9/12/09 Should Immediately Be Declared A National Holiday
Dear President Obama:
I hereby submit that this day, September 12, 2009, should now and forever be celebrated as a national holiday of this great country. In support of my proposal, I submit that on this day:
(a) Michigan won while all three of its rivals -- OSU, ND and MSU -- lost;
(b) Not only did Michigan's rivals all lose, but they fought valiantly and thought that they would prevail only to have their hopes crushed at the very last moment;
(c) By defeating ND, Michigan eliminated ND from any possible consideration for the BCS national championship game, eliminated its ostrich-faced leader from consideration for the Heisman and probably assured that its coach would be deemed a miserable failure and fired; and
(d) Two of the rivals lost on their home fields while the third did something even better -- it lost at the hands of Michigan in the Big House where we all could personally bathe in its misery and torment its fans.

All in for Front Butt never being fired? Please...

I am sorry. Please take whatever time you need to reconcile yourself to this. With a bit of luck, they will hire Matt Millen to replace him and the balance in the football world will be maintained.

WOOO WOOOO! Well stated point by point, sir! Indeed, it is a glorious day.
The last minute loss while expecting victory part was particularly insightful. I can't recall a day quite like this. Go Blue!
Footnote: do ya'll consider Minnesota a rival too, or not?
(I always thought of Minny as a rival b/c of the Little Brown Jug even though we dominate the series).

I barely consider MSU a rival. To be a rival, you have to be more than an annoyance. You have to actually win enough every hundred years that we run out of fingers keeping track and need to write it down somewhere.

If I came watching Tate on that last drive, does that count?
