NFL Draft Discussion-1st round
Where does JJ go? Any other Michigan guys in first round. I’m not from Michigan but I will throw in the question of who do the Lions go after? If I’m the Bears I’m drafting JJ and then Odunze. I just think he will be better than MHJ. Thoughts overall?

The Dallas Cowboys can kiss my ass.

I hate the Cowboys and their America’s Team bs. They may be my least favorite team in all sports- it’s either them, OSU or the Yankees.

Ah well. I don't like them either, and I also hate the Yankees, and I still hate the Avs, and so on...
But it's OSU.

Well, I'm a Yankees/Giants/Knicks fan--I'm originally from the Bronx. So I hate the Red Sox and the L.A. Dodgers in addition to the Cowboys and OSU.

I grew up on CT - right on the Red Sox / Yankees line. I went with the Sox because I had a Jim Rice mitt, but there were many lean years with that decision.

I like the Yankees too; the Babe and Lou Gehrig were my favorite ballplayers when I was a kid. In the late 60's/early 70's, not the 20's and 30's lol.

The Dodgers fled Brooklyn 7 decades ago.
You still mad bro?

It dates from the '77 and '78 World Series.
It's OSU but the only reason it might not be OSU is as awful as they are, they're college kids which might earn them back enough points to be less awful than a few other teams.....but probably still not.

Seems the Lions moved up to get in early on a decent set of corners with a bit of size and a lot of athleticism. Wiggins was in that group, so is Iowa's DeJean and the guy with the nickname who played with Arnold.
It's good to move up and get your guy out of a group.

SF just picked DeJean. Good pick.

They picked Ricky Pearsall

Twitter failed me… its all Elons fault
April 25th, 2024 at 11:48 PM ^
I don't see it - they reached for a wide receiver from Florida that I didn't have on my list today. DeJean has first-round value, though. Best available on my chart.

Kool aid mckinistry.
He had a foot injury

Wow, Ricky Pearsall? That definitely feels like a reach.

Likely in response to Aiyuck wanting out

Leggette from South Carolina goes to the Panthers. Cool
Whatever happened to Nyckoles Harbor?
12 catches for 195 yards, 1 TD playing wide receiver for South Carolina.
...and he's been doing reasonably well in track, including running a 10.12 100M.

Final first-round tally: nine vanquished enemies, one program legend.
What a great football year this has been. Go Blue. Go Lions.

Interesting trade 32/33. Legette (the big WR Carolina picked) just won the lottery, sneaking into the first round with a huge bonus difference. Carolina must have wanted him very badly to screw with their cap like that.
Whoever Buffalo starts out with tomorrow - he'll come in with a big chip on his shoulder, missing out on that money. It's a tough business, but I don't think you want to do that to a guy you're making your first pick in a draft. They should probably trade down again just out of principle tomorrow.

Chris Smartfootball Brown retweeted a clip from Bill Belichick that was very interesting to me: If it's a big-money position and you really like the player, you think he'll be around: you get a fifth year option on a first-rounder, don't get that on a second-rounder. So if Legette is a hit, you save huge money in a pivotal year.
Of course Bill would know that off the top of his head.

I might recommend that with a lineman. Picking WR is, I think, tougher than picking QB in many respects. They really have a low hit rate and a lot of them grade out pretty much the same. The salary for the hits is huge now, so the fifth-year option on those guys is a lot of money anyway - you might as well give them the big contract anyway. So no, I wouldn't recommend it for a WR.

Quick First-Round Tally: QB - 6, WR - 7, TE - 1, OT - 7, IOL - 2 (offense 23), EDGE - 5, DT - 1, CB - 3 (defense 9).
Well...defense wins...oh wait a minute. Is Ryan Day running this?
April 26th, 2024 at 12:22 PM ^
It's a weak draft for defense but much stronger on offense especially at OL and WR. Last night reflects it. 6 QBs in the top 12 is crazy and at least half will bust. It's a matter of which QBs will bust.
