The earliest I remember Mr. Brightside being played in the stadium was 2016 Wisconsin. The song made a return later that season against Indiana (the snow globe game). That was pretty cool, but belting it out while being drenched in a night game is what takes it over the top for me.
And while I don't recall at what point in 2017 MSU the song was played, I do know that subsequent playings did not occur right in the 3rd quarter break. Sometimes we'd be deep in the fourth quarter, or like in 2021 OSU, midway through the third.
Their band isn't mid - they're not even top half of the Big Ten. You can have all of the 1940s-era drill you want, but if you sound like ass then you're not a good band.
My biggest eye-opener was at the 2014 game. After halftime, they sent their version of Stadium Band around to play for different sections. Eventually the group stopped in front of the MMB and started playing at us. It took me fifteen seconds (out of a 22-second song) for me to realize they were playing the Victors trio. That's how awful they sounded.
The video boards are still not utilized well. The live feed of the game doesn't seem any bigger than the old boards, and too much of the screen is taken up by the stats and out-of-town scores. I don't need to constantly see the score of a game that was played yesterday. I don't need to see how many of the other team's rushing attempts have produced negative yards.
The on-field emcee needs to go back to Crisler. The DJ needs to disappear. I like the Frisbee dog, but I didn't like they brought him out during the cheer team's "form M-I-C-H-I-G-A-N with our bodies" routine. It was hard to pay attention to both.
And the choice of honorary captains was... interesting. It's one thing to have Ann Arbor's congresswoman there, it's another to have two other congresspeople who are the antithesis of everything the university stands for. I don't recall seeing honorary captains booed like that before.
The long injury timeout was really scary. But a great aspect of it was that the DJ wasn't allowed to play. For a few sweet minutes, you could talk to the person next to you without shouting.

Yep, this is all on Athletics. They provide the ball caps for the band. Ever since we switched from Adidas to Nike, the hats have been blue. If we want the band to blend in with the rest of the student section, then Athletics needs to buy maize caps again.
I'm tearing up. I've followed the team since KBA's first season, and every year that we made the tournament, we lost to the host in the second round. I was beginning to think that was all we would ever do.
Those teams had great players like Kate Thompson, Nicole Elmblad, Cyesha, and Flaherty, and the most they ever got was the NIT championship.
But KBA and the staff have been putting in so much work building this team, and it's finally paid off. Congratulations, ladies. Keep going for all those that came before you.
You realize the band.has instruments to take along with their personal luggage? After the BTT crash in 2017, the band had to arrange three separate commercial flights for the 29 members and 3 staff members (one for each flight). It was a nightmare trying to coordinate how to distribute the instruments and luggage to comply with airline regulations that aren't followed when we took charters.
Also, for as long as I can remember, the basketball band has always flown with the team to non-Indy or Chicago locations. The expenses were paid for by the NCAA.
They didn't have anything to say on "Pyromania," "Hysteria," or "Adrenalize" because that was the point. They placed all the emphasis on music and melody, and the lyrics we're purposefully shallow and nonsensical.
If you want better lyrical content, check out their "Retroactive" and "Slang" albums. The music is a lot darker and the lyrics more meaningful. Those albums are seen as a departure from the traditional Def Leppard sound, which is probably why they didn't sell a whole lot.
Very rarely, they'll pull out "Wasted" from OTTN. I think they just did on their European tour. But it's been ages since we've seen it played in the US.
I think what Bando is trying to say is "Don't hold it against the candidates, that they have degrees from MSU. Some of them want to change the system." Nowhere does he imply that one party is better than the other. In fact, party matters a lot less on regent/trustee races than others. What matters more is do the candidates support change? Do they support Engler's obstruction?
There are a few that I consider second best, so I'll divide them into categories:

Screaming Woman was close to a TV microphone, because she's in the band.
I saw Ace had proposed a GoFundMe to get her to stop screaming. Donate enough to the Michigan Marching Band, and I'm sure Dr. Brown will be happy to move Screaming Woman or have her shut up. Until then, we'll have to get used to her screams annoying us (but more importantly, annoying the other teams).
The band played a medley of Michigan traditionals, "Victors Rhapsody," that included snippets of Temptation and Hawaiian War Chant. But if Brian (or anyone) wants the songs in their entirety, then stick around for postgame at literally any game. The band plays both after every game.
An MMB trombone alumnus created this Bob Ufer series a few years ago. This particular episode has clips from the Iowa game starting around 4:36, though I'd recommend the whole video. I'm not sure where GhostsofMichigan got the source video of the game, perhaps WolverineHistorian or Dr. Sap would know where to find it?
