Leaders and Best!
breakdown on all of the teams and sports that we did well in. It is pretty damn impressive when you see all the teams and how well they did all in one paragraph. Congrats to all the men and woman from the U of M.
And Trey Burke returns next year.
Thanks for a relevant and informative post during the offseason. I like some of the OT stuff that's on the boards, but this blog is about Michigan sports and seeing something like this - given some of the stuff on the board - is refreshing.
Also, great seasons from all these Wolverines! Go Blue!
I'd like to see a list of all the sports that we were terrible at this year so we can show our support for them too.
Eighteen mentioned here, sixteen of which finished top-20. That leaves eight: baseball, lacrosse, mens soccer, womens soccer, mens golf, womens golf, then M/W track is still ongoing.
Baseball: 22-34 (8-16)
Lacrosse: 1-13
Mens Soccer: 5-14-1 (1-5-0)
Womens Soccer 9-8-2 (4-6-1)
Mens Golf: 10th at B1G Championship
Womens Golf: 4th at B1G Championship, 16th at Columbus Regional

I would insert this if I could, but maybe someone with more skill than I could do so.
Not trying to troll, but wasn't Michigan 22nd in the final poll for MBB?
why do you troll little brother?
Wasn't Michigan the 2011-12 B1G Champions?
Yes they were, as the OP said. They weren't, however, 13th in the final rankings as the OP said. Just keep it accurate, its a great list.
eh with my username, anything negative about michigan is thought of as trolling lol.
Incredible to see how much success Michigan athletics has over the course of a year and across so many different sports!
Illinois is third? Just imagine how good they would be if someone got the football team into decent shape, and brought the BBall program back
Thats cool! im surprised teams with bad football or basketball teams are so high. Wouldnt expect Illinois, Minnesota, PSU or Purdue to be so far ahead of MSU or Wisconsin. Where did you find this? If lacrosse was included, northwesterns would shoot up.
Thats the Michigan difference.
I'm going to wait until the athletic season is completely finished so I can do a complete breakdown of all the varsity sports. I might do it in a diary.
It was indeed a terrific year and a marked improvement overall from last year.
However, let's not be too disappointed if Michigan actually winds up dropping down a few spots in the final Directors' Cup standings. They are unlikely to catch any of the four schools currently above them (except maybe Penn St.) and California, North Carolina, Virginia, UCLA, Duke, Texas A&M, and a few others all have very strong men's and women's spring sports programs and could possibly pass us in the end.
