OT: Lions sign internet sensation Kicker (cool Video)
Detroit signed kicker Havard Rugland, who has blown up on youtube. Hopefully this guy can really kick, I am not to big on Akers after last season.

Cool video, but i'm going out on a limb and saying this guy wont amount to much on the field.

Let's hope he can be as effective with 270 lb men bearing down on him with evil intent.

Well, a kicker doesn't have to worry about that nearly as much as a QB does. Those men only have evil intent on the ball, and if their intent extends to him, he's a hero and gets his team 15 yards.

Great story.

He has a future as a coffin corner punter if place kicker doesn't work out for him. Crazy video.

This guy should hook up with dude perfect! Together they could make sweet videos!

Are those official leather balls he's kicking or composite ones? The composite ones are much easier to kick.

Either way, he wasn't signed just based on the video, so hopefully he managed to prove he's the real deal when he worked out for the Lions.

It would be neat if this worked out. For starters, the notion of being able to get a field goal from the other side of Brush or St. Antoine (depending on the end zone) if required is a very sweet notion, I would think. Very cool video!

Juggling a soccer ball is hard enough. Awesome to see him do it with a football.

play quarterback and "kick-pass". Seems as accurate as a lot of qbs.

that tight little hooking spiral he punted was particularly amazing.
That was mildly entertaining. C'mon, Akers. Where's your vid?
I wonder if NFL kickers or punters can do some of the things he did on the video. Also, hopefully he can still kick accurated in high pressure situations.
I'm wondering how well he can do this with pads on under some lights with tons of crowd noise and pressure. Should be interesting. He can do some trick kicks rugby style ala Forcier.
anyone can create an awesome highlight video. Wonder how many misses he left out?
Seriously. I have no idea.
That being said, reading the clippings the past few weeks, I couldn't tell if Hanson retired or if he and the Lions failed to make it happen because of money/contract issues. Reports were conflicted.
However, based upon the sad history of the Lions, it wouldn't surprise me if they somehow botched signing Hanson and they, in turn, end up not making the playoffs this year due to kicker issues.
You read it here first, this is going to happen, and Lion's fans are going to wonder why on Earth they didn't give the third highest scoring player in NFL history a greater incentive to return.
You can make an NFL roster from a video off the internet? I think this proves how important kickers and punters are in the NFL.
I don't understand, how does he kick 50 & 60 yard field goals without really following through? He kicks everything like a chip shot, yet it still works from 60 yards out. I hope that's not tricky editing.
