between look like that. It had a little of everything:
- Dominant starting pitching from Fister.
- A game opponent (and my other favorite team) making a game of it early.
- Clutch AJax
- Clutch Miggy
- Even a little Papa Grande to top it off.
Can't wait to move back to Michigan in June and catch the rest of this season on the regular!
