FREE Pair of Tickets **AND Game Glove** to UofM vs OSU Game Next Sat
I would like to treat two Michigan fans to next week's OSU game in Columbus.
I have made these offers to folks during Michigan home games before, but this time I want to extend it to those living in or that can travel to my unfortunate home town of Columbus.
I have followed the advice of many of you and have given past tickets to Mott's patients and their families, and it has really made their day. In fact, I am continuing that opportunity for a family this Saturday vs. Iowa.
However, this time I really want open it up to people based on a different theme. I want to offer it up to a pair of Michigan super fans.
Instead of having people email me their stories, I think it would be fun to have people post why they are the most deserving super fan (photos and videos welcome). Of course, I would prefer it go to those that would otherwise not be able to attend, but that is not a restriction this time. Further, I'd prefer it not be a hard-luck story, as I intend to make those opportunities available to people in the future.
I have been informed by University staff that I need to avoid treating guests that are of recruitable ages. To make it easy for me, I will not consider any teenagers (but a parent and younger child is ok).
Myself or one of my guests will meet you on Sat before the game and personally hand you the tickets (you will be sitting together in the visitors section). We will reserve the right to withhold the tickets if we feel we have been misled in any way.
I will make the selection on Monday by 9pm. I will respond to this post identifying the screen name of the winner and ask that they email me so we can finalize the plans.
=====================
NEW ADDITION - Jibreel Black's Game Used Glove from the Northwestern Game last week.
=====================
The person selected will now also receive Jibreel Black's left handed game glove from last week's Northwestern game. I have seats above the tunnel and we caught the glove when it was thrown up to us after the game. It still smells a bit sweaty ... perfect for a super fan! PLEASE DO NOT SELL THIS GLOVE, as I will trust the person selected not to do so.
Go Blue!

Good luck in your search, there are already a couple cool stories down below.

My brother-in-law surprised me with tickets to the game last year - it was my first time seeing M vs. OSU. I would love to return him the favor this year!

maybe you could contact the ath. dept. and see if the parents of a senior player that doesnt have tickets could go? i'm not sure how that works tho.

At least at OSU, student-athletes get at least two tickets to every game of their sport. However, their guests cannot receive any assistance in getting to the games, e.g. if their parents can't afford air fare or gas, they're SoL.

Email: Go Blue Fan SCP at aol dot com. My screen name here is obvious. My significant other's father played for Nebraska and use to give me crap about not having any connection to U of M so I went and got a degree. Regularly take kids to fan day, football games, bball games, and hoping to get them to their first M baseball game this year.
My list of M related things goes the full spectrum- garden stone, flag, lawn chairs, autographs, helmets, jerseys, and fat heads. I live and die M sports and would love to take one of the boys to see M beat Ohio (I am a little scared of what he may be exposed to though). My son got Shane Morris' first autograph at the spring game two years ago.
Your generousity is the stuff a true Michigan man is made out of.

Been to every Mich-osu game since 1976, so 36 consecutive games!! This one will be 37 straight. Every year since I was 10. Both my parents went to UM, but when I was 3 we moved from Detroit to Cleveland, so I grew up in Buckeye land as a maize & blue addict. My first game was in 1975 at msu, where UM won 16-6 thanks to Gordie Bell. In 1976 at the horseshoe an Woody, I started by current 36 game streak, a 22-0 shutout, with the 2-pt conversion coming from roverback Jerry Zuver. A great game with Ricky Leach at QB and Rob Lytle at TB. I'd go on, but I'd be here all night. Go Blue!! Mike

I am married to a former OSU fan who I have turned into a Michigan fan. Living in Southern Ohio its not easy being one of the Only Michigan fans around but growing up during the John Cooper era made it not so bad. I have only been to 1 Michigan game and that was the UMASS game during the Rich Rod tenure where I was too star struck to actually enjoy A2 as it was my first time in Ann Arbor. I don't expect to get the tickets as I know there are WAY more deserving people than me but it doesnt hurt to try!

I am still trying to break my streak of Michigan road losses. I went to the Rose Bowl in 05, Sparty in 09, Dallas this year and Nebraska this year. All losses! I need to break this streak and this is the game to do it. The Game in Columbus is on my bucket list, but I have had a hard time finding someone to go with me. Free tickets would allow me to take my wife or brother-in-law, both of whom are huge Michigan fans.
My story is not great I am just an average guy who loves this team and would love to see them roll over the buckeyes in Columbus.

I have lived in Columbus for the past 21 years. My family is originally from Northern Michigan (Ellsworth, MI). My family moved to Ohio after my father returned from Desert Storm. Because my father was in the army, I never knew the intensity of the rivalry until I moved to Ohio. We lived in West Germany during my middle childhood so I didn't have the opportunity to watch football. The most memoriable game as a Michigan fan in Columbus was the 1996 game. I was working as a teenager at Wendy's. I was the only employee in Michigan gear. After the game, a drunk fan came in and started screaming at me because of my shirt. He ran around the dining area, tossing over tables, and throwing food. It was very entertaining to watch him react to an Ohio loss.
I hate to admit this but I hold a graduate degree from O$U. I have lived in Columbus since the early 90s. After I was married, I couldn't talk my wife into leaving Columbus, so O$U was the only school in my area that was offering the graduate degree I was pursuing. However, I stayed true to my roots and wore Michigan gear on campus. I received crap from other students and professors, but I thought it was fun to see their reaction to the colors I wore.
I'm now working on my doctorate and am attending a school in Cincinnati because I didn't want to return to O$U. Unfortunately, I have not had the chance to make it to a Michigan game this year. This is the first year since 2000 that I have not been to an actual game. If I were to be offered the tickets, I would bring my 8 year old son. He loves sports, especially Michigan Football. He is a walking sports almanac and never forgets a score, stat, etc.
Best of luck to the winner of the tickets. O$U fans are a rare breed and I would love to see Michigan beat Ohio in their own house!
# GO BLUE!

I can't believe I met someone on this board that has family from Ellsworth too! That is pretty awesome; what a small world! Your description of your son reminds me of my nephew; he knows everything about Michigan football!
I hope you guys win! & good luck in your studies!

I love Ellsworth. My family still owns a house on Church Road. It is a nice small town and my brother and I loved to visit Barrow Park in order to swim in Lake Michigan during the summer.

I thought I would also mention that I went to Cambodia in August to volunteer at an Orphanage with my church. Because I live in Columbus, the majority of the group were Ohio fans. However, I was able to teach the children how to play "Hail to the Victors" on the keyboard.

I normally wouldn't ask for a handout and I'm sure there are so many more deserving people out there, but since I'm going up with family already, thought I'd take a shot; and I can absolutely defend myself!
I'd still happily be passed up for Mott's! Nice gesture none the less and I hope somebody deserving gets to go. That's pretty kind of you.

Ive been to Columbus a few times on that fateful weekend, but not to the game. The national championship ballroom competition is there that weekend and i cheered for and eventually competed for UM. I was there the day of the 'game of the century' and while we lost the game by 3... we won the natl championship in ballroom.
I experienced last years win front row student section next to lloyd brady. It was an amazing experience. I want to go down to that craphole of a city and finally see a game with the worst fanbase out there. Plus if they vandalize my car its destruction of federal property and its surrounded by cameras (research car) lol

I have a bad knee that hurts when it rains. On top of that I occasionally drink too much and cut my own hair. During hurricane sandy my knee hurt so bad that I got really drunk and cut everyone's hair, including my wife's.
That being said I think you should give them to someone more deserving.

live in toledo and although there is a fair amount of Michigan fans I am constantly harrassed by ohio fans. I have stuck true blue sticking it out the entire seasons of 2007-2010 and entire games, even the dreaded freezing Northwestern game of 2008.
This year I drove the trips to south bend and lincoln only to come empty handed. BUT nothing is better than going to an away game cheering on the maize and blue. If I were to go to Columbus I would be the loudest, proudest Michigan fan in that toilet seat of a stadium.
EDIT: Those gloves are awsome!
Hail,
Pete

for your continued service. I'm very familiar with working under your "vision" and it's much appreciated. I'm a vet, but feel any Active Duty member of our armed services should get every opportunity to attend an awesome and memorable event like this. I'll be cheering in Columbus at a tailgate near stadium, then off to a local bar to watch.
Does anybody have any idea of a decent place to take my wife and watch the game near the statium? Good luck, and I'm pulling for you to get the tickets.
Go Blue!
Thank you for your service!

I can't wait until I have the same ability to bless someone with a similar gift. Until then it's all about blessing people with the little things.
I have been a fan since 96 which was my freshman year of high school and my first year playing football. My position was DB so I will give you one guess as to who drew my attention to Michigan.
What is funny is that my father and older sister are big Ohio fans so the trash talking is none stop year round.
My parents even went so far as to decorate my entire room in scarlet and grey, shit they even bought me a osu football field rug. I will upload a pic later because its pretty sad.
My father is 67 and has never been to an Ohio game since his family moved away from Ohio when he was 10 and my first Michigan game came in 2007 at the rose bowl and I cried from being so overwhelmed.
My father's health is getting worst and his body is breaking down as he gets older from all the years working in law enforcement. It would be pretty a MAIZE ing to take him to the "game" while he can still enjoy it and on a side note I was late to my sisters wedding because of the rain delay when we played western Michigan because I wasn't going to leave my house to miss the game! My wife knows that once the season starts to not plan anything on Saturdays.

but where to begin? I'll try to make this as short and to the point as possible. I was born and raised in Ann Arbor and absolutely love watching the maize and blue every single time they play. I remember playing pee wee ball in Ann Arbor and there were three teams, the Packers, Rams, and Wolverines. Of course every kid wanted to wear the winged helmet, sadly I got the Packers and remembered being so crushed by the fact I had to play against the Wolverines...just didn't seem right. Growing up my bedroom was clad in UofM colors wall to wall. After graduating from Ann Arbor Huron I enlisted into the Marine Corps and told my mom no worries it's peace time. A couple of years later Desert Shield/Storm happened and i got to spend the '90 season in the desert moving from hole to hole. I got this cool care package from my family and in it was a picture of my mom on the sidelines of the Michigan v. UCLA game with a stinking ice cream sandwich in her hand...so not only is she killing me with being on the sidelines of a Michigan game but then she has an ice cream sandwich in hand to boot, talk about killing me smalls, geesh! Anyways, I followed UofM the best I could while in the desert. I don't remember particulars from that season other than UofM was ranked highly and lost a couple of close games. After being discharged from the Marines I won tickets to the Colorado hail mary game and took my little brother, who was 8 at the time, to his first M game. Whle everyone was shocked by the outcome my brother was in full balling mode, just absolutely sobbing uncontrollably. Took a long while to calm him down. I then met my wife while she was atttending EMU and she's from Ohio and graduated as an occupational therapist and the SE Mich OT market was flooded with OTs. So with my bachelor degree in business we moved to Ohio where she was able to find a job. I did as well and have been in Ohio since '01 and subjected to all sorts of Ohio shenanigans and it didn't help any with M going through the horrible 7 year streak and the '06 loss to Ohio and then RR years was like icing on the cake for people I worked around to talk as much smack as possible. My home and my work cube leave little doubt as to where my loyalties lie and I wouldn't have it any other way. After being a Michigan fan my entire life I finally got to go to my first Mich v. Ohio game in '09 and we know that didn't end well but got to go to last years game as well with my brother. It was definitely sweet to get that win and not have to watch my brother sobbing uncontrollably again. I have talked with some buddies of going on UofM road trips and we finally did the Purdue game this year, really cool and got to say GO BLUE to Dave Brandon who quickly waved me off with a mumbled go blue of his own, but still cool. I have wanted to see the shoe, but only if Michigan is playing. I would love to take my brother but also have thoughts on taking my 8 year old daughter who is the only other M fan in my house and got to take her to her first M game earlier this season against Umass. Not a great game but I also wanted to take her to a sure win and not have a repeat of a sobbing kid. My wife is a Ohio fan and I just can't bring myself to take her...it's gotta be a M fan! She has been cool about things though and got me an authentic Michigan helmet last Christmas and an authentic jersey a couple years before that.
Ok, so way longer than I had anticipated. Good luck to everyone and as always GO BLUE!!! BEAT OHIO!!!!
