January 29th, 2021 at 3:53 PM ^
What a great feeling! Congratulations to him and you.
January 29th, 2021 at 3:53 PM ^
I somehow get the feeling you told your son "You? Getting into Michigan? Never!"
EDIT: oh, congrats to your son! Awesome accomplishment indeed!

The world needs ditch diggers, too, Danny.

How 'bout a Fresca?!
January 29th, 2021 at 5:30 PM ^
I’m having one now! My wife had never tried Fresca. She’s enjoying one two. Very refreshing on a hot day like today!
January 29th, 2021 at 3:57 PM ^
Congrats!
January 29th, 2021 at 3:57 PM ^
Mine too. I think I was more on edge about it than he was!
Go Blue!
January 29th, 2021 at 4:01 PM ^
There's no doubt about that...Congrats!
January 29th, 2021 at 4:05 PM ^
Awesome! Congrats to you and your son!
January 29th, 2021 at 4:12 PM ^
Is this “the” early decision - as in first wave? I thought it used to be around Thanksgiving (c. 2008) and last year it seemed to be a week before Xmas. I’ve had both ends of the M admissions process ...early admission for my son, then excruciating (for my daughter) wait list til almost May. Congratulations to all the new Wolverines!
January 29th, 2021 at 4:15 PM ^
When I was applying back in 2016/17, the UM early action decisions were announced right after Christmas. I believe it was announced there were expected delays in the admissions process this year.
January 29th, 2021 at 4:31 PM ^
A couple of years ago, they had to delay the early decision date due to the volume of applications. It's been in January ever since. The number of applications continues to grow.

Congrats! My advice to your son: plenty to do in AA outside of night putting.
January 29th, 2021 at 4:13 PM ^
Congrats to your son! My younger brother was deferred until April, but I'm confident he will be admitted. Go Blue!
January 29th, 2021 at 6:53 PM ^
My son was deferred also. Does anyone have any historical acceptance rate data for deferred students?
January 29th, 2021 at 4:20 PM ^
One of my students who I wrote a recommendation for got in today. Excited for her.
January 29th, 2021 at 4:51 PM ^
Nice work.

Go Blue! Class of '99 in the house to say congrats!!!
January 29th, 2021 at 4:51 PM ^
Congrats to your son and you from the LSA class of 1983.
BTW...No way in hell this is OT.
January 29th, 2021 at 4:53 PM ^
Does he play DT? Congrats!!!!
Back in my day (LSA Class of '77) I got my application in on the first day (August 1) and thanks to "rolling admissions" received my acceptance letter on October 10th. It made my senior year of high school much more relaxing.
January 29th, 2021 at 9:49 PM ^
I applied in August of 96 and received the big envelope in October, too! Made the fact that I got dumped the night before seem like no big deal.
January 29th, 2021 at 4:56 PM ^
That is WONDERFUL NEWS!!! Congrats to you all.
January 29th, 2021 at 4:58 PM ^
My son got in as well. He is a transfer so he will spend his next two years in A2. Very excited for him. He got accepted out of high school and went a different route and I thought he might regret it. So glad he got a second chance.
January 29th, 2021 at 5:06 PM ^
Don’t sell yourself short, Judge. You’re a tremendous slouch.
January 29th, 2021 at 5:08 PM ^
Congratulations!
I think I was more excited with my acceptance letter than I was my degree
January 29th, 2021 at 5:13 PM ^
May fortune be ever in your favor. And may uou leverage competing admissions into better aid packages.
January 29th, 2021 at 5:30 PM ^
Congratulations from class of ‘59. I have a question. In the latest Kappa Sigma magazine they have a list of alums who are members of the NFL Hall of Fame. Dan Dierdorf is listed as U of Missouri undergrad, yet when I looked him up on google it shows U o Michigan. Can anyone clear this up?
January 29th, 2021 at 5:44 PM ^
Fellow Kappa Sig here (class of '91), and congrats and Go Blue to the newly admitted students!
Your question is actually a Kappa Sigma one, not a Michigan one -- he was not in the fraternity as an undergrad while at Michigan. He was a special initiate at Missouri during his time with the St. Louis Cardinals. AEKDB!
January 29th, 2021 at 6:01 PM ^
Congrats!!!
Go Blue!!! Best 6 years of my life!
January 29th, 2021 at 6:07 PM ^
Niece got her notification today as well but I think she is holding out to see what MIT says.
NERD!!!! ....... (just like her uncle)
Go Blue!!
January 29th, 2021 at 6:16 PM ^
Congratulations! My daughter got the good news from Michigan (engineering) today! Good reason to celebrate tonight!
January 29th, 2021 at 6:30 PM ^
Congrats to you and your family.
Obviously its up to her but Ive been really pushing my daughter towards attending Michigan. We’ve been working on her interviewing, extra curricular activities, and Admission letter. She would be a great addition to Michigans 2037 freshman class.
January 29th, 2021 at 7:20 PM ^
:-) never too young to start.
January 29th, 2021 at 7:55 PM ^
Plus one to you. 2030, 2033 and (gasp) 2039. All daughters, so probably engineering!
January 29th, 2021 at 6:39 PM ^
I had TWO sons admitted to Michigan today! Can anyone beat that? :)
January 29th, 2021 at 6:44 PM ^
Congrats to your son!
January 29th, 2021 at 7:16 PM ^
Class of '98 here - congrats! A really great day!
It's great to be a Michigan Wolverines!
January 29th, 2021 at 7:44 PM ^
My daughter chose to apply to NYU early admission, even though she was just about done with her Michigan application. She got in so no Ann Arbor for us. Congrats to all of you who get to visit regularly. Of course, New York ain't so bad.
January 29th, 2021 at 7:52 PM ^
We live near NY and it’s obviously a great location. Daughter chose UW - although I miss A2, Madison has been a great alternative to visit.
At the end of the day, what matters is the fit for them rather than parental visit preferences.
January 29th, 2021 at 8:42 PM ^
We live in Evanston so visit Ann Arbor fairly regularly for games. Madison is a great town, too, and a great school.

Just kidding. Congratulations to him and your family. That is a huge accomplishment!! Let’s hope he shows up on campus more than Bob Shoop...

Congrats!
My son is finishing his last class online this semester from home.
Hope campus life returns to normal for yours in the fall.
