Last time I heard about Braylon being involved in a public altercation was in 2008 when he fought Lebron’s posse in Cleveland…

I like the generic football…

I like the generic football player art

David Terrell. Sky high…

David Terrell. Sky high expectations only to be overshadowed by his college teammate Anthony Thomas and then never do anything of note.

I would have said Braylon Edwards, but he had his moments at both Cleveland and New York.

As for Devin, I think injuries have hurt his career. He was playing well for the Seahawks late in the season

Alright Lamar, time to go re…

Alright Lamar, time to go re recruit the DBs already on the roster….and while you’re at it, make a loooong hard sales pitch to keep Keon Sabb as well

But he had the ultimate…

But he had the ultimate strip against Nebraska

The at guy has fallen upward…

The at guy has fallen upward like no coordinator or coach I’ve ever seen

Bush league shit he gets…

Bush league shit he gets away with since his persona has risen above the team.

I can’t imagine doing that to a coach or any kind of authority figure

Hunter knew Howard was taking this program nowhere and the team had no identity beyond him

Clink n Wink defense,…

If he were to come back to…

If he were to come back to Michigan as a coach, would Brian refer to him as “His Binky” or “Coach Binky”?

Maybe my all time favorite Brianism

I will be okay with being…

I will be okay with being slightly more casual, but I sure hope those in football program are not okay with “riding off into the sunset”

- Elite 8 loss to UK …

- Elite 8 loss to UK (because I lived in Lexington at the time and still nearby)

- 2022 TCU semifinal loss that was so avoidable

- 2018 OSU just dismal

- 2016 OSU

- 2006/07 Rose Bowl to USC (just thought UM had a chance to prove they belonged with the elite still and laid an egg in the second half. The OSU game that year didnt hurt as much at the outset since they were #1, it was away, it was a back and forth game, I thought we still had a punchers chance at an NC game rematch considering all the criteria and circumstances)

- 2015 MSU (more just the shock, especially considering MSU owned us at that point for almost a decade it felt like a curse)

- 2013 BBall NC game loss to Louisville (just let all the air out of the bag)

- 2004/05 loss to Vince Young in Rose Bowl (another chance to prove a little national prowess and threw it down the drain)

- 2001/02 Citrus bowl loss to Tennessee

(This one was deeply personal since I was still just 12 and it was my first experience as a following fan watching Michigan lose a bowl game, and they did so in such pathetic fashion with Jason and Witten and Casey Clausen making the defense look stupid. My UM watching started in about 1997 when I was 8 and grew each year from there. Dad is a fan since the early 60s and alum so i remember being indoctrinated to love Michigan since I could talk, even if I wasn’t watching or following yet)

Yes. This.

I believe the…

Yes. This.

I believe the worst NFL QBs (of the top guys) will be Nix and Penix.

Both were beneficiaries of playing in a weak defensive league. Penix has a bad throwing motion that will lend itself to all kinds of batted passes, as well as he will see real defensive lines week after week. As for Nix, he benefited from a short passing offense and will be forced to read defenses in the NFL.

Williams and Daniels feel like wildcards with great athleticism, but are they really going to have the maturity to be come elite NFL guys (think Kyler Murray).

JJ, being the youngest, hasn’t yet come close to ceiling but he still feels like one of the most mature guys and I think will be primed for the best career. I keep seeing how Aaron Rodgers sat under Favre for a couple years coming out of Cal. I could see JJ doing the same behind maybe Matt Stafford.

I don’t think he will either…

I don’t think he will either. Look no further than Kyler Murray.

As should be, but for some…

As should be, but for some reason JJ gets dicked on by casuals and the media (not mutually exclusive)

Understood, should have said…

Understood, should have said

“Harbaugh on Cowherd, McCarthy content”

Nothing wrong with what he…

Nothing wrong with what he said, I agree, but there are a few other candidates owners and GMs seem to be salivating over not named JJ McCarthy.

That’s why the statement is…

That’s why the statement is bold, it’s highly likely at this point another QB is taken before JJ, and Harbaugh would be silly to draft him with Herbert.

I hope he’s right though and he outperforms Williams, Maye, Daniels etc.

Understood, but Dabo wasn’t…

Understood, but Dabo wasn’t in any kind of position to draft Deshaun Watson after making the statement.

Of course he does, but to…

Of course he does, but to make the claim that that he could be the first QB off the board with his lack of high volume attempts is quite a statement.

It looks like the NCAA is…

It looks like the NCAA is going bye bye, I wonder what this will mean for college basketball?

Will there now be another tier of D1 level sports?

I also expect he told those…

I also expect he told those he offered that he was at least highly considering going to LA. I imagine he unwrites his dad’s forthrightness about his future plans

Are there any early era…

Are there any early era Beilien guys in the coaching ranks now?

My first biological son (I…

My first biological son (I am also a stepdad of pre-teen/teen children I love deeply) was born the Monday after the 2021 Penn State game, so his short (so far) life has included the 2021 Maryland game onward. Reading about moments in sports tying to moments in your life really hit me in the feels and brought back how Michigan being back is parallel to my son, Archer, being born. Nothing is quite like holding that little person in your arms for the first time and being equally terrified and amazed/in love at the same time.

I will forever equate this era of Michigan football with Archer’s birth and baby years. Pure joy.

Thank you Jordan for this write up and it gives me hope that Harbaugh will keep in contact with the program and maybe return at some capacity one day. Many blessings to you.

Nah,

I get the sentiment…

Nah,

I get the sentiment to keep the door open for Jim, but in my mind the door is always open for Jim and the entire Harbaugh family.

Should be Hart or Campbell, or have them as co-oc’s

Biggest task of next head…

Biggest task of next head coach (Moore) is onvisouly retaining the roster and then making a great hire at DC.

2 routes for DC:

- call up John Harbaugh or Mike MacDonald

- throw an insane amount of money at Phil Parker

edit: also I’m not against promoting Clink

Jim Harbaugh is quoted…

Jim Harbaugh is quoted saying that his dad told him, “Coach until you feel like you can’t do it anymore, and then coach for two more years”

and also,

“Play as long as you can, coach as long as you can, then die”

or something like that.

I could see the NFL getting tired of him after 5 years, and also thinking he’s too old. I could also see Michigan hungry to at least have his presence around the program again. Sort of like a Bo esque figure if anything. But him coaching here again is not out of the realm of possibility, especially if Sherrone doesn’t work out/has great success and tries the NFL/Oklahoma job for himself.

The door should ALWAYS be open for Jim Harbaugh in some capacity even if it’s not coaching. IMO he always gets full access to Michigan.

That’s why I gave it a ++

That’s why I gave it a ++

It will be bittersweet to…

It will be bittersweet to watch Jim win or lose with the Chargers.

If he wins (especially a SB), awesome for him and he can truly cement himself as one of the greatest coaches to ever do it.

If he has minimal success, he can go through the Belien stages of grief for leaving Michigan, a place he knows he loves deeply.

I have a fan fiction narrative I want to start….

Jim, whether super successful and satisfied, or coaches a bunch of mediocre Chargers teams the next 5 years, will not last longer than the 5 years in LA. He wears out his NFL welcome either way…

…And Sherrone, has 5 years of great success carrying on the Jim Harbaugh method here at Michigan, like sort of a David Shaw 2.0++, and then the Oklahoma job opens up, and his heart strings are pulled back to his Alma Mater in Norman.

Michigan job comes open and who has overstayed their welcome in the NFL again?? None other than James Joseph Harbaugh. A new and competent AD and some new regents are at the helm at Michigan and Jim is welcomed back with open arms to finish out his stellar football career as a Wolverine.

the end.

Can’t think of a worse thing…

Can’t think of a worse thing to start a thread about than the state of OSU football

Yeah, I’m not sure I fully…

Yeah, I’m not sure I fully believe JUB’s schtick about Harbaugh.

I think Jim likes championships and new challenges.

I challenge him to go after 8 championships to best Saban.

…..hope your reading Jim

I will take as many Harbaugh…

I will take as many Harbaugh seasons as we can get, as he obviously doesn’t let that offseason stuff effect what happens the next season.

That said, the whole “not a yearly thing” statement he made makes me very disappointed in him.

I hope his heart for Michigan overwhelms him and he one day decides he always needs an office in Schembecler hall and will always be around the program a la Bo or Alvarez.

My gut instinct on Moore is he needs to prove it at a less prominent program that he can fully handle the ins and outs of being a head coach.

I clicked the link and saw a video with Dan Dakich. I then preceded to leave the link.

Am I the only one who feels…

Am I the only one who feels there is something off about all this “reporting”?

I was saying 40+ years is 2…

I was saying 40+ years is 2 generations, sorry if I didn’t clarify well enough…

for instance, Oregon has had about 20 consectuive years of great winning culture in the recent era, so I would say they are half way to being a true blue blood. So we will see how they navigate the next 20 years

but now that you say that, the ancient Hebrews did call 40 years 1 generation.

Being a winning program…

Being a winning program generation over generation.

I think once you’ve had 2 consecutive generations (40+ years) of winning culture, you’ve become a blue blood.

Obviously I would start the “blue blood” qualifying talk around the time helmets came around, lol.

Obviously. I want him to…

Obviously. I want him to stay for my fandom reasons, but it also seems it would be fitting for him to stay to continue to be a voice of change for the college athletes to obtain revenue from the huge TV contracts. Leaving sort of feels like he’s taking his shots at the NCAA/Conferences, etc, and then leaving without actually changing the situation, just saying words about what he thinks is right, and then going to the near soulless NFL.

Maybe I’m being too critical since NIL and Portal have obviously become a thing since Harbaugh showed up here.

I don’t know, just my 2 cents.

Just had this thought,

Just had this thought,

It’s looking like there’s a lot of smoke around Dan Lanning as the next Alabama coach….

This has me concerned that Oregon would go after Jesse Minter, as it would be nearly an identical hire to Dan Lanning a couple years ago.

Just hoping Michigan is willing to hand out the bag to the assistants

With Saban retiring right…

With Saban retiring right before the 12 team playoff, and in the infancy of NIL/portal, college football has a more wide open feeling than ever, as if it’s crossed some spiritual threshold and the old guard is fading, and it’s stepped into a totally new frontier.

So in light of this, I truly hope Harbaugh stays as he seems to be at the forefront of structural innovation in the college football world, while still holding true to the heart and soul of all that is football. No one loves and respects the game more than Harbaugh.

Like you, I’m content either way, as I believe his culture is cemented in many of these players and into guys like Sherrone Moore, but Harbaugh feels like the leader college football needs, and he would just be another coach in the near-passionless NFL, even if he’s a great one at that.

I expect Michigan to have its best next 20-30 years it’s ever had, as I feel they are primed for the new spiritual frontier college football has entered.
