Which games are you missing this season due to other commitments?
Like the post title says, I'm sure several of you have other commitments getting in the way of football watchin'. I, for one, am starting my weekend MBA this fall - 8am-5pm every other Saturday (thank goodness that the program is half virtual).
I'll be missing:
Sept 6 - vs Miami: not a big deal. I can live without watching this live.
Sept 20 - Bye: woo!
Oct 4 - vs Illinois: bummed that I'm missing this, as it's homecoming and my wife went there. Also, it's my 5th wedding anniversary. I guess that means I won't be watching the game until maybe Sunday (or later!)
Oct 18 - @ Penn State: I should be able to get home in time to catch the last quarter or so, but we're leaving for a 2 week vacation to Hawaii the next day, so it'll be a busy day.
Oct 25 - vs MSU: I'll be in Hawaii. If it's the early time slot (12-12:30ET), I may be able to watch it before anyone else is up. Assuming I can get it out there, of course.
Nov 1 - @ Purdue: I can live without watching this game, I think. I'll probably be too out of it to watch the recording when I get home anyway, due to jetlag and the fact that I have finals this day. Ouch.
Nov 15 - vs Northwestern: Again, can live without watching this one.
Timing works out well, though: I get to watch (live) Utah, Wisco, nd, Minny, osu, and maybe msu. Oh yeah, and Toledo.

I have a wedding this Saturday which I am missing to be at the game. I'll be making the reception after the game is over. I explained to my friend that I had tickets to the game and he totally understood. He is pissed at his fiance/future wife that she scheduled the wedding on the same day as the 1st home game and not the week before.
The only other game I'll be missing is the Toledo game because I'll be at a Michigan Fan's wedding in Grand Rapids. I can never understand why people would plan on getting married during the Football season. Stupid, stupid people. Don't they know they being selfish and hurting the ones they love?

I'm at the age where my friends are starting to get married and I have informed them all that I don't do fall weddings.
I also advised them to think twice about a woman that wants to schedule a wedding on a college football saturday.

the only obligation i have is visiting my little sister at Texas Tech the weekend of the bye. I've secured tickets to see Tech dismantle the UMASS minutemen. I may miss another game if I visit my other little sister at UT.
I might be missing the ND game for substitute teacher orientation. that date hasnt been nailed down, but I'd get out around 4pm on a saturday.

I dont miss Michigan games.
Living and dying with the Maize and Blue roller coaster is a family tradition, so even when family events/gatherings/issues get in the way.......they dont really get in the way.
Cant think of one game that I have not watched live or listend to on the radio live (way back when all the games weren't on TV). Maybe something from the early 1990s when I was in college and not living in the immediate area.

That, my friend, would be an excused absence as far as I see it.
Weddings, no. Serving your country, yes.
