I know that sounds harsh but that's just the reality of College Football nowadays. Program develops you, builds up your NFL resume, trusts you and gives you significant playing time en route to a National Championship, and it still isn't enough. In fairness, losing the defensive staff probably contributed to his decision but to not even give Coach Moore and his new staff a chance to prove themselves in Spring practice is disappointing.
Disagree, I view it as Warde just making the easy hiring decision for the sake of "continuity" and then doing absolutely nothing to actually help maintain continuity.
Disappointing, but not surprising. Sherrone really has his work cut out for him now. Let's hope he's up to the challenge because, on the surface, it doesn't seem like he has a lot of support from the athletic department.
Really hope this doesn't cause us to lose Kenneth Grant and Mason Graham.
It's just disappointing seeing Juwan not address his coaching failures at all.
Just look at the women's basketball team right now. Kim Barnes Arico had to replace just as much of her roster after all the graduating talent last year, and she just took her team to Penn State and took down one of the hottest teams in the conference (won 6 straight overall, NET ranking 25).
NFL is just much more desirable at this point, I mean look at Hafley leaving a HC position at Boston College to be the Packers DC. College Football is an absolute mess and unless you're devoted to recruiting and fundraising, NFL is probably more suitable for most coaches since it's actually just coaching.
I don't know if its necessarily taking away from any position group. As an analyst, Brown was probably just floating around. I'm sure Moore will announce the defensive staff here shortly because we really have no idea who's staying, going, etc.
Definitely hear your point. I think it's just the easy thing to do right now because there's a lot of talent coming back and you don't want to cause a mass exodus since that's what college football is now. Also it's just a weird point in the year where coaches have already settled with their programs, there isn't really anyone out there to hire in February (at least to my knowledge).
Brutal loss. He was the foundation of this turnaround over the last 3 years.
Might be an unpopular opinion but it doesn't sit well with me that Harbaugh is taking Herbert on his way out. Minter is understandable given he was going to the NFL sooner rather than later, but the strength coach? Rumors are he wants to take Abigail O'Connor as well (head nutritionist). Maybe I don't understand the NFL staffing hierarchy well but those positions seem negligent at the next level whereas in college they are vital. Seems like the core of the football program is being gutted before our eyes.
Doesn’t strike me as wanting to setup Sherrone for success.
There's no defending Juwan Howard anymore, he needs to go. Bring in Dusty May or literally any coach that actually runs an offense and defense, not open gym X's and O's
This coaching staff is an utter embarrassment. No reason they should ever be this bad. Players look like they have no clue what they're doing out there!
Harbaugh at least had pedigree as a good coach, no losing seasons in the NFL, 3 straight NFC title games, and almost won a Super Bowl. Juwan has nothing comparable to that because he’s never been a head coach anywhere else before Michigan
Most underrated aspect of Beilein's manic approach to coaching was fundamentals... and now we see why. This team looks like they've never run a 3-man weave at times.
Every time I wanna believe Juwan will learn from prior mistakes, he again rolls out Llewellyn and 4 power forwards... and the lead is gone. Which is exactly what happened last year. This fascination with this 4 PF lineup is the dumbest thing I've ever seen.
Don’t know if we can lure a top tier coach like Nate Oats who everyone wanted but a likely popular under-the-radar type hire would be Dusty May from FAU
Can’t blame these young men for following the money during their initial recruitment, but now reading that he wants to go to a place where he “can be developed” makes you wonder why nobody advises these QBs to consider this when initially making their decision. We’ll see where he ends up though.
Side note, I know a lot of us were complaining about Michigan NIL not paying up front for high school recruits, but the sheer number of transfers makes you realize they knew what they were doing. Don’t think these big time boosters at other schools are going to continue giving out hundreds of thousands if not millions to then see that player transfer. But paying your existing players is why Corum, Keegan, Zinter, CJ came back this year, and we saw the dividends. Go Blue!
Sherrone, call one screen, I promise you it'll work against their rush right now. They're just pinning their ears back with no regard for any other alternative

I know that…
Next man up.

No FG in the last 7 minutes of the game, what an abomination
There's no offensive strategy with this team, it's all AAU street ball. No back-cuts, no off-ball screens, just nothing.

THAT IS COACHING!
The football team had more wins in January than the basketball team. That in itself is grounds for termination...

RUN THE DAMN BALL

We’ve become Nebraska football in terms of finding ways to lose every close game
Not fouling up 3 under 10 seconds, not calling a TO, no semblance of an offense... just coaching malpractice
Juwan is clueless
IDIOT TEAM, IDIOT COACH
Please just fire Juwan and end this, it's pathetic at this point.
That was a HORRENDOUS free throw my goodness
This team just does not value the ball
Most underrated aspect of Beilein's manic approach to coaching was fundamentals... and now we see why. This team looks like they've never run a 3-man weave at times.
Of course that goes in...

This team is so careless with the basketball it's mind-boggling
Don’t know if we can lure a top tier coach like Nate Oats who everyone wanted but a likely popular under-the-radar type hire would be Dusty May from FAU
Ready for a new coaching regime. Blowing every single close game is not a coincidence.
Program has fallen off so hard the last few seasons, they’re gonna have to start over
Tough watch, they just look lost every play…

Play-action bomb here on first down, go for the jugular
MIKEY IS A MICHIGAN LEGEND
TRUST YOUR 5 STAR QB DAMMIT
Sherrone, call one screen, I promise you it'll work against their rush right now. They're just pinning their ears back with no regard for any other alternative
Call ONE screen Sherrone, JUST ONE
Tyler Morris needs to be fielding punts, coulda had another 10-15 yards there
Moore isn't head coach material yet, can't coach scared like this
(Helluva statement…
Bet.
(Helluva statement Warde)
Win. The. Game.
LETS GO!
Penn State just chilling with 3 defenders at all times, gonna need a moment of brilliance to get one past them right now
Two bigs lineup with 2:00 to go and down 9 is an interesting lineup choice by Juwan, to say the least
I'm sorry but Hunter just doesn't look like he cares out there, especially on defense. Really disappointing...
Yeah I guess technically you're right, I just remember this picture with those 4 players specifically mentioned
The "One More Year" NIL fund goes 4/4, amazing what can happen when you unleash the Michigan money cannon!
Go from being tied for first in the conference to likely a season-ending loss. They have no resume wins, basically a .500 basketball team
Hunter is playing so soft this year I can't comprehend it, you have a guard on you...
Jett is absolutely gassed
JETT HOWARD
