4-star LB Aramide Olaniyan plans to visit Michigan.
From the kids video, he seems to have an excellent initial burst and really likes to hit people. Sign him up!
If this kid is as talented as it seems, how does he end up at Duke? The Blue Devils have improved, but they won't exactly be playing many games in prime time.
Duke isn't really a football powerhouse, but (a) this kid is might be the best LB on the team the day he shows up (or good enough to be a starter) and not many BCS schools can offer that, and (b) Duke is the best academic school in the BCS outside of Stanford. I don't know a lot about this kid's academic aspirations, but if he's a bright kid, Duke is a fantastic school. For some of the kids, football is all that matters, but not for all of them.
Props to you OB, GREAT thread title.

According to Tom's interview he legitimately places academics at the top of the list; wants to be a lawyer.
Let me be the firs to say, the name is awesome.
Is he any relation to C.J. Olaniyan? The DE out of Warren Mott HS in Detroit? I think I remember hearing something about him being a relatively recent move to Michigan.
no relation
I was thinking the same thing. For a second there, I thought the OP was about CJ or was a joke.
Hey, if we can get him to come for a visit, who knows? We can always use a 4* LB.
We are Michigan. We dont recruit stud LB's .And secondly this is RR we are talking about: Poor kid has no chance of coming to Michigan unless he can lose a star :- )
Brilliant!
What part of sarcasm alert did you a-holes not understand. -9, are you freaking kidding me?
It just... wasn't funny.
mkay?
That joke is so over used at this point, I didn't dock ya but I'm not surprised others did.
Saying "sarcasm alert" doesn't make what you did OK.
Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
notice when reading that article that Robert Crisp and Peter Singer are both transferring from Chapel Hill High to Cedar Hill High?
I'll be the fans of cross town rival Durham High (editorial note...this is a fictitious school) will now start crowing on and on about the demise of Chapel Hill football...
The way LB recruiting has gone lately.. I hope we can get him up here to enjoy the campus and maybe consider Michigan. That's all.
Olaniyan was becoming a strong possibility to be Irish last month when he visited for the last spring camp. Many expected he would be offered with some going as far as to say he would commit on the spot, but all of his interviews after the camp didn't sound too confident and he has yet to be offered.
He is definitely one of the few who mean that academics are important in his final decision, which is even more obvious with his current Duke verbal.
He had made quite a few ND fans thus far into his recruitment
Which is exactly why we need to get him on campus before UCLA. ND blew their chance to use their academics to get him away from Duke, I don't think UCLA will make the same mistake.
He has a cool name.
Maybe I am missing something but why is ND fan on here. Aren't there ND blog sites? You don't say anything negative, I am just wondering.
Maybe he wants info on UM, one of ND's big rivals. Maybe he likes the recruiting info which includes recruits also recruited by ND. It's probably that he thinks I'm a really cool guy. He's not the only rival fan who posts here. He's like the more talkative, ND version of Pogue. Beats the hell out of (most of) the Sparty kids around here.

eLOVE at first sight?!
I'll bet he, like many of us, wish people would stop asking him once a week to validate his existence.
Irish adds a unique ND perspective here, which I for one appreciate. He is generally not obnoxious, or very douchey, so he's welcome as far as I'm concerned.
Maybe we can convert the Papist
FWIW Olaniyan's coach (Clint Alexander) used to be a coach in concord,mi (my hometown) and then northville,mi before moving down to virginia. We used to travel to AA to see michigan spring practices and met with the coaches(Carr's staff) a few times. I'm not sure how involved coach alexander is with Olaniyan's recruiting process, but I have to imagine he is pushing for U of M.
Linebacker Quintin Tucker (6-2, 235) from San Diego (Calif.) Scripps Ranch is a player to watch this coming fall. This is one of the strongest kids in the country. Has a max bench press over 405lbs. Quintin had a great camp and Michigan's Senior Elite Camp. Played with Tate Forcier last season.
