I'm a fan of character development and all, but hopefully this is better than sitting on the farm looking for a dead girl for 8 episodes again...
February 12th, 2012 at 9:09 PM ^
I agree, the could have cut those last 6 episodes down to 2. I'm still trying to figure out what Jenner wispered to Rich at the CDC at the end of season 1, and I'm on Mearl watch!
February 12th, 2012 at 9:16 PM ^
Ya Jenner said something significant in season 1, my first guess was he told Rick that Lori was pregnant when he took her blood; but at the beginning of season 2 Rick was on the walkie with Morgan telling him that Jenner's secret could mean quite alot for the world. Hopefully we'll findd out sooner rather than later.

I dropped out midway through the first chunk of this season. I'm a big Mad Men fan and this show bored the hell out of me.
February 13th, 2012 at 2:05 PM ^
Because it's probably because of Mad Men that this season bored you.
February 12th, 2012 at 9:06 PM ^
I just finished the most recent episode and damn, that was one of the best endings/cliffhangers I have ever seen. I cannot wait for the next episdode tonight, this is a great show.
February 12th, 2012 at 9:09 PM ^
Yeah, that was pretty good. I liked how the first half of this second season was all about how he wasn't being as much of a "hard ass" as the rest of them - but when it came to it he was the one who stepped up. I truly didn't see that coming with her being in the barn the whole time. I think it struck me like a few seconds before she walked out.
February 12th, 2012 at 9:07 PM ^
it is a great show, I'm DVR'ing it right now. Certainly one of the best shows on the basic cable channels (not HBO or Showtime).
I wish the seasons were longer thought. The first season was only like 6 episodes...I don't know if that's because they didn't expect it to last or if that's because that was how long the book series went.
I didn't particularly like the episodes when they were in the bottom of that government building in the first season but I'm loving this season now that they're a smaller group out on their own and this farm group that they're staying with is pretty interesting.

I just started watching it on Netflix. I just signed up for their free month and saw this. Since I grew up with the zombie movies in the 80's. I thought I check this out. Had Netflix since Friday and I'm already on episode 5.. Love this show. Do you get recent new releases in the US on Netflix. Most of the new releases on the Canadian version are a few years old.
February 12th, 2012 at 11:42 PM ^
This is the 2nd season.
February 13th, 2012 at 11:34 AM ^
I also just got into the show having watched Season 1 on Netflix (in the U.S.). Unfortunately S2 is not available on Netflix here, or at least wasn't a couple of weeks ago. You can either pay for S2 or if you're so inclined you might find a sharing / streaming site with it available. Last night's episode was S3E1.
I agree that S2 was not as good due to so much down time at the farm, but it's still a good show and watching the descent of Shane has been entertaining.
I think the best actor in the show is Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl. I can't wait to see if his brother shows up some where down the road.
As far as what was whispered to Rick at the CDC, it can't have been about Lori's pregnancy. My guess is that the virus was man-made and got loose from the CDC.

for free on the web let me know. I would like to watch it before I start watching season three. I'm not even sure that I get this show on tv. I don't have AMC or IFC so I might have to wait to watch it online. Hopefully Netflix will put season 2 on soon.

Actually it's still season 2, episode 8. Check IMDB.com, season 3 doesn't start until this fall.

I'm having Lagunitas IPA for the first time, and man is it good. It's as easy to drink as Two Hearted and Dogfish 60. That's my new top 3 IPAs right there.
February 12th, 2012 at 9:35 PM ^
give Lagunitas Sucks a try. It is an excellent brew. And a great name.
February 12th, 2012 at 9:40 PM ^
Thanks for the recommendation! I'll be keeping an eye out for that one.
February 12th, 2012 at 9:57 PM ^
had some reps handing out samples at Beer Week here in Kzoo. I had to buy a couple of pints of Lagunitas Sucks after tasting it. The company was a pretty entertaining history as well.
February 12th, 2012 at 10:08 PM ^
Go on...
February 12th, 2012 at 10:20 PM ^
Lagunatis, CA, BUT they are no longer located in Lagunatis. The founders of the company were not knowledgeable in the physics of yeast fermentation and dumped all of the waste yeast into the sewer system. The yeast did its thing, and blew up the sewer system. The city council issued an ultimatum to the founders; pay for a new sewer system or be banished from the city forever. They chose to leave and name the company after the city that banished them.
February 12th, 2012 at 10:34 PM ^
Good story! It's funny that some guys can make some great beer but be clueless about other parts of the process. I guess it goes to show that anyone can make good beer.
February 12th, 2012 at 10:47 PM ^
The reps said the founders are cool guys but a little nuts. They also said that many of their beers are created entirely by accident. A very interesting company.
February 12th, 2012 at 10:26 PM ^
The Sucks is really good. They made it in place of Brown Shugga which is normally their winter season beer. SInce they had their new brewhouse coming in, they couldn't make Brown Shugga so made the Lagunitas Sucks instead. You probably wont be able to get it again anytime soon, so get and enjoy now if you can!
February 12th, 2012 at 10:32 PM ^
A friend and I are planning to go tomorrow to only pub in Kzoo that serves it.
February 12th, 2012 at 10:36 PM ^
I'm in Northern Virginia and there are a lot of really good beer stores, so I guess I'm gonna have to do some treasure hunting.
February 12th, 2012 at 9:18 PM ^
Will they please kill zombies during the show instead of killing one in the last 5 minutes? I'm getting sick of the same old crap, this farm thing I'm sure saved them tons of money.
February 12th, 2012 at 9:19 PM ^
This season could have been so much more. http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/01/09/frank-darabont-walking-dead-season-2-plan/
February 12th, 2012 at 9:22 PM ^
Wow that would have been awsome, I hope they add some of that at some point!
February 12th, 2012 at 10:11 PM ^
Yeah, it really looks like they dropped the ball on that one. Sure that episode would have been expensive but with all of the attention the show has been getting they should have bit the bullet and did it. I think the show has lost popularity this last season because of the drawn out character development with little to no action.
The episode that they described would have put the show on an entirely different level, in my opinion. I just keep waiting for some ridiculous stuff to go down or something mind-blowing to happen, and it just doesn't.
*Semi-spoiler alert* Tonight's episode had an interesting scene at the end, but it looks to me like they're on the farm to stay for the near future. The sooner they get off the farm the better IMO, at least for the sake of keeping the show interesting.
February 13th, 2012 at 5:57 AM ^
So I was wrong, instead they killed two normal people in the last 5 minutes.
February 12th, 2012 at 9:40 PM ^
I'm drinking white grape juice...
February 12th, 2012 at 9:42 PM ^
I've seen so many zombie movies if there was an apocalypse I would survive, we spent so much time planning this stuff I kind of want it to happen.
February 12th, 2012 at 9:48 PM ^
My roomates and I spent the first day of our new house drinking and formulating a plan in case the zombie apocalypse happened. It was like the christening of the house we did it for the 3 different houses we lived in during our years at Western.
February 12th, 2012 at 9:47 PM ^
I'm going with my usuall. Victoria with a lime, salt, and a few drops of Valentina hot sauce.
February 12th, 2012 at 9:49 PM ^
Does everyone have their zombie apocalypse game plan in place? I have a deal with the owner of rural cherry and grape farm, he also owns quite a few guns.
February 12th, 2012 at 9:50 PM ^
I'll be watching the new episode on my DVR after the grammys are finished. I'm on west coast time out here in Oregon.
I'm in agreement that the first half of season two really got bogged down. Although we did learn a lot about some of the characters. Hopefully it'll get moving quick this season.
In terms of what I am drinking. Well that is a special treat. A couple of months ago me and a some budies brewed our own Imperial IPA. 7.9% ABV, 94 IBUs, dark brown in color. It was our first attempt and it turned out really well.
We had a little help from Portland UBrew & Pub, so if you are ever in Pdx stop by anf give them a try.
And the best part about our beer is that it only cost us about $2 per 22oz bottle.
I love Beervana!
Enjoy the show everyone...

Looks like everyone congregates at the bar!
February 12th, 2012 at 9:58 PM ^
It would appear Rick has finally turned the corner as in the graphic novels. PS he killed a Michigan fan.....son of a bitch.
February 12th, 2012 at 10:02 PM ^
Which one of those guys was a Michigan fan? The thinner one had a shirt with a picture of a shark on it and the other had a plain white t-shirt.
February 12th, 2012 at 10:06 PM ^
Michael Raymond-James is a known Michigan fan. He was in the FX show Terriers, and he's also been on Trueblood (sad that I know that). AKA the skinny guy
February 12th, 2012 at 10:16 PM ^
So you've read the graphic novels? I haven't, and I'm debating on whether to start now. On one hand, I hear that they are amazing, but on the other hand, I feel like they will 'ruin' many of the plot twists in the show for me. How closely is the show following the plot of the graphic novels?
February 12th, 2012 at 10:21 PM ^
Without ruining anything, the novels are great and the show does a pretty good job of following them. Obviously they can't do everything the same, but generally they follow the storyline fairly well. I'd recommend them if you have some free time to spend.
February 13th, 2012 at 1:17 AM ^
yea I read them & I love the art work mainly ... obviously the story has legs, as it's been carried over pretty well to TV. but if you like nice art, the books are worth a look. I'm happy to have a couple graphic novels like The Walking Dead & The Watchmen on my book shelf along with all my literature & fantasy/sci fi novels.
February 12th, 2012 at 10:21 PM ^
I was rockin' an Arcadia Sky High Rye and had the Wings on. Back to Estates reading...ugh. Walking Dead is on the DVR...
February 12th, 2012 at 10:34 PM ^
It looks like they are running into the season 3 wall. I can't see it making it past a season 4.
February 12th, 2012 at 10:36 PM ^
I found it funny that Lori would go off on her own, pregnant and in a place she had no idea where she was going. Damn women screw everything up.
February 12th, 2012 at 11:36 PM ^
Flamebait in a TV series discussion.. This ratings system sucks.
