NFL Draft Discussion-1st round
Where does JJ go? Any other Michigan guys in first round. I’m not from Michigan but I will throw in the question of who do the Lions go after? If I’m the Bears I’m drafting JJ and then Odunze. I just think he will be better than MHJ. Thoughts overall?
With the Penix pick, I think we’re officially at the point where the post-draft narrative will be that JJ slid.
Eh, whatever. JJ is a winner and will win wherever he ends up.
Better for him to play with a better team, though. May he "slip" all the way to the Lions, sit for a year or two behind Goff, then dominate!
The Lions need defense, but if JJ is there... Boy would that be nice...
At the end of the season, he was projected at the end of the first round. All the recent mocks had Minnesota taking him at 5. Nobody is going to focus on that pick happening 5 picks later because they traded up to 10 instead.
Thank you fellow NFC team. I figured their ownership was boneheaded. But wow, way to not boost your OL.
Wish Penix well, but wow.
ATL had other needs than QB, my main complaint. Then its just Penix & injuries.
Bears so terrible at drafting QBs they should take JJ just to make sure they got a QB.
Odunze to make Caleb very happy?
Penix... that's just a head-scratcher. I guess you get the guy if you're sure he'll be a winner, but I don't see it.
What makes it crazy is that they’re on the hook for a ton of money to Kirk Cousins.
I’m going to puke if Minnesota gets JJ.
Looks like you're puking. I'll grab a bucket.
Teams not concerned about his knees, not concerned about his shoulders. lol. Is there anything else to be concerned about? 😂 Injury prone apparently only applies to Running backs nowadays
Can't believe Dallas Turner is still on the board. I guess the NFL doesn't believe in defense anymore.
Defense only fills seats in Baltimore, I guess. If everybody outside of Detroit wants to go offense this round, I'll take it.
Blech.
This is going to end up being Chicago with Williams and Odunze and Minnesota with JJ.
Gross.
It really sucks that Lions fans now have to root against JJ.
I was right about their wr pick, they just drafted the wrong qb.
Wonder if JJ expected this staying home, and thus didn’t want to be Brady Quinn at the draft?
Still could go top 10, that’s not the reason to stay home. I wish he would’ve went, especially since it’s in Detroit but that’s not JJ’s style.
Such a fucking stupid move by Atlanta. Nothing against Penix, a really good talent (when he has a clean pocket), but I’d bet $100 he was otherwise still going to be there when Atlanta picked in the second round tomorrow, and Atlanta BADLY needed help on their DL.
Besides, with just signing Kirk Cousins to a four year deal, you don’t waste a top 10 pick on a guy who can’t help your franchise for at least 2-3 years.
And he’s going to be almost 30 by the time he takes the field.
He's seven months older than Jayden Daniels.
Denver would have drafted Penix before that. At this point a warm body is an upgrade to what they have at QB.
Great draft so far as far as the Lions are concerned, but ….WOW!! Unless there’s an undisclosed injury issue with JJ, a lot of teams are going to look stupid. This has kind of an Aaron Rodgers draft day feel to it.
Bears have DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, and Rome Odunze. Feels like eating dessert instead of vegetables.
Meanwhile JJ is in the NFC North likely.
Taking the OSU path to team building
Plus Cole Kmet and D'Andre Swift. It'll be hard for a QB to fail with all those weapons.
That has to be what they're thinking. The Bears defense was real good after they traded for Montez Sweat.
The Bears played the Lions probably as well as anybody in the league last year.
Here comes the Vikes for JJ
Please No, Please No, Please No! I'm torn I want JJ to get drafted but not by Minnesota!
Why not just get Jets to pinky swear not to take your pick?
There were 3 teams right after that have QB listed as a need. I bet more than 1 team wanted to trade up.
Any doubt Minny just moved on JJ?
Looks like JJ will be a Viking. Excited for him.
JJ staying in the Midwest ???
Michigan has 18 players with a draft profile at NFL.com That doesn't mean all 18 will get drafted, but look at how far once great Nebraska has fallen, just 2 players with a draft profile.
Look at all these top 10 draft picks that M shut down. Marvin, Latham, Penix, and now Odunze….
Yeah, I'm watching on ABC, and I have to believe Desmond is sitting there thinking that.

LOL if you consider 118 yards and a TD getting shut down.....just wow! Nobody shut Marv down. Not here to throw shade , just an observation. I am actually a lions fan. FYI none of the QBs drafted this year will do anything special in The League, including JJ. He was a game manager who benefitted from a strong defense and running game. You all need to take off your maize and blue glasses.
I don't want JJ in Minnesota. I hate what seems like is about to happen.
Its unfortunate for Michigan fans' rooting interests but it's the best place for him to have a successful career.
NFC North is going to be a beast
Sorry, Sam Darnold... it's not going to be your year.
I am guessing this is some type of record for players in the top ten who all took a BIG FAT FUCKING L to the same team.
It is pretty amazing that half of the top 10 lost to the guy taken #10. Feels like that doesn't happen too often.
I hate the Vikings and it's pretty apparent they're picking JJ.
Seriously pissed.
Sorry, but this is the best fit for JJ
