Congrats to Tim if true, cool news. Hope he can still contribute here.
August 15th, 2011 at 9:20 AM ^
Congrats if true as well. However, it's very sad that both Tim and Tom will now be behind paywalls...
August 15th, 2011 at 10:42 AM ^
Wait did I miss something? Why is tom behind a paywall?
August 15th, 2011 at 11:23 AM ^
Tom is supposed to run a site for ESPN starting in the fall I believe. We're assuming it is going to be a pay site.
Congratulations to both of you guys! We'll surely miss you.

Also featuring Rothstein, and some girl named Chantel (could be wrong on the name), but she's already trying to dig up dirt on M players. Trying to make a name for herself...
August 15th, 2011 at 8:50 PM ^
I think Chantel is this chick.

Former writer for the daily. She's pretty good, but wasn't quite as good as the other girl(drawing a blank on her name).

Sorry, I thought anyone could read it

An article behind a paywall about new hirings who will be writing for the site behind a paywall...how cruelly ironic...
August 15th, 2011 at 6:38 PM ^
Irony Nazi Says: Not Ironic. :D
August 15th, 2011 at 9:26 AM ^
Well dicuss away, until it is deleted, if in fact it will be! Congrats Tim!

Rumor is he's going over to ESPN Ann Arbor.
August 15th, 2011 at 9:39 AM ^
WHAT?!?!?! This is devastating!
August 15th, 2011 at 10:32 AM ^
it was actually announced and thus turning from rumour to fact.
August 15th, 2011 at 11:14 AM ^
Really? That's insane.
Anyway, does that require ESPN Insider (the kind that you can get free with ESPN the Magazine)? Sometimes there are net deals for $4/ year for the magazine.
August 15th, 2011 at 9:29 AM ^
That is awesome. I saw the article but didn't recognize the last name. Now I feel like an idiot.
With Tim gone to RIvals - will Brian / Tom take their talents to ESPN?
August 15th, 2011 at 9:32 AM ^
Congrats Tim!
August 15th, 2011 at 9:37 AM ^
As a loyal MGoBlog reader and frequent lurker on the Rivals.com Michigan message board (The Fort), Tim has big shoes to fill but he's going to be great at it. The other part of the post on Rivals was that TomVH is headed to work with Rittenberg @ ESPN. Big losses for MGoBlog.
August 15th, 2011 at 9:38 AM ^
Nice job, Tim! Hopefully nothing happens to MGoBlog, but it's nice that these guys are getting noticed for their hard work.
August 15th, 2011 at 9:50 AM ^
If anything happened to MGoBlog, you would have to be put on suicide watch.

for least informative title of the day is....
August 15th, 2011 at 10:33 AM ^
But maybe it's just camouflage to keep the thread of getting deleted. (Yay, that's the ticket!). Everyone knows no one reads the threads on here.
August 15th, 2011 at 9:48 AM ^
Hooray Tim.
August 15th, 2011 at 9:56 AM ^
time to get those resumes into Brian if you're interested in working in this field...
EDIT: Although I wouldn't be surprised if he already has candidates in mind (what we in the biz call a succession plan for key talent). Anyway, best of luck to Tim and Tom in their new ventures.
August 15th, 2011 at 10:30 AM ^
I think it was Spath who got the job at the Wolverine I applied for originally. But I'd have to trace the timeline to be sure. Now they have a whole "staff" (which back then consisted of Borton and someone else).
August 15th, 2011 at 9:52 AM ^
...TIm. Not so good news for MGoBlog.com. Here's hoping that Tim's replacement is as outstanding as he's been.

provides, as far as I can tell, unique content that is better than what subscribers get to Rivals etc. All of those recruiting insights, interviews and inside info were not present here before Tom. Good for him and well done, but the site will be much poorer and that's sad for me.
August 15th, 2011 at 9:54 AM ^
Guys I just started tracking Brian's private jet and have found that he's flying to Bristol, CT. Initial reports on MLive and Bleacher are that Pat Forde will be the new Tim.
Trust me, the reports came from a guy who said that he definitely knows a guy who is involved at ESPN. This is rock solid.

would probably be a good recruiting analyst. he seems to always be on top of his game when it comes to recruiting.
August 15th, 2011 at 10:16 AM ^
Not sure
August 15th, 2011 at 10:16 AM ^
Congrats Tim! I think it says a lot about MGoBlog that the writers here are being hired away and not writers from some other news source.

August 15th, 2011 at 10:22 AM ^
Considering Chet already knows all of the players personally, I think he would be the obvious successor.
August 15th, 2011 at 10:29 AM ^
Some possibilities will come from this:
1) This will only set up a reality show - who wants to be MGoBlog's new recruiting tsar?
2) Or, we could roll out the MGoBlog Recruiting Genius Thunderdome, and the winner gets the spoils....
